This theme is great. I hate that I was born in the early 90's and missed out on seeing these movies originally. I love all the old classic horror movies. Zombies have always been close to my heart as far as horror goes because they are one of the few plausible things from horror. Those crazy Haitians with their chemical that induces a zombie like state.
If you're under 30, you might not understand just WHY this song gives me the shakes to know that it still exists. The movie is unheralded, it is still creepy and it still lives in my darkest of dreams. I have the dvd but, believe it or not, I still haven't had the guts to open it up. A teen today might not understand it but when you were a kid (back in the 70s) and saw this, you were afraid of the darkness....and this song was a warning of it creeping up on you.
@vybe I have to thank my parents for showing me this cool film, and other amzing things. I get this alot, because I absolutely love everything in the 20th century, films music, etc., but i hate the crap coming out today. OLD SOUL is a nice compliment, my friend
@datsome80 Thanks to you and your parents for making the world go around and the reason that I put so much effort into my Youtube channel. You can relive or learn alot from the music and movies there. GOD BLESS your whole family.
My brother took me to c this in the theater when it came out - I was 12. I begged him to take me home after the "eye' scene. Never the same since. This is among the best Zombie flicks EVER made.
Great zombie themes should always be tinged with melancholy. These 80s synth themes have a sadness to them which complements the tragedy of a world filled with only the walking dead - bleak, hopeless. Bowie's "Warsaw" would have made a great zombie theme. Best zombie movies: this one, and "Day of the Dead" - both melancholy as hell.
The only zombie movie that is fully and truly horrifying. When I had first seen this, I didn't want to sleep that following night. Hell, even the theme is legitimately creepy...
@gmariehughes I can't agree with you more. New movies in general aren't that good, but new horror is beyond the suck the other other movies have. Yeah, which is better, another stupid ass ghost story with a typical trailer of flashing lights and a little kid whispering things at you, or Zombi? Zombi. I love Day of the Dead, the old Dawn of the Dead and Zombi so much, I really wish I was alive during the 70s and 80s. Truly unfortunate kids growing up to see such horrid movies. An absolute shame!
@DementedStudios9007 In some ways I agree with you, classics like the dead trilogy by Romero, Mario Bava´s flicks, Argento´s old flicks for mention just a few examples still hold up even nowadays. However I think is unfair to say that nowadays horror movies sucks (and I´m not talking of Resident evil movies, gosh I hate Capcom and Paul Anderson!): movies like The Dawn of the dead remake by Zack Snyders, the Spanish REC and the psychological horror Empire by David Lynch are terrific.
@Gridseeker I mean the NEW new movies. Like the ones that have commercials playing today, those stupid ghost stories. I'll give them a B- for creativity but overall lack of good storytelling and whatnot. The only actual horror ghost story that I felt deserved an A+ was Poltergeist. I won't say ALL new movies suck, just some of the newest additions.
@RealPinkDreams Oh yeah, undeniably. The thing I like about Zombie is that it's a good popcorn film, ya know? Just forget about how much story matters and get straight to the killing. The thing with Romero is that his excellence really surfaces in Day of the Dead, where instead of focusing entirely on the dead, they show the human condition, how the people resisting the living dead act towards each other during an apocalypse going on above ground. The tension and stress building up over time...
@DementedStudios9007 generally , basically and mainly the zombie creatures are too slow and very stupid so the cant run or jump or think or using any item but in LUCIO FULCI and the other directors movies the zombie creatures are too smart and super killers which means completely wrong , bored , suck and tasteless movies or stories but in GEORGE ROMERO,s movies the zombie creatures are very realistic and believable
@RealPinkDreams Oh yeah. In the new zombie films you can't help but laugh at zombies who are faster and in some cases just as smart as the humans. It's really interesting how something that would be more dangerous like fast zombies who have the knowledge to open doors and climb fences we fear far less than slow, dumb zombies. It shows how realistic those slower zombies were and how effective that realism is to us in how much we fear the possibility of them actually attacking the living, ya know?
