  • I love this.

  • so funny

  • weird but the food look delicious...

  • Jan Svankmajer, make stop motion video before it was cool.

  • stop motion terbaik..aku cdgkan korang tgk!

  • am I the only one ask WTF at the end?

  • Where i find the second part??? Please i want to know...

  • I'm just in love with this.

  • Ein guter Film

  • We are all producers, then consumers. Sooner or later we are both.

  • I haven't seen this short film since Sci-Fi Channel's EXPOSURE.

  • Pixilización

  • Disturbing, yet Marvelous

  • @eXtErMiNaToR1494 i vaguely recall seeing something like this a long time ago on tv or something.... maybe it was on Sesame Street?

  • この作品は現代にも引けをとらない

  • im never eating HOTDOG again

  • am i the only one who heard it? at 6:10 starts On The Beautiful Blue Danube - Johann Strauss.

  • recycling! :D

  • I'm the 1001 number that "I like" this video!

  • Its wrong if I say that this video makes me hungry... what its true?

  • the best surrealist animator... I loved him since I was a child while watching Alice

  • So it's actually the same sausage and bread being eaten over and over. Now that's conservation of resources for you.... Wonder what language the instructions are in, and if they actually say "Kick shin for napkin"...

  • wow. why? WHY?

  • brilliant, I believe the first skit is saying we all take turns being takers and givers; when you take, giving is a socially acceptable means of keeping balance. The second skit appears to be making a statement about rich vs poor. I conclude that this entire film in my opinion is about balance in society. As humans we thrive for balance (ying/yang, god/devil, life/death).

  • @MyTVHasLinesInIt81 who asked you what it was about? just watch the film to enjoy and stop bullshitting about your philosophy of it.. too much thinking is not good..

  • @ege1993 Nobody asked him for his opinion, but this is a free site,so he can say whatever he wants,on a space destined to comments,so there is no reason for you to criticize him.Remember the whole "Freedom Of Speech" thing? You think "Too much thinking is no good".Well,so be happy in your shell and let the others think for you!(And by consequence, manipulating you).I appreciate that.Be free to speak your mind always, @MyTVHasLinesInIt81 !!!!!!!!!!

  • @KingNurk man the only suggestion i made was to not think on this sort of art this much..cuz i mean wats the point? its made to entertain..dont worry i definitely am a thinker, but on this sort of stuff?? i mean cmon its all surrealist and conceptual but..just watch and enjoy and maybe get some inspiration or whatever but i mean all this bullshit about balance in society and bla bla bla fuck that dude who needs that? im sure it wasnt even intentional in the first place

  • @ege1993 true enough. T_T. I view this as art, and I think that everyone interprets art differently. I just thought I would share my interpretation out of respect to the art. but you make a good point, things are often dug into too much until the reality of it no longer exists.

  • @MyTVHasLinesInIt81 thats exactly what i meant..i didnt mean to offend you and i'm sorry if i did..yea whatever just suit yourself :)

  • my god restaurants used to look depressing

  • not for breakfast!!

  • i dont understand how is this art u guys are morons for liking this

  • How is it not, stupid bitch-ass moron? Faggot. Sorry excuse for a human being...etc. Go back under your rock where you came from and STAY THERE with your stupid ass friends, FOREVER.

  • This makes me laugh greatly. ^^

  • They shown one of his movies in TV yesterday (Dimensions of Dialogue). Yay.

  • What the fuck is this?!!!!!

  • Wow, absolutely brilliant! An alternative reality made in awesome stop motionby a master of surrealist current. I think at 8:82 comes a tribute to Charlie Chaplin in the The Gold Rush! B-)

  • holy shit this is so funny

  • Jan Svankmajer is, put simply, an absolute genius. Shame they never show stuff like this on TV any more.

  • I think,Svankmajer hate eating.

  • Mmm! me dio hambre!

  • me siento... perturbada... GENIAL!

  • where's the second part?

