@55kudu Well, we may yet someday meet beings made of rock/acid/whatever (possibly on Mars, or beyond), and we most likely will misunderstand them and try to kill them. (Humans seem especially good at that.) But my tone was really one of silliness, as this would be VERY far in the future.
@drsloan Oh very good. We will indeed meet beings of another nature far in the future. How we will treat them has yet to be determined. But at least in 1966 they tried to communicate with it, after blasting a hole in the poor creature LOL. Humans are prone to shooting first, asking questions later. One of my personal favorite episodes. Thanks for responding.
Nice turn in this story where we find our assumptions about the Horta are wrong and the miners are (albeit unwittingly) the villains.
