Good stuff Paul, though, if I may...the images suggest you're playing it in C, it's actually pitched in D, isn't it? With that in mind, the middle section starting at 35 secs has the wrong chords underneath the correct melody...you stay in a tonic /dominant progression, but the first chord at 35 should be (sounding) G7 then D7, rather than D then A...before arriving at A at 44 & going back to the main theme...it would make all the difference. Best wishes, Muff.
@muff0770 I think when I started making these videos I imagined that most people would have a casual listen and that would be it. What I have since realised is that a lot of keyboard players watch my videos, and I am therefore more careful with the arrangements and avoid using the keyboard's transpose function. Without checking back to the original, I think you are probably right, the mid section is a tone too high - it is most noticeable where it joins back in to the main theme.
I replied to another thread of yours a while back...Sportsnight...but anyway...no, not a tone too high, just the wrong chords underneath! I'm a real pedant for such things, I'm sorry...that you've done so many arrangements is fantastic, & you're obviously a decent player...I shouldn't really moan so...
I'd like to dedicate this to the late great David Vine - many a Sunday i listened to to describing the names of the unpronounceable european skiers - sadly missed
Got the day off work and I'm down the end of the garden in my hiding place playing my old records...Just spun this one up and then thought I'd have a look on Youtube.
Bless my soul my favourite Pianist has done an Excellent cover...Nice one Paul!!!
Pop Looks Bach - Bob Sleigh and The Downhill Racers - 1970
i seen 2 guys playing this in a county show on keyboard one played kettle drum bit and helped the other guy play the melody with other instruments..if only they recorded it a put it on you tube.. it is truely an inspirational theme
Hi Paul, Would you care to try my favourite theme tune - I, Claudius? It's by Wilfred Josephs and if it proves tricky, which for you is unlikely, I may have the sheet music somewhere. Which, as it happens, is far too difficult for me.
This is excellent. As good as Paul's Tomorrow's World on piano which is so good to watch. And strangely as compelling on piano as the original BBC orchestra. Perhaps more so.
What you say in your description struck a chord with me, no pun intended. A military band visited us and we played this with us, quite a workout for the fingers of a 12 year old saxophonist!
You're right it is fairly easy - most of it. The 'turn around' at the end of the phrase is a bit tricky, and it is different the second time as it leads off to G Major instead of C Major.
Slight disagreement on the dedication: should have been Ingemar Stenmark - but that's a very minor point on a series of brilliant piano versions you've recorded!
Hi saunallezellite. Themes have gone very serious and attention grabbing, and no more than about 10 seconds long. Scooby I'm no so sure about but banana splits can definitely go on the list.
Ha Ha.I was about to suggest you do the Jonathan Ross one as well.Just to confirm, youre not Paul Weller from the "Jam".Seriously though, this is become addictive and some of the best piano playing in pop music was done by ELO and Supertramp.Any chance of belting out some of their classics.?
I would refuse to play the Jonathan Ross theme, not out of respect for Jonathan Ross but because it is a crap tune. I am a fan of Paul Weller's work, Wild Wood etc. but no, I'm not Paul Weller. I've added ELO and Supertramp to the list.
Gosh I didn't realise he died within a few days of my publishing his theme tune. I did the same with the vision on tune (see The Gallery) and now Tony Hart has died. Has Chris Moyles got a theme tune?

Aaaaand after trying to play yours by ear, you've transposed your keyboard, haven't you? :P Silly me.

That's interesting, because I've tried to play it by ear and the original version is in D major I think.

Yeah! cool...some of these old theme tunes were actually quite funky, with middle eights and things.
The Scooby-doo theme - or the banana splits theme tunes being the most funky...can you do them? what am i saying! of course you can :)

Look forward to it Paul. These 2 bands were great for their keyboard inclusion.
