@gamedexterity The screen is reported to look better. Still, it runs that mips processor, So pretty much, other than the color,, it's the same tablet. That's from my understanding anyway.
@nmurdic Hmm, so do you have any recommendations for a tablet then? I'm looking for one that can at least do youtube well, and occasional web browsing and checking emails. I'm not looking to spend more than $160 if possible. Any suggestions welcomed, thanks.
@gamedexterity The novo 7 aurora, Novo 7 advanced 2, or the Novo 7 elf should be great tablets. If you want to run most of the android market apps, stay away from all MIPS cpu based tablets such as the Novo 7 paladin, and the Novo 7 basic. They should be in or just a bit over the $160 range.
@nmurdic I'd like to buy from amazon, but there are not many reviews, so I am very hesitant. Plus, the NOVO 7 doesn't seem to be very widespread in the USA. I'm still conflicted. xD I wonder if I should get a nook color and root it to be a tablet? I am also looking at the Amlogic cortex A9 type tablets. Any comments on those?
Nmurdic, do you know of any sites that list apps compatible with this tablet? Also your market seems to work fine, I installed an android market on my 7 basic and it doesn't even start..any advice? Thanks
Man that processor MIPS app problem sounds annoying and on the website they show the basic as being the best I thought it has a white back with kickstand does it not?
Review was useless. A bunch of self pats on the back for knowing more than store employees. Only thing useful was the info about brilliant store, will never buy there again.
I'm a tech addict and into all things geek. I've been waiting for the MIPS processor to come back into style, and I'm planning on buying the Novo7 Legend once it becomes available. ARM has a strong grip on mobile devices right now, but with Intel moving in with its Atom processor, companies are going to need to start taking notice of other processors, and I'm hoping MIPS will help add to that competition.
Sure, MIPS might not have much compatibility right now, but give it time.
@TheInsomniaddict good comment. I hear MIPS has great potential. My only complaint is the compatibility issues. As a consumer, that is a deal breaker.
Unfortunately I've got a novo 7 paladin and it is not compatible with flash player and important apps from the market. The worst reason is the architecture of the cheap processor is MIPS instead of ARM. A lot of big companies like skype, adobe, and so on won't spent time to develop compatible apps for MIPS processors.
DO NOT BUY PALADIN OR BASIC if you want to watch films, tv, series,.... online and if you want the best aps from the market. BUY ONLY ARM PROCESSORS CORTEX A8 OR A9
This is probably the MOST disappointing product I have ever purchased. More than half of the apps I try to add are not compatible. I purchased this as a device that my toddler could use to watch a couple of movies and play Kid Mode (zoodles.com) and the Ainol 7 Basic totally FAILS to deliver. The screen is so poor that you can't read books or videos and the Flash support is not the native Adobe version so even LESS flash games work than normally. Absolute FAIL!
app market compatibility is my main concern when it comes to buying tablets directly from china, since i'm android phone user in US. i guess i should wait until ainol releases english versions.
i don't care about 3d gaming, just smooth webbrowsing experience with flash support.
@Benzo271 Well... a lot of people use torrents. You should download the utorrent freeware."I heard" piratebay is a good way to get movies. This is illegal so proceed at your own risk. Transfer whatever video files you may own to your device or sd card via usb connection.
I'm looking to buy this tablet this week. Can you demonstrate how you found the English setting once you downloaded the ice cream sandwich firmware? Would you trade the basic for the advanced if you could?
@Mahbub734 The battery life is great. My wife never charges her's. With use, she gets at least 8-10. But she just plays words with friends, watches a few movies, and checks e-mail.
@Mahbub734 No, that's the big disappointment with MIPS over Allwinner processors. None of the block buster apps you really want show up on the market with MIPS. I have only read speculation about the Novo 7 Elf having full market access. I have pre-ordered the Elf and will do a review in February.
Another example of retailers not knowing what they are selling. The Novo 7 Elf actually runs the Allwinner processor, which is a good thing. I can't wait to do the review!
im getting the novo paladin im excited for it. i know what im getting since im comming from a cruz t301 so i know all the problems and the lack in support for the mips
Your had an honest review.. Would have liked more commentary of features or lack there of. and seen the problem with the apps blocking installation. either way. love your review great hd video.
@devilmaycry316619 As far as the sub $200 go, I would say the Novo 7 Advanced is the way to go. It should meet all of your listed needs. Just make sure it is Novo 7 Advanced, not Basic.
why i install the app in my novo paladin .. it say appliccation not installed ...
How 2 fix ??

From what I understand, yes the market apps are limited on the paladin. It may play youtube but you will have to side load it from a forum.
