  • If someone can post chords to this masterpiece, I'll be forever grateful to him...

One of my top 5 favorite compositon, so much soul, not seen these days.

  • It's dave stryker on guitar.

  • True Jazz artist, feeling the sou & passion is his music how it should be !!!!

  • I saw Mr. T many times and he never failed to deliver. Awesome tenor with great crossover appeal, sorry pure jazz enthusists. He had it all......go Pittsburgh.

  • I REALLY miss this guy. Thanks for finding this and posting this. Lovely tune.

  • I could not stop watching and listening to this video. It touched my soul.

Truly, we lost one of the greats.

My only regret is that I did not see him at a live performance.

  • Wooooaaaaaaahhhhhh amaaazing...!!!!!! love it

  • that's an amazing sound with a perfect feeling and the way he put the tones just came in the past of the years.... he was fantastic....

  • I hadn't heard of Stanley until I watched a Michael Brecker video where he mentions Stanley as a major influence.... you can really hear that Stanley was a massive influence on Michael's tone and phrasing.

  • This is probably from 1989 or 1990- since the song "Touching" came out on Stanley's 1989 CD "LaPlace" (and the clothes and hairstyles also give away the date). "Touching" was co-written by keyboardist Bobby Lyle. I saw Stanley live in Rochester, New York in 1993 and I have his autograph from that show proudly framed on my wall. "The Sugar Man" was simply the best, the coolest. I really miss him.

  • Do you live in Rochester,NY? I do, I had numerous conversations with Stanley in Rochester and Buffalo up until his death. Last spoke with him in 1999 6 months before his death. A great personality and a very humble cat.

  • The first four notes of the melody he plays says it all ...

you could listen to him play those four notes a hundred times over and never get tired of it. For me ... the best soulful tenor sound ever ..... Check out the other clip "Don't Mess with Mr. T." Also .... his recordings with his wife at the time ... Shirley Scott on B3 .... masterpieces!

  • Definetly, he is "Touching" my heart

Super, prolific and underrated Mr. T.

  • The band:

    Stanley Turrentine-saxophone

    Dave Stryker-guitar

    Bob Fox-piano

    Scott Ambush-bass

    Steve Johns-drums

  • I think that might be Jay Graydon on guitar. And I think the tunes called "Touching You" isn't it?

  • sensual, sexy, smooooth. love it!!1

  • who's the guitar player?

  • He had more feeling in one note than most players have in a whole song.

Listen to his song "Til I'm tired of you"

The song has his brother on the trumpet. - an incredible piece.

  • what year is this from?

  • Love Stanley T., one of my first, and major inspirations of tenor players.....

    He's got that "Cadillac Sound".......

  • One of my favorite Saxman and sooo under rated. Truly one of the best !!!

  • Relatively unknown. But incredibly bluesy and with very much soul! I love him.

  • Stanley Turrentine can have a full 20 minute conversation with you using only his magnificent saxaphone, truly man and instrument were one. Im happy to have been able to see this master play before his passing... Long Live His MUSIC!!!

  • Undisputed heavyweight champion! Sadly half as respected as people with half his talent. Genius and sadly missed. Respect!

  • dang,

this is a great video, and an even better sound. Stanley makes that horn talk.
