  • God loves you. Let him deal with your mother.

  • It was great to watch this video and find that it isn't a mea response that's bashing self-injury.

I'm currently 15 years old, and I injured myself for the first time when I was nine, with my pencil sharpener. I stuck my pinky in, and twisted, and I haven't stopped hurting myself since then(though I haven't had any meetings with pencil sharpeners, lately..).

The poem was very moving. 'Nothing will be left but my destruction', was my favorite line.

    Thank you for the video.

  • Dear xbrandehkins your comments are appreciated. It's gutsy to share with us. I respect you greatly. My apologies for a delayed communication as already explained elsewhere in this channel. It is a great honour when another human being of your calibre shares these touchy experiences. We are honoured to be part of your personal struggles and all humans must respect you for that. All these things happen through no fault of your own. Given your unique circumstences it would affect us the same.

  • Right on buddy! self injured only once, and don't do it again! that is the way to stop, don't start. nice poem. Beats 15 years of self injury, I did that, but still stopped. Glad you resolved not to self injure again. Thanks for posting this.

  • Many thanks for positive comments. It would be intructive if you could make a video to share your experiences. It's people like you that will help show others that it's possible to break out of the self-injury.

  • I fully intend to, you hang in there

  • Looking forward to it. Many thanks.

  • That poem was very moving. Poignant. It's hard for me to be surprised about how young both the narrator of the poem and the poster who responded to SullenGirl's video. I was eight when I first hurt myself on purpose. I didn't even know what it was called: "self-injury" when I did it.I didn't learn that it was an actual issue that many many people dealt with until I was 13 several years later.

  • (Continued from previous message) I like the insight you provided about the Tibetan monks. They are people with such strength of heart. Sometimes I feel guilty when I think about people like the monks. I feel inferior and pathetic and think "Why can't I just suck it up and cope with my problems normally?" Thanks for your Insights, ColoredMedicine. Welcome to YouTube.

  • You are already on the right train of thought when you want to "suck it up and cope" but you require good ammunition to fight against harassing feelings and thoughts. Since this is a new channel I will be challenged to provide content. Thank you.

  • Thanks for such a fast response! Yeah, it's the "ammunition" that I can't find. How can a person learn to love themseles enough to combat these hurtful thoughts and pre-dispositions?

  • Hello Nina. My apologies for a delayed response as I was swamped with work. I hope to make a video addressing the issues you raise. In the meanwhile I have just posted a video which at least gives you an idea of my approach to issues. Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks for visiting.