@DementedStudios9007 the creatures of the 28 DAYS LATER , IM LEGEND , IM OMEGA are much more scary but we cant call them zombie creatures they have another name and zombie movies are not scary because of the creatures but because of the story itself ,, the only good way to make a real scary zombie movie is to put only a few persons between billions of zombie creatures so ROMERO is the only one who can do it again and again , btw those 3 movies are based on that movie THE OMEGA MAN ( 1971 )
@RealPinkDreams Kinda. They all seem more into the running zombie thing, which I can sort of understand seeing as it would be a little bit too boring with just walking zombies and headshots-only. CoD Zombies is pretty good, I must admit.
@DementedStudios9007 well maybe in CoD games there is some extra parts for zombie games like in CoD 5 but DEAD RISING 1 and 2 are much better and the LEFT 4 DEAD is not about zombie creatures at all
I just saw Zombie a couple of years ago. The first 30 minutes were slow and I was gonna turn it off until all of a sudden shit started going crazy and holy fuck!!, It instantly became one of my favourites of all time, The music was just so unbelievably perefect for this flick, I'm glad I didn't turn it off, The intensity of this film can never be matched by any horror movie ever!
MINIMALISTIC ANALOGIC SYNTHIE MUSIC ... AVERAGE SOUND QUALITY BUT SIMPLY THE MOST UNSANE ZOMBIE MOVIE EVER HAIL TO THE SPIRIT OF IL MAESTRO LUCIO FULCI !!!
@Briankiba1 Oh man! I loved Tales From the Crypt. Man I miss shows like that. There was a realness to them or maybe it was just our child like imagination, but shows like that really spooked me out. The Exorcist, The Evil Dead, Fright Night were all good movies. Fright Night wasn't all that scary, but it was just a good movie to watch. I was well into my teens before I could watch the Exorcist and til this day it still gives me the creeps. We will never recapture the realness of that era.
What happend to make films like Zombie Flesheaters such a crap movie amongst everyone now a days? These were the movies that shaped this ENTIRE GENERATION of horror as we know it today. Kids have no idea how much they're missing, wasting time on their little consoles. Who remembers the final scene when NY was over run by zombies and sat in shock for 5 minutes? How time flies.
@Briankiba1 I agree completely. It is very difficult to see a good horror film these days. Even with all the computer technology available the movies of today can't touch the horror flicks of the past. I remember seeing this when I was a child back in the 80's and one of the things that spooked me about this movie was the music and til this day the theme music from this movie freaks me out. I love it. It was a different era back them. Now everything is such crap.
cgi man, All I watch nowadays is anything done by the splat pack(look up splat pack on wikipedia), Those guys only use real gore effects, They will use cgi if it's the last resort but you will never find out where they used it in the movie because it's just for little things. My favourite from the splat pack is Rob Zombie.
This to me is the most realistic ZOMBIE FILM ever made the wood through the woman's eye scene with out turning the camera away close up all the way into her eye ball still have no idea how he pulled that off this is way before cgi too two thumbs up RIP Lucio Fulci the Italiano Maestro of Horror films period he is my idol also reason want to become a director being half Italian makes me proud even more to show mio amore una rispetto.
@TheNightWolf14 I love this movie too but i think the zombies are too slow. When your little friend with worms in the eye wake up he is so slow, the other girl could have run away... but she stay here and she screamed... This was retarded.
@fridaythethirteenfan Yeah she could have ran away but still that is the best Zombie make up I have ever seen in a zombie movie and that is how real Zombies would move slow,I love how he rises up slow see the maggots on his face and worms you know Friday The 13th stole that for Friday The 13th part 6 where they dig him up and has Maggots coming out of his eyes even the way Jason looked in their looked like the Zombie from Lucio Fulci's Zombie, lets the Italians where the true maestros of Gore.
