  • Would've been a better song if they mentioned Durward Kirby.

  • Nice homage to The Rolling Stones in the second line.

  • Flip side of Heart Of Glass .... wore out BOTH sides ....

  • still awesome !!! perfect album!!!

  • O man...do they still sell this album?I'm a young teen!:0

  • I've been in love with this band since I first heard them back in the late 70's! Nothing's changed. I still love this band, more than ever!

  • @JORGEPSOUSA911 Its the best inevery way inevery song they all pulled it together!!!!!

  • i luv BLONDIE!

  • classic album from a classic band----end of story-----just miss the scratches etc you get when listening to it on vinyl back in an age when singers could actually sing bands played and the music charts actually mattered

  • Blondie was punk for sure, rock, pop, and all kinds of things.

Just look in Autoamerican, its new age, country, blues.

As for your punk discussion in attitude, no doubt about it.

  • great

  • Ice cream urgency at its finest! Lap it up, y;all. That voice..ahhhhhh..........

  • This would have been a good song for Y2K.

  • Class song from a class singer the flip side to Heart of Glass bot sure if it was a double a side this one

  • All times hottest blonde !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Union City Blue is my absolute favorite

  • This song is badass.

  • @odiseoo97. Read my post again, where in my statement did I say that Parallel Lines was Blondie's first album? I know Blondie is their first album, read my post again.

  • Blondie played CBGB more than anyone this side of The Ramones.

They were the house band of "High Times" magazine.

That led to the "Underground Rep" - I believe!

  • @doentim. What is punk about Blondies first album? I liked Blondie, but they were not punk, infuenced by punk yes, but more of a new wavey sound. The Clash were punk for the first 4 albums, wtf r u talking about?

  • @kbinco Parallel lines is their Third album :P

  • Remember seeing them at odeon bham, One of the best gigs ever, Debbie harry ruled the roost , forget maddonna, etc she set the standard......

  • im only 19 but I have pilfered my dads record collection over the years and this stuff is pure greatness.

  • @symphonythree. That's your opinion, but I saw Blondie back in the day, as I also saw the Clash back in the day.Compared to the Clash at least, Blondie was not punk!!

  • @kbinco Musically Blondie was punk in the beginning. However the Clash wasn't punk for that long either, they turned kind of reggae and their sound softened up really quickly and got more mainstream as well like Blondie.

  • @doetim yes they were. they started out as punk when they were playing at CBGB'S with the likes of NewYork Dolls and stuff :)

  • Classic.

  • CLASSIC! One of the best US of A bands ever.

  • @ucbf1. I agree, I dropped all the classic rock shit i was listening to, and new wave ands punk it was. Blondie's infleunces were punk, but like Television, Blondie was not a punk band.

  • @kbinco blondie was punk, punk is always about attitude, not so much the music..they had attitude

  • This makes me feel old, I got this malbum when it first came out. My fave Blondie song.

  • Love the band, song, & album!

  • First album I ever bought, I was aged 15, the inner sleeve had the lyrics. I don't need lyrics now they are imprinted in my memory!

  • Ah, memories... Glad I own this on vinyl...

  • They can do no wrong in my eyes.

  • This really rocks.

  • just realised my life went from Blondie through Rush through Pat Benatar through to (real) Trance how'd that happen ?

  • She has to be one of the most under-rated female vocalists ever in pop/rock music.

  • Sidewalk social scientists don't get no satisfaction from their cigarettes: alliterative genius.

  • mighty fine that blondie... and this is one of their best songs imho :)

  • An awesome Highway tune to drive with. This combined with some of the tracks from "Eat to the Beat" equate to Rocketing down the road. This type of music torpedoed that Disco crap, and whatever other Marshmallow music was on radio airplay. Blondie, combined with Blue Oyster Cult provided a "Dynamic Duo" of new age rock to rejuvenate underground FM.

  • A lot of their songs have Grease, Beach Boys vibe to them.

Blondie was extremely ahead of their time. When this album dropped, people

complained that the current music (Disco) lack creativity…………Sucked

  • I love these lyrics! i have no idea what ther about but they are great!

  • Never has alliteration been better employed in popular music.

