The movies are quite different from the books but for cinematic purposes and are all fantastic.

What I don't get is how Saruman managed to create more powerful orcs than Sauron. I know Saruman was also one of the Maiar but Sauron was more powerful and had more time on his hands. Morgoth also had more time and he was more powerful than both of them but he also failed to make orcs as powerful than the Uruk-Hai. I suppose Morgoth did breed the Balrogs though....