@fridaythethirteenfan Yeah but that just added to the creepiness them rising slow it was the most realistic how they would rise from a grave they do have a lot of dirt on top of them would take a while for them to get out the grave, plus the hand popping up the tomb stone moving that added to it as well because everything would be moving if rising up from a grave,if wasn't for them Hollywood would never had anything to copy off of lol I mean they even ripped of Mario Bava Bay Of Blood,Viva Italy.
Try any independant DVD/CD shop. Most big chain stores won't have it. Theres always the internet as well, whenever I can't find something I go to CD Universe.com.
I remember watching this on Betamax many years ago when I was a little shit.By the cover art I was expecting a Dawn of the Dead type movie but at the time I thought it sucked untill I rewatched it years later.
Hands down one of the best zombie movies ever made!!! im so glad i have this movie!! the zombies look amazing!! better than Romeros blue smurf colored zombies!!
God I gotta get this movie in my DVD Collection. I imagine in my mind how good a remake could be if it was remade by a real fan whom followed the original films course same story same plot. only thing I'd have changed was more Zombie kill scene's this movie ruled over all
It's a damn shame that this movie didn't get the credit it deserved from the critics like Romero's Dawn of the Dead. I mean, yeah Dawn of the Dead has a great plot and a shopping mall, but Fulci shows how visceral and rotten zombies are/and would be if zombies eventually walked the earth. I know that we all get a kick out of watching zombies from the projects painted with blue make-up biting everyone. Unlike DDD, I have had music from Zombie stuck in my head for over 24hrs. It isn't arcade music
@Timeformilking I think this Movie had a magic only us true Zombie loving fans have the knowledge to appreciate. This movies theme's been stuck in my head since I first seen it some 20 years ago
You have to put yourself back in the time when this movie came out. Now there are much better graphics special effects and technology. This was one of the best in its time.
@chozn11 Shit man you can't CGI A Zombie movie, it takes away from so many great horror films when they CGI it up, God I can't imagine the horror of the Thing remake is gonna be. and I don't mean Horror in a good manner. but a terrible mockery of how Awesome Botin's special effects were
@mikkifly yep but if im honest dawn of the dead 1978 is my fav zombie movie ever and my its my seconf fav movie as halloween is my fav horror ever always as been
@edmar916cali You should defo see this film (sorry, movie, I'm from the UK - Scotland). There is some great eyeball-spiking scenes on offer here. If you watch without subtitles then get ready to laugh at the parts where some actors are very poorly dubbed whilst others seem to be speaking perfect English. That's what you get for filming an all Italian film in the USA.
@edmar916cali coming out on blu ray in october. One of the greatest zombie movies ever. It's the italian sequel to night of the living dead by lucio fulci. Fulci zombies in blu ray hell yeah!
Man i love the old school movies music, they are not only nostalgic but scarier than the actual music of horror film nowadays, since we grew up scared of these films xD
Thanks and Thank you for this post. This song used to play for the trailer and I always liked it , now I am able to hear it again. Its the greatest horror theme ever in my opinion.
Absolutely it is. I'm an all around fan for zombie movies, and I do have a soft spot for cheesy ones, so I saw this one hoping for some awesome before-my-time story telling and presentation. Man, I had to stay up the entire night because of this movie and this theme. Even though I'm 19, they sure don't make them like they used to...
Yeah sounds just like "Introduzione, Paura Liberazione" the Gates Of Hell Theme. I love Fabio Frizzi compositions, and I'm also a huge Fulci fan. The only person to master the Zombie outside of our own George A. Romero. Please pay homage to the grandfathers of the Zombie movement.....@Leathercock what a stupid dumd ass thing to say.......you ARE a cock....lmao
@niriop This is one of the immortals. Saw this on a triple bill with Cannibal Ferox and City Of The Living Dead back in 81 at the Goldman theatre in Center City Philadelphia. Those were the days. Sadly, the theatre is now a Starsucks franchise.