  • I graduated hs in 79 this music brings back so many memories. After32 years it still moves me

  • Lost youth syndrome, vrujovrujo? I'm familiar with it. Blondie directs me straight back to my formative years in County Durham.

  • I remember this being the "b" side of the 45rpm "Heart of Glass" single.

  • there sure as hell wasn't much around in 1978 that can compare to this incredible album. the sound, the lyrics, debra just belting it out. absolutely classic!!

  • wow...I've missed this. Great lyrics.

  • Cocaine is a helluva drug!

  • This has kind of a do whop-y 60's vibe, huh?

  • great song, great album, great group nothing else to say really!! apart from i had a MAJOR crush on Debbie, still do i think!! LOL

  • 11:59 wow one of the greatest!!!!!!

  • This reminds me of the pre-first boy friend : ) and the time in the secondary school...

But this one also is still so deep inside my music memories. It is an ear worm in good meaning for me.. When I nowadays have to hurry to some place the usual song that comes to my mind is 11:59 from Blondie :D

  • I have this on record. i fucking love it. <3

  • The best non-single Blondie ever recorded,. I could never understand why Mike Chapman didn't release this as a single rather than the likes of Sunday Girl/Heart of Glass, both of which were mammoth successes - but hey what do I know, I only loved the band!!.

  • absolutely amazing song one of the first blondie albums i bought on vinyl

  • I relate to many of the comments below - I laugh when Levassuer1 and BigBulgeCheeks mention Duran Duran.. I saw Duran Duran open for Blondie - it has to be over 25 years ago... What a phenomenal concert... I was in the front row hanging on the stage and Chris Stein handed me a guitar pic during the "Tide is High"... Awesome memories... I want to thank FallingDown08 for posting these great Blondie videos with perfect sound quality

  • @davidmadmaxx I saw them & David Johansen open for Blondie, too, back in 1982. It was my first Blondie concert in NJ; they were awesome! What Chris did was incredible! I would've fainted, lol, but I had a crush on Jimmy Destri back then. :-P

  • A great song!!!!!

    A great album!!!!!!

    A great band!!!!!!!!!:)

Love 'em & their music....not comparable with todays trash....

    Epic

  • Ladygrinningsouldiva,

Very glad that you enjoyed the Blondie concert. Possibly, we hit her on a bad night. I will always be a big Blondie fan, but on that night, she just did not have it. She would leave halfway through the songs and go behind the stage as the band played. She could not hit the high notes that night for what ever reason. Glad to hear that she still has it!

  • ucbf1 ......Ya are so right! So many memories when ya were in school and ya wanted just to get out and start your life like a rocket to the ocean! What a song and ya are right again about songs of today. I was hooked on Blondie from the start and saw her in concert in Toronto and New York. Speaking of those songs from then, what did ya think of Hungry like the wolf?

  • @levassuer1 what are they like live? I'm going to see them in Manchester or Nottingham so I was wondering what to expect

  • @BigBulgeCheeks

It's been awhile, but those songs from the 80's are can't miss in my opinion! Blondie, Go-Go's, Pat Benatar and Duran Duran will stir so many thoughts from "the day". Ya will LUV them!!!

  • @levassuer1 Cool, I love Duran Duran. I was wondering what Blonde were like live

  • @BigBulgeCheeks

She was great in Toronto around 2000 when Maria came out. I saw her in Canadagua New York last year I believe and she was just a shadow of her past. Age catches up to everyone though, even stars. Pat Benatar opened for her and she was fabulous!

  • One of the greatest off of Parallel lines :D

  • best version ,brill band, brings back mem ories ,debbie harry every boys fantasy back then

  • And now

  • Muy buena canción!

  • This brings back so any memories. I was a Senior in High School when this came out and I dropped all crap music from my collection and started on New Wave, then sought out Punk Rock and I haven't looked back since. Today's music doesn't even compare to these great songs.

  • @ucbf1 Ahah, Thumbs up for you.

As a side note, I think that most music is not so good today, cause teens stoped to listen to great music, like Blondie and others. How can musicians (mostly teens) play and made good music, if they dont listen to it ? Is like persons who never listen to classical music, compose classical music . Its impossible
