  • Yes, but you have to subscribe every single month for the rest of your life to keep those DRM tracks. Considering you only get 10 songs a month, and 120 gb can hold 30,000 songs, while you're paying 15 dollars a month, that brings you to a grand total of... $45,000 to fill up your zune with DRM free tracks. They're both shitpiles.

  • Who really buys their music legally? be honest, lol.

  • limewire for the win

  • Your so stupid, you should stop ridiculing Apple's iPod. You should focus on your product and how it's different. This ad makes the iPod sound more popular because your trying to compete with it.

  • @jamie9230 er no they are not, they are explaining how damn bad itunes are.

  • who would need 30,000 songs, i mean seriously!

  • @americasucks100 Apple fanboys and fangirls

  • you're a damn idiot wes moss. what you failed to mention was, before itunes, cd's were $20 a pop. is zune pass that ties you up with a monthly subscription fee better? when you stop paying the subscription, you lose all the songs except the for 10 songs that they throw in. besides zune pass only has a 3 million + song library vs. itunes who has over 6 million.

  • I buy music from store. lol What disturbs me are the people who are advocates for illegally downloading music. It's ridiculous. Many people put their time and effort into that finished product, not to mention they have lives to support and a family to feed. There are more people who are affected by this action than some realize. You wouldn't want to receive 50% of a check from work, so why do you think people in the music industry would? For once I wish people wouldn't think about themselves...

  • @wy424 illegal downloading only cuts 13% of the profit which would have otherwise gone to every musicians corporate constituents and CEO's anyways. It's not really hurting anyone. Secondly, not everyone can afford a high capacity device let alone a dollar per song for them.

  • have you ever heard of lime wire free

  • ugh this guy in the video is stupid he says just how you pay for your music ughh hes a dumbass theres limewire and all other free download sights for music

  • Zune.

Pay 14$ each month for a year you get 120 songs to keep and unlimited streaming.

    Itunes.

Pay 14$ each month for a year you get 168 songs to keep.

I would go with Itunes and stream music off Dizzler for free.

This new Zune thing is bullshit copy and paste if you agree.

  • I agree lol

  • haha microsoft does such a bad job at advertising. they even have to include im not suggesting what you listen to!

  • i feel like microsoft is trying to make this guy like the billy mays of mp3's

  • haha thats funny!

  • Thats really funyy dude!

  • why pay for something that we can get for free?!

  • Zune is $15 = 10 songs iTunes is $10 = 10 songs and plus in Zune u have to wait another month to get 10 more songs

  • Zune.

Pay 14$ each month for a year you get 120 songs to keep and unlimited streaming.

    Itunes.

Pay 14$ each month for a year you get 168 songs to keep.

  • THIS IS A SCAM basicaly what you do is pay $15 for 10 songs somrthing that on itunes would cost you $10!!!

  • Maybe you missed the fact that you can download any song you want. You get to KEEP 10 songs a month. So comparing it to iTunes, you're paying $5 a month for unlimited access to their entire music library. No limit to the number of songs you download.

  • well if you walked into a shop and bought a album but after a mounth they wanted it back what would you do?

  • You aren't BUYING the music, you're subscribing to a service that lets you get any music you want.

    It's completely different.

  • not really microsoft are just jelous because apple is better at 1 thing and 1 thing only at them and its music and lets face it, it is because ms win every were else and they just want money this time

  • Uhhhhh wrong. Apple is not "better" at Music than Microsoft. Apple charges $1.29 for all top char songs, amazon charges $0.99

If you ask me, Apple isn't good at anything.

  • well i would agree but ipods are amazing

  • well, the Macs are quite a bit more amazing than the iPods, so check them out sometime.

  • I own one. :)

  • no, incorrect... Amazon had to raise them to $1.29 a few weeks later... keep in mind, the recording companies set the price, not the distributor.

  • Not really, every online music seller is now doing this.

  • Stop buying music peoples.

  • Microsoft's iPods suck. You Have to fucking install them! And their quality is just horrible. The Center button doesn't even do anything! iPods are just plug in and agree to the terms of use. That's what apple is good at.

  • @TomShayAdams

Thank you, you've confirmed all my theories. Apple makes products for idiots who are very simplistic and can't use complex machinery. First of all, Microsoft doesn't have an iPod, they have an mp3 player. Apple is the only company that has an iPod. You don't "install" an mp3 player, you install software to interface with it (ie sync music)

With the Zune, I think you can just sync it with Windows Media Player without installing any software.

And with an iPod, you NEED iTunes.

  • Wow. I went to New York before and into a shop. I Saw an iPod Nano! i Asked Can I Buy it. They Said sure. I Said Ok. I wasn't familiar with the logo on the back. I asked, are you sure those are the nanos. They sad yes, but they were made by Microsoft. I Have seen and had a microsoft ipod

  • @TomShayAdams

    I really hope you're joking.

iPod is the product name of Apple's MP3 Player.

Zune is the product name of Microsoft's MP3 Player.

I tell you what, why don't you go find me a link to this so called "Microsoft iPod" and post it here so you can prove me wrong.

  • I'm not saying your incorrect. Tell YOU what, Those were my experiences. I went to New York, Went to buy an iPod, found them, the store told me they were made from Microsoft. I can promise you I'm not lying. They might not be made from Microsoft, but I know that apple is not the only one that makes iPods

  • Apple IS the only company that makes iPods. If ANY other company made an iPod, they would find themselves in court for copyright and patent infringement.

Go find me an iPod made by anyone else.

