  • well i am a girlie!! and can honestly say that there has hardly been a week in 34 years, that I havnt listened to this fabulous band. Compulsive listening and nectar for the brain cells !!

  • @Icequeen1962 Nice one girl! But then again, you`ve good reason to be addicted to `em,seeing as you are addicted to that old "demon of the semen" JJ??? Haha, and I dont mean that in a nautical term......

  • that bass!!!

  • just listen to that bass!!

  • @marcuslaughton i fucking know right?

  • e - european rockers where doin a sound similar to this6 years earlier but we didnt here it at the time

  • John Peel hated Stranglers

  • JJ Burnel's bass playing forever legendary! The Stranglers are fucking amazing.

    Timeless Material.

  • JJ Burnel bass playing forever legendary!

  • excellent

  • Brilliant, thank fuck for JP !

  • without JP, no punk exposure exept within the capital, period

    well missed and irreplacable

  • The Stranglers had a sound that no person, band or thing will ever be able to replicate...ever..

  • You can never be someone who is 100% themselves

  • the great unwashed ones of ? how would or could anyone put them? well i will just say my bit an be gone... the fuckin best ever thx guys ... made my puberty n growin up real good.. my kids love youse.... :)

  • I came in later, but learnt every note from Rattus' ,No More Heroes and Black and White. HC had such a sparse, industrial yet melodic style. Fanfuckingtastic. As an old geezer with two children the only band I really like nowadays that gives me anything similar is Fucked Up.

  • Thanks for posting! I just subscribed to your channel. I like the Stranglers.

  • Fantastic recording, thanks a lot man!

  • what a great vocalist Hugh is !!! ..damn, good times...

  • So great to hear this again - always loved the keyboard solo we never got to hear on the album version!

    Thanks for uploading!!

  • They were radio sessions by Radio 1 dj John Peel, a guy who championed punk and alternative music on mainstream radio. He sadly died a few years ago.

  • Nice! What were the peel sessions? Was that a live broadcast?

  • If it wasn't for John Peel many of the punk/new wave bands would never have been heard. He championed many bands in his late night shows who would never had been played on mainstream radio.

Peel was as punk as the bands - he didn't give a shit for the contemporary sounds of the day and absolutely hated the pompous crap coming from Yes and their ilk.

Thanks to Mr Peel we had the most exciting musical era in the late 70s - without him it probably would had never got out of London. RIP John.

  • @atomicFlyer haha..a Dj on Uk BBC Radio Ones late slot..chmpioned great bands like The Stranglers, The Undertones and The Smiths to name but a few...and yes these "Peel Sessions" were "as" live prerecorded live tracks...was great listening as an early teen for me, with Kid Jenson just before...so Comsat Angels, Skids, Cocteau Twins..Stranglers etc etc.. great time to grow up with music

  • @atomicFlyer You're joking right?
