Hey!? Your not suggesting people steal healthy birds from their nests are you!? Its illegal if to interfere with protected species and theres plenty of abandoned, sick or injured birds that would love your attention!
@ellaova Just so you know magpies are not protected and are actually classed as pets and people do kill them and catch them to attract other magpies resulting in them being all killed. This video isnt intenting for the birds to be killed just as a pet as they're very lovable birds. When i ever i have the chance to help sick animals or birds i try and help them but usually they're wild and die from shock. Magpies kill and disturb protected birds. Magpies are not protected, they are the pests.
...And again if you read any of the literature you would know that professionals advise to take ORPHANED wild baby birds to responsible rehabilitators, so that they can be responsibly released back into the wild....
@beasonefoundation Yes thats really great. Magpie's are pests. They're not a protected bird, theres loads of them. Get a grip of yourself. Whats wrong with a pet magpie of around 6 and keeping it as a pet, well fed, well kept? Hmm?
I cant believe you tell people its o.k. to go steal wild baby birds from nests, which in most parts of the world is illegal! If you read in EVERY ARTICLE SERIOUS ABOUT WILDLIFE REHABILITATION, the very first option is ALWAYS to try to leave the baby with their mothers...wild birds do not EXIST solely for our pleasure,or to be our pets, objects we can just go and steal when we feel like having an illegal wild pet...
Magpie's are not protected birds and are pests. Thats why people catch them in cages and drown them. How about you go bitch on videos where they are harmed. Magpies eat and kill PROTECTED birds chicks and eggs. Get a grip.

Yes if they can fly and that, but sometimes if they get too tame they wont defend for themselves and survive. Sometimes when they get spooked they go scatty and cant really be sociable then you should let them go and will be fine
Well it depends how tame they are i think as i have one atm and its really tame and its only just grasping to eat by itself though its quite young. But as it gets older it will eventually be able to eat by itself if you leave some food out and maybe try and teach it. It probably only eats 2 mouthfuls as it has had enough in the morning if you leave the food out. If let free they have a chance of not surviving depending on how tame they are but they might stay around for food.
@i2iz2Anna i found a baby magpie this morning on my way to work.
it looked as it fell off from the nest and unable to fly.
i picked it up and was about to take it home with me but i heard the mother calling and also stared to following me jumping from a tree to another tree,i felt bad so i brought it back and left it at the bottm of the tree,do you think the mother magpie is able to take it back to the nest or should i go back and try to save it??
im pretty sure the mother wont be able to put it back in the nest as they are quite heavy and big and is at danger left at the bottom.. you could either try and put it back in the nest or look after it yourself or something like that? :)
that was really something :P i have a big nest like that in the (uk) and all you hear is them but the nest is in a big like chirstmas tree sorta thing looks really good but i dare go near them :D
Najs thx! When they get old what you give them to eat than?

@i2iz2Anna - my local vet said that canned kitten food is the next best thing if you can't get the right baby bird food.
verticalsmurf 11 months ago
@verticalsmurf they eat raw meat in the wild. mine used to eat baby mice, which you can buy frozen from the pet shop. egg is another good food