  • For Breakfast,

since they eat the bread and sausage, then become a dispenser,

what if they are just eating the same bread and sausage since the elevator could represent their stomach. Just a thought.

  • The guy in 7:56 , does he have two colored eyes or is he wearing contacts?

  • oh my, this just struck me: I'd LOVE to see a Svankmajer movie with a bit of directing fromTarkovski too in it ...

  • His glasses vanish when he wipes his mouth.

  • @Semajer

    nice catch

  • The long hair guy looks like brad pitt

  • ....THIS MAKES ME HUNGRY. D; xD

  • I'm hungry now :/

  • Indeed...

  • I have seen these before, were they ever on the telly at one point, maybe a film festival?

  • @KruegerLot they were on channel 4 early 90's my dad taped them...

  • @cdmharley I knew they were on the telly before, I just didn't know when and what channel they were on.

  • @KruegerLot have you seen the Tron Legacy yet??? daft punk does sound track i noticed u had daft punk vid??

  • na takýchto ludi by sme mali byt hrdi. nemyslím iba slovákov, či čechov, poliakov, ale celkovo cele ludstvo. ma pekne vystizne filmy, ktore ani nemusia trvat dve hodiny a maju pointu.

  • vrlo dobro je to prikazano nema sta svaka CAST

  • vrlo dobro

  • 8:08 lol

  • I don't really know what to think of this, but that could be the point...

It gives me the same feeling I got when watching Salad Fingers for the first time, but it's significantly more sophisticated.

  • damn all those fools eat real nasty haha

i like Jan Svankmajer's stuff:) pretty weird

  • some is stop motion other parts just video?

  • C'est extra!

  • anyone else want what that guys eating?

  • @Linkgreed that was a typical czech sausage , called "klobása" :)

  • If that mechanism was real, there would'nt be any problems with food in the world. Everybody could get a small recycled meal for 3 coins.

  • Does anyone else feel like eating a napkin now?

  • I CANT STOP WATCHING THESE!!!!!!!!!! HALP!

  • was this a horror movie?

  • @kimjae19 It's surrealism, look up Jan Svankmajer and you'll find he makes nightmarish and surreal films.

  • 1:40 he has a gold band watch but shortly after it has a brown leather strap.

  • lol

  • are these real actors?

  • @tom69pl For the most part: obviously the part when they are reaching into another's mouth and pulling out their tongue is animated, but it's real actors mostly.

  • @tom69pl yes, those are czech actors, well known in the czech republic.. :)

  • @tom69pl Yes. Stop motion is also possible with humans.

  • Now I feel like eating, lol.

  • una locura

  • I probably wouldn't eat any of those even if I was starving :/

  • ke lokoooo!!!

  • It reminds me of the way we treat animals to obtain our food but if we HAD to mistreat humans to get food we would stil do it.

  • I Love the fast movements

  • i remember watching this as a child i am now 15 and i couldnt love it even more

  • Wow, this is nice.

  • pure genius. just amsing

  • The second part , the dirty boy is benicio del toro?

  • @rober1650 ahahah..no >D

  • @rober1650 a mi me parece un brad pitt de cabello negro y muy decadente... ( cuando dije esto, mis amigas casi me matan)

  • Il mange sa chaussure, comme dans La Ruée vers l'Or.

  • i wanna vomit

  • O_________________________O Wow.....I'm getting that "oh my god" realisation at the end. I didn't think anything surprises me and yet something this old sends chills down my spine. Fantastic.

  • brad pitt is playin the lunch part :)

  • @ddermend

He's not Brad Pitt xDDD His name is Pavel Marek, but now you mention it.... He looks a bit like him! lol

  • I've never seen a shoe look so delicious.

  • Anybody else feel a tingling sensation in your brain when watching this?

  • @00Jabberwoofles00 its called thinking!

  • Food is by far my favorite of Svankmajer's work.