  • DUDE. I CAN'T! I'm saying I swear I saw an iPod that didn't have an ipod logo on the back

  • lol ive seen fake ipods in china.

they make everything illegal in china, including ipod, iphone identical lookalikes with yeah without the pic engraved on the back. dunno if they are any quality tho...

  • @rnawky in what part of that did you get that he was suggesting that you buy the music

  • That's not really true. They're forcing you to pay $15 for 10 songs IS true because you aren't able to keep the other songs untill next month. So you really are paying $15 for 10 songs because you can't put the other songs on anything but Zune. They're like trapping you. You pay $15 a month but if you don't keep 10 of them, your money would be wasted. $5 would have bought 5 songs on iTunes and it would be only $5 next month because you already bought 5 songs last month. Zune would have been $30

  • Wrong. You can play the songs on you get with the Zune pass on any PC you authorize, your zune, and I think ANY MP3 player that supports Microsoft's DRM. iTunes on the other hand, limits you to a PC and ONLY the iPod/iPhone.

  • B***S**T

If you purchase a song, you are AUTHORIZED to use that song on that PC/Mac + up to four other computers at any one time. You can stream that song to an AppleTV and load it onto ANY authorized iPod. You can also burn that track to a CD as many times as you want.

  • or you could say it's $10 for 10 songs and $5 for unlimited song service. If you plan to legally attain your music, there's really no better way.

  • youtube. com/watch?v=0wfIO_TysUk

That's all I have to say, microsoft

  • Zune HD that's all i have to say.

  • what? are you sure that mentioning mp3 player that isnt out, yet it tries to compete with 2 years old player (ipod touch) is good idea? think again

  • 2 year old player?

the original ipod touch came out a year and a half ago but the 2nd gen cam out just iver 6 months ago...

the ipod touch is marketed as the funnest ipod ever, the zune hd looks as if to be marketed to wards people who are purely interested in the best audio/video quality

  • it was launched in september 2007, and zune isnt even announced yet, i doubt it will launch before september, if announcement counted, it would be more than 2 years

also video quality is great on touch/iphone, it can play h.264 in its full resolution with 2000kbps bitrate (or more, 2000 is highest bitrate i tried) and screen looks great too

  • To those iLovers, The point is that you can listen to music anyware for a fee and keep 10 songs a month. Which means that 5 dollars is for the service and the other 10 is for the free songs. And It also lets you try new music and if you like it you can buy it. Many iPod vs zune reviews say that iPod should have a subscription service. And yes, i DO own a zune and i used to own a ipod.

  • what about napsters new service? pay 5$ and you keep 5 songs, listen to as many songs as you like, and you are not bound to device that has less than 5% market share for obvious reasons, it sounds much better than this offer, and for the 10$ left you can get 10 more songs at itunes (since it has bigger music collection)

  • Yeah, that was cool. But isn't napster only going to let you stream it? I have to pay the $5 to hear it here in canada.

  • Yea, that napster idea isn't really the same. you are bound to your computer with that and i don't see how marketshare effects you being bound to a device. also with the zune pass u can use a windows mobile device as well, or u dont need a device at all. itunes no doubt has a larger collection but they are also global which is one big reason why. if u look for any american band, zune will have it. zune is also going global next update.

  • Zune HD. nuFF said.

  • They don't say what's good about their products and services, just how they are supposedly better than their competitor's. This strategy is obviously not working, and zune and iPod has already built their reputations. Its pathetic what they don't tell you: not everybody (most people) don't pay for their music, and if you stop paying for zune pass, all your content is ereased. Who in their right mind thought this would work?

  • If you know anything about Microsoft intentions you would know it's about promoting the services and not so much the device. The music doesn't delete if you don't pay, it just stops working until you pay after like an additional 30 days, so you have time to pay. Plus you get those 10 free songs every time you do pay. Get your facts straight before you make claims. Also, anyone who gets magazines in the mail should understand how a subscription works.

  • I've never had a magazine that destroys itself if i don't pay the bills, i just don't get new ones, and end up reading the same material online :)

Still, the fact that you dont get to keep the songs (except for the measly 10) is pathetic. Just look at market share.

  • Why do people put so much an emphasize on the music not playing. they arn't destroyed, deleted, broken or anything. They just don't play until you pay. I get what your saying about the magazine, not the greatest comparison. Maybe you don't feel the same way, but I much rather rent music I may not listen to a year from now, if I want to keep something that bad, I can get them for free. Plus I can play music anywhere the Zune Software is installed, like a family members or Wi-fi stream.

  • In terms of marketshare, Zune to iPods is Apple OS to Windows OS

  • what you say applies to some people, so this works well for them. Most people I know like to listen to their music for a long period of time, so this service would suit them. And, like me, they are mac uses, and, sinc I am a new yorker, all of us are ipod users :)

I just dont see a point of using a windows machine, then again, im about efficiency and productivity, so why deal with all the hassles (I previously was a PC).

  • well my opinion on u was gonna change, until that last bit.

I guess that really explains why every genius bar I come across is always packed.

  • ahahhahaa. yeahhh. me too, i dont understand how apple products are soooooo efficient and easy to use, but yet, everytime i go to an apple store, they genius bar is packed. Apple fails.

  • But you can only rent the music

  • or you can buy just like in the iTunes Store. But you also get the 10 free songs a month.

  • I love how Microsoft is targeting these ads towards Apple.

  • Who on earth else would they target the ads towards, dork?

  • People who like music and do not want to be bound to how much money you have that exact moment.

With Zune pass, all you need is 15$ a month to have unlimited amount of music. Much better than having 15$ a month and just getting about (since some songs are above 1 dollar) 15 songs a month
