@Yencompetes yen, we also need to consider how much racheal trained as well. in the early 80's overtraining was the norm. Also there are more types of exercises available and variety of equipment. Weider wasnt looking for the biggest women to be the spokespeople of bodybuilding, he was looking for people who were photogenic.

The PROFESSIONAL female BODYBUILDERS are on steroids, fact. Second, I dont have any problem with people on steroids. Im a bodybuilder myself and understand the dedication to build a quality physique steroids or not. So Im jealous and an idiot? WTF. You completely misunderstood the point of my comment. Your suggestion was that although less common back than, there was still use of roids with these female bodybuilders of the 80's. Nowadays concerning female bodybuilders as well as the males, the window is open to take any shit and thats why the bodies of today's bodybuilders dont look as good as the pioneers. Moderation is the key of all things.

Honestly I don't know to what extent female bodybuilders in the 80's were using steroids... enlighten me. All I know is that the professionals of today are obviously dependant on steroids much more so than they ever were if so at all during the 80's (females that is). Im pretty new to the whole sport, but don't underestimate the amount of respect I have for ANYONE that lives the lifestyle. Im not talkin shit about anybody.

Actually, most fitness & figure competitors these days DO take "enhancement" drugs & compounds. Sad but true. It's just not well-publicized, for obvious reasons.

ha ha! I was thinking the same exact thought. With the exception of Bev Francis these women are like modern figure competitors. Can you imagine how people in the 80's would've reacted to some of the bigger female bodybuilders we have today?

I feel that if the Women want to get that big as guys, it's their decision. But when you get to the point where the clitoris begins to look like a penis, there's something a little wrong there in my view. But again, people are going to do what they want.
Honestly, I'd prefer a more feminine looking Woman Bodybuilder. But that's my opinion.
