Has anyone else noticed that some of the lyrics here and on No Name Face are different than the ones from Diff's Lucky Day? They start out the same in this verse: "Well, I haven't got it all figured out quite yet but even if it takes my whole life to get to where I need to be." Here's where they are different (NNF): "And if I should fall to the bottom of the end I'll be one step back to you." versus (DLD) "That's alright with me now if it's ok with you." Suprised no one else has mentioned it.
He seems really mellow and introspective during this song. Like maybe he's reflecting on everything that happened with his dad and after all this time it still has a powerful effect on him.
This was the first song he wrote---WOW!!! He's said that his music is his therapy. He writes such beautifully deep lyrics that have touched so many--me included!!!
i know his first album - no name face was made when he was just 15, which includes this song and breathing, and hangingby a moment, he's a great singer! he inspires me alot
Yeah apparently his dad and him had a while (still?) where they weren't talking or something because his dad got married to someone like 6 months older than him. I'm not sure I think I remember reading that in some other post. This is like my favorite Lifehouse song (ok pretty close second to May) and I love this version.
regardless of the situation with his dad the minister...marriage counselor etc...the fact he wrote a song like this at 15?...that is the genius...he is the greatest young American songwriter out there right now in MHO...
I suppose the dad when counseling people has a more open mind about his own life. Maybe, he thinks well I should practice what I preach. Who knows? We are all just human, some learn to live, some only die with buried dreams. Hey Dukabor, here is an idea!
I'm so in love with Lifehouse and Jason's voice. It' just perfect. Best band in the world!

Great song. Ironic about his dad being a marriage counselor and getting married for the fourth time.
