Probably because it's a demo

Their lyrics are often a little different from the performed ones

its mainly to teach the tune

Some lyrics in the show were changed because JRB's ex-wife was pitching a fit, the show is apparently largely autobiographical. He had to change some details because of it. I'm guessing that's why lines like "a town on the Jersey shore" were to changed to a more generic "eastern shore".