A friend and I saw this a long time ago. This theme is awesome and reminds me of the zombies pounding on a door. I like that the music isn't obviuosly scary but it is haunting and conveys a zombie takeover perfectly. "We have to help them...we have to try to help them!"
I love 80's music. Best i've ever heard NICE JOB LUCIO FULCI!!! :D

God I gotta get this movie in my DVD Collection. I imagine in my mind how good a remake could be if it was remade by a real fan whom followed the original films course same story same plot. only thing I'd have changed was more Zombie kill scene's this movie ruled over all
LordEli 1 year ago
This kind of score sticks to your brain. I saw the movie 30 years ago and it still scares the shit out of me. the music is off the chain
junglejedi1 1 year ago
OMG!! This is EPIC! I'd love to hear a remake of this!
actorben 1 year ago
@actorben NO! In the remake the zombies can run. AND THIS SUCKS!
TzRakDanGerLP 1 year ago 4
It's a damn shame that this movie didn't get the credit it deserved from the critics like Romero's Dawn of the Dead. I mean, yeah Dawn of the Dead has a great plot and a shopping mall, but Fulci shows how visceral and rotten zombies are/and would be if zombies eventually walked the earth. I know that we all get a kick out of watching zombies from the projects painted with blue make-up biting everyone. Unlike DDD, I have had music from Zombie stuck in my head for over 24hrs. It isn't arcade music
Timeformilking 1 year ago 2
@Timeformilking I think this Movie had a magic only us true Zombie loving fans have the knowledge to appreciate. This movies theme's been stuck in my head since I first seen it some 20 years ago

You have to put yourself back in the time when this movie came out. Now there are much better graphics special effects and technology. This was one of the best in its time.
chozn11 1 year ago
@chozn11 Shit man you can't CGI A Zombie movie, it takes away from so many great horror films when they CGI it up, God I can't imagine the horror of the Thing remake is gonna be. and I don't mean Horror in a good manner. but a terrible mockery of how Awesome Botin's special effects were
LordEli 1 year ago
Weird music, but pretty good. Nest Zombiemovie beside Dawn of the Dead!

Drivron 1 year ago
@edmar916cali You should defo see this film (sorry, movie, I'm from the UK - Scotland). There is some great eyeball-spiking scenes on offer here. If you watch without subtitles then get ready to laugh at the parts where some actors are very poorly dubbed whilst others seem to be speaking perfect English. That's what you get for filming an all Italian film in the USA.
ablistuk 1 year ago
@edmar916cali coming out on blu ray in october. One of the greatest zombie movies ever. It's the italian sequel to night of the living dead by lucio fulci. Fulci zombies in blu ray hell yeah!

@ErictheACKACKTOR
Absolutely it is. I'm an all around fan for zombie movies, and I do have a soft spot for cheesy ones, so I saw this one hoping for some awesome before-my-time story telling and presentation. Man, I had to stay up the entire night because of this movie and this theme. Even though I'm 19, they sure don't make them like they used to...
firmkillernate 1 year ago 2
Yeah sounds just like "Introduzione, Paura Liberazione" the Gates Of Hell Theme. I love Fabio Frizzi compositions, and I'm also a huge Fulci fan. The only person to master the Zombie outside of our own George A. Romero. Please pay homage to the grandfathers of the Zombie movement.....@Leathercock what a stupid dumd ass thing to say.......you ARE a cock....lmao

One of the very few genuinely creepy horror film themes; still scares the shit out of me every time!
niriop 1 year ago
@niriop This is one of the immortals. Saw this on a triple bill with Cannibal Ferox and City Of The Living Dead back in 81 at the Goldman theatre in Center City Philadelphia. Those were the days. Sadly, the theatre is now a Starsucks franchise.

A friend and I saw this a long time ago. This theme is awesome and reminds me of the zombies pounding on a door. I like that the music isn't obviuosly scary but it is haunting and conveys a zombie takeover perfectly. "We have to help them...we have to try to help them!"
