It filled him with hate against the North and he's now fighting for his country. I'm not sure if the SK soldiers actually did this but I would imagine so. If war is gonna break out then fine, but leave the innocent out of it.

I enjoy this movie, one due to the lack of coverage of the Korean War and also because it's not from the American perspective making this a civil war with the Koreans fighting each other for their own ideals. My grandfather was in Korea and Vietnam but would not talk about it at all. We did not know about many things he did until after he died and though we're not Korean I feel honored that the Koreans remember this Forgotten War.

Actually, USA did help South Korea to push on and reclaim it's territories, however fearing that Russia and China might get involved, South Korea advanced to North on its own. We almost reunified, but the Chinese military rushed the South Korean front lines, than the UN forces were involved again. I hoped this cleared things up. Also this movie features American Air force during the final battle in the movie.