  • XD I just love how Creepy strange but yet SO amusing this is >:33 I really want to see his Alice in wonderland movie, but unfortunately Ive only seen clips and clips of it on youtube =3=;;

  • nick cave?

    he looks like him.....

  • Švankmajer's 'Alice in wonderland' is really good, we've just finnished watching it in Film Studies, worth watching. I can completely see the realtion between Švankmajer's work and Tim Burtons, I can't wait to see Burtons interpritation of Alice!

  • And for all eternity, that same sausage, piece of toast, and cup of coffee was alternated throughout the entire population Svankmajer.

  • I have never even heard of this kind of film-making. Incredible.

  • Nechápu, že tenhle člověk ještě nedostal státní vyznamenání. Hlavně, že ho dostal Got a jiní... Je to génius!!!!!

  • He is genuinely creative

  • The quick chewing freaks me out and I find the other poorer looking man eating this napkin hot XD

  • I love this... But who eats sausage for breakfast...?

  • Many things can be eaten at breakfast.

  • @litanijebral the cock drinked with semen is far my favourite...if its my cock.

  • @poep85 We do in the UK along with the czech rep and most other Bavarian countries.

  • @poep85 Hundreds of millions of people.

  • @poep85 people who order "sausage and eggs"

  • Que buen viaje de corto!!

  • this video its so creative, i love it!

  • Tha bit where he at his shoe is like something out of a Charlie Chaplin short!

  • this is cool

  • Holy......what? This is....insane but amazingly imaginative!

  • ausome my film class teachure Reggie showed me this man

  • I LOVE IT (: is really meaningful ...

  • I love this video,it's awesome

  • they're all eating the same food... gross... awesome...weird...i love it!!!

  • the first part of the three meals, breakfast, was my favorite, and this video is brilliant. I think breakfast shows how we can be robotic in some terms. (wake up, eat, work, bed) I give it a 10.

  • I don't want to contradict your view.. but for me, "Breakfast" shows, how modern jobs can affect people.. they're becoming robotic, like you said, but they're also getting treated like a robot, they have to "function". E.G. when you are working as a cook, you just have to make a meal, nothing more. It's like someone sticks some coins in your throat and gets a meal for it, nothing more. This is, what I see in it. But you may be right as well.. I think, Svankmajer wants to be arguable in his work.

  • thanks, youre view is good too.

  • I agree with this and have something to add. I wondered for a while why in Part 1 he's got two 'switches' of the food provider/person who eats. I think it's to show how the older people haven't adjusted to this lifestyle yet- you see how the first guy (who is older) has to read the instructions several times, and the second younger red-bearded santa guy is in and out in a minute. Just my $.02

  • @Theaceoffate Absolutely. Svankmajer emerged from a movement of underground artists in 50s Czechoslovakia. The whole of 'Food' can be seen as a reaction against the Communist dehumanising of society and, in 'Breakfast', the workforce in particular.

  • Very "Gold Rush" that shoe-eating :)

    Amazing.

  • xDDDD

  • Let me guess, the guy is gonna eat his foot.

  • Very awesome and very very funny!

  • Absolute brilliance. I think my brain may have just exploded.

  • yum shoe.

  • slighty problem....before the 1st man wiped his mouth he had glasses on. while he wiped his mouth he didn't. and right after he did.

  • After everything that happens in this film you're complaining about continuity? Great work there sport.

  • i'm not saying it makes the film bad, i don't think it was very obvious.

but i thought i'd point it out since i noticed. no harm in that

  • I remember i saw this on tv it was plain weird

  • lol this is funny

  • The men who finish their meal and go into some kind of robot state in order to prepare food for the next man are surely supposed to suggest a chain of dependence of some kind. But I'm puzzled as to what kind.

  • If you are in US search for "Indian restaurant locator"

  • thanks for posting.

  • I had an honor to meet pana Jana Švankmajera on Zagreb Animafest in 2000.

  • yes, awesome thanks for posting !

  • WOW bellissimoooo!

  • that breakfast looked fucking sick!
