yeah they to hurt alot when dropped on ur feet. a few minutes ago i dropped a sai and i must have jumped ten feet away from the falling sai and i did run into my sofa when i jumped
I love your knuckels, they can do serious damage. of course mine cand do to ( mine are flat ) becuase a sai is made of stell and trust me i tried; you can really really hurt yourself or knocout someone ( i just shook them up pretty bad, we were spparing :) )
My sai's are blunt and about a pound and a half each. I am a practioner of Savate and my trainer's last wish (he died a few years back) was for me to learn how to use the sai as a supplement to my training, so here I am watching a few videos before I start.
My question: Where should I practice so that if they fall, they don't damage my floor. I have a pool and a cement back yard so grass isn't an option. Thanks in advance.
hey, Melaye again... You are so awesome, but I must be dense.. I can't seem to figure out what you'e doing when you flip the sai the other way... the thumb doest seem to get the grip?? Im so confused.. I got it going outwards, but can you share once again how to flip the reverse way.. ??... maybe a vid with your back to the camera so I can mirror image you.. I'd really appreciate it!!! Thank you!!!!! Lov your work and ALL of your great videos!!
coool! Yah I got mine at Shureido USA mine just got in this morning! and i am really happy with them the yoku (prong) are perfect! I will post a video soon! showing how they look!
My sai are about 2 or 3 pounds too. If you practice with them your forearm wont hurt as much over time. Just practice like 20 minutes a day. It also helps if you just play around with them so you get use to the weight and feel of them. I actually got mine from a company called Worbington Steel. You can find them on ebay, they make high quality sai.
I have a question.

hey, i have a question.
how long are your sai's?
i ask because i'm thinking about getting a pair next month and the place where im buying them from has them avavailable from 15 to 21 inches. -Yawdi

Mine are the 21 inch ones. Measure from your elbow to your index finger. Remember you want like an inch of the blade to extend past your elbow.
