  • I was pulling for a boy named charlie brown

  • A thought just occurred to me.5 nominees for this category and one must assume that the orchestra was prepared to play any one of 5 themes associated with each nominee, and yet they instantly played Let It Be a second after it was announced the winner. It doesn't seem as though there was enough time for the conductor to call out the tune, let alone for the orchestra to pick out the correct music.Does this mean that the conductor has advance knowledge of the winner?

  • @Fordham1969 I take it you noticed that when Quincy Jones left the orchestra pit, there was another conductor. with regards to the five bits of music, the orchestra would have had them altogether on the one sheet of music split into the songs,

  • They probably didnt attend to recieve their award because they didnt like the movie 'Let it Be'. They were tearing apart :(

  • Quincy Jones. Great music, great man.

  • John, Paul George, Ringo and Quincy?

  • haha the award announcer was so happy when he read "The Beatles, Let It Be" of course ;)

  • Why didn't The Beatles come? Or at least one of them?

  • @QueenBeatlesWings Paul and Linda were in LA a month before where they attended the Grammies and picked up an award for The Beatles for Let It Be, not sure why they didn't hang round for the Oscars, maybe they didn't care? I've never heard any of The Beatles talk about their Oscar

  • lol! what is he saying 0:49 qunicy jar?!?!

  • lol!

  • why jones accepted on behalf the beatles this award?

  • Music and Lyrics by Paul McCartney!!!!

  • The man got more hair spray on him then the chick.

  • THANKS..........FOR POSTING THIS!!

  • Ha ha..."Vince Galardi." Oh well.

  • I thought I was a Beatles Fan - I had no idea they won an Oscar® for Let It Be®.

Do you think that poor Shelley had maybe one or 2 cold drinks before dishing out the award ®?

  • @phillper0906 they won an Oscar AND a Grammy for Let it Be since it was a film and had music. Paul (with Linda in tow) accepted for The Beatles on the Grammy. They also won a few Oscars for Hard day's Night film/soundtrack and Sgt. Pepper album.

  • Quincy is the MAN!!! He was even WORKING during the Beetles acceptance...lol, THE HARDEST WORKING MAN IN SHOW BIZZ. PERIOSD! He's scored / produced for over 44 films!!! and that not including the magic he & Michael Jackson created for us...wow.

  • I wanted to comment on the Great Quincy Jones and The Fabulous Beatles but

    Gott Damn!

    WTF!

    Look at Glenn Campbell's HAIR!

To get hair like that you have to have it computer generated!

  • @creaturebotman That would be true if it was Glenn Campbell. I think it is actually a Lego man, not Glenn!

  • Quincy Jones was my favorite Beatle.

  • now he seems like timbaland's father

  • they couldn't even get George Martin or something? I mean if the Beatles didn't show I'd imagine he's the next guy they would ask.

  • George Martin recorded the project live (as per The Beatles, mainly Paul's, original wish). However the album/soundtrack was mixed later with overdubs by Phil Specter. He had John, George & Ringo's full approval. Paul's permission was grudging.George Martin was fed up with the project by the end. He would not have been the natural choice to pick up the award. Quincy Jones tryed to pursuade McCarney to attend the Oscars but he wanted nothing to do with it...

  • my bad oops joan blondell ms lady fingers from the cincinnati kid

  • glenn campbell and celeste holm are the presenters

  • Not Celest...but nice try. This is Joan Blondell, looking pretty darn good...watch her in Nightmare Alley with Tyrone Power on the warner brothers noir collection. You will never forget THAT movie.

  • who are the presenters?

  • hah! like these jokers could ever beat the beatles

  • Ain't it something that Quincy accepted on behalf of the Beatles and Q himself NEVER won an Oscar except for a "Lifetime Achievement Award"

  • Tom Waits shoulda got an Oscar for his nominated score for One From The Heart, but that year was Mancini...but the oscar voters are the hippest crowd...very liberal people...all artists...

Quincy also did the soundtrack to The Pawnbroker...awesome stuff...very early...maybe late fifties...early sixties...what a score. Very modern...almost abstract. Try to find that!

  • It's such a shame that A Boy Named Charlie Brown didn't win. That would've been a real joy for me.

  • Yeah. Same here.

  • Paul McCartney composed this song "Let It Be" idependently of Lennon.

  • They mean the album/film as a whole I believe

  • All the songs written by either Lennon or McCartney were credited as McCartney/Lennon under their Song Writing Company "Northern Songs". It doesn't matter who writes them they will always be a McCartney/Lennon song. All George's songs (including "Only a Northern Song" referring to the impact of any Lennon/McCartney theme regardless of the magnificent or poorness of it) were know under Harrisongs.

  • thats not quincy jones thats jesse jackson. they messed up his name poor guy

  • That is quincy jones, jesse jackson would never be invited to the Oscars

  • would you like to bet on that?

  • That was Quincy Jones... he conducted the band. Jesse jackson was a preacher, nothing to do in the Music business..

  • I wonder who is gonna win next year. The Oscars is and has always been so exciting!

  • The Beatles at this moment couldn't have cared LESS!!!

  • That's Shelley Winters.

  • no it's not

  • joan blondell looked really great at first I too thouht it was Shelley.

  • You probably couldn't have gotten all four Beatles together in the same room at this point in time.

Too bad! Would have been a kick to see them accepting the award.

  • HAHAHA what a comic parodyyy!!!

  • This was a few months after The Break Up, right? Damn shame.

On another note, any video for their Best Album Grammy win for Sgt. Pepper?

  • That's Joan Blondell, if I'm not mistaken.

  • i love this chanel too............

  • Quincy Jones is the first African American Vice President of a record label. A wonderful contribute to the global community.

  • Why is HE accepting the award??? :S

  • because THEY couldn't make it

  • LMAO..i love YOUR answer!

  • He was the musical director so since the band couldn't be there, he accepted it on their behalf.

  • senorboyero,This makes me laugh also.I Guess its the fact that this guy is recieving the award for the beatles.

  • adapted by Vince Galardi !?!

  • Quincy is the 70s Timbaland! Whatever he touches turns into gold

  • Yeah, but the sound is still more like T-Pain, don't you think? But he looks A LOT like Timbaland.

(Level 42 is great, I just had to say it.:))

  • Yeah, he really looks like him too! But Quincy's sound seems happier. :)

I just have to tell everybody who likes 80s music: Check out LEVEL 42. :D

  • I... I don't even know why this is so awesome, and yet it is!

  • Anyone knows which year this happened?

  • The Beatles will forever be the greatest band of all time.

  • That depends on how you compare them to Level 42.

    I LOVE LEVEL 42!!!

  • This makes me laugh for some reason.

  • GO Beatles!

  • Quincy Jones rules

  • cool.i love quincy. he's so great!

  • Campbell Glen and Blondell Joan

    lol

  • Glen Cambell looks like Mike Brady - LOL

  • quincy works with michael jackson!

  • That started in the late 1970's. This was 1971 and Quincy wrote many film scores during the 60's. A very talented man.

  • Qunincy Jones looked great! Joan Blondell a star of the 30's & 40's who appeared in Grease in 78' & Glen Campbell who was pretty popular at that time a made a few movies like True Grit & Norwood and had a newtork TV show.

  • Wow look at young Quincy boogie up those steps.

  • Quincy Jones is so cool

  • Quincy Jones!!! Cool clip...:D

  • I can't recognize the presenters, please help!!!

  • Glen Campbell and Joan Blondell

  • There are Joan Blondell y Glen Campbell.
