  • If you are a happy owner of Shade's of Deep Purple album, you can sync that video with the last bonus track :D

  • wow the hair back then lol

  • El primer tema cantado de los Deep Purple

  • Shitty mix!

  • Rod Evans was awesome in Captain Beyond.

  • hey mercury, do yer fuckin research. i was a hippie after i came back from nam. there were a lot of hippies in nam, you just didnt know it. all hippies didnt protest. i'm tellin you i was there. i lived both worlds. hippiedom is a state of mind

  • @psychedelicsam1 Jimi Hendrix was in the army

  • @C861986 yes he was, he was a paratrooper

  • My guess this is from the show Playboy After Dark. Sounds like what a local band can do now days.

  • I wonder if those pants are the key to his singing. They must squish the testicles to produce a higher pitch.

  • fucking hippies

  • @YouWillSufferUntoMe Hippies! You need toknow what hippies were/are! Deep Purple band was/were not hippies.

  • @YouWillSufferUntoMe Idiot...Deep Purple were not hippies.

  • @MercuryMorrison1 Did you just watch the video? They are more hippie then todays hippiest hippies.

  • @YouWillSufferUntoMe Its like pmccachren said...Deep Purple arne't Hippie's...Hippie's go cry when tree's get cut down and get shot in face by cops for protesting things.

I bet you probably think Jim Morrison was a hippie to.

  • @MercuryMorrison1 Hippies come in many shapes and forms. this is like a disco/hippie.

  • @MercuryMorrison1 This first version of Deep Purple were more of "mod-hippies." The "Austin Powers" period if you will. That point where mod was turning INTO hippie. Actually by 1968, Deep Purple's style (what you see here) was already a tad dated as puffy shirts and bouffant hair-dos were being replaced with denim jeans, long straight hair, and beards.

  • 1:58 great fill thing of blackmore

  • oct 1968

  • Yea baby .... That's hilarious !!!!

  • YEA!!! BABY!!

  • Great song and video!

  • Cool--this is Playboy after Dark. No wonder Rod Evans got sacked, with that ridiculous orange outfit.

  • @charlesameyer1 He is the best singer they ever had so they wore mod clothes

  • this video must be the inspiration for Austin Powers - this song pops up in the damned united - one of my favourites

  • Rod Evans was no slouch on vocals !!! He did fine with Captain Beyond later, but Ian Gillan was meant to front Purple....... Nobody else do you even think of when you bring up the name.... Too bad Blackmore turned asshole... The other thing that was the undoing of this band was that keyboard play was OUT by the mid 70's.... Just ask Three Dog Night. I HATED to see this great band turn into a nostalgia act, but Rapture Of The Deep in '05 was a great album !!!!! Gillan's new voice grows on you..

  • Wow, a music show without lip syncing! Unfortunately, everything needed to be cranked a few more notches. And it's so crowded, looks like a REAL radio station. :)

  • The influence of Jimi is evident here on Ritchie's playing.Love it.

  • u bet ur bippy

  • Grooooooovy Chicks! This video define's 1968.

  • 1968

  • Awesome! I saw them in concert back in early April 1985. They were great!

  • I Can't eat, can't sleep

    Hush hush hush hush

  • Volume needs to be cranked up high on this song! Definitely one of the best of the 60s!

  • John Lord blondie xDDDDD

  • Awesome song w00t

  • this all looks so staged!!

  • Although this is my fave band (and Mk.1 is up there with 2, 3, 7 and 8!), I still get distracted by the fabulous brunette lady in blue dress and white stockings! What a mover...

  • 1968 !!!

  • Dancing was MUCH looser back in those days...now, by comparison, people hardly get on the floor. Check out the brothers @ 2:43!!!

  • Is that Ian Gillan????????

  • @MrThenewberys Nope That Is " Rod Evans"!

  • @MrThenewberys No, it's Rod Evans. Gillan joined a little later.
