my boxer did this a few times last year and just did it again...i rubbed under his mouth and down his neck - just like petting him - and got him to lick my hand a few times and it stopped.
Hi I think my boxer has started having tremors too - please take a look at my video - any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, just want to say thanks as we found your video which is exactly what Beau is doing - we were getting so worried as her bloods etc came back normal from the vets - so thank you for posting it :)
Yeah, the head shake is the same, but it is all in the top of the neck. I am not a Vet but have put a lot of research into this. The shoulders stay calm so it is not a siezure, so I would stay away from any unneeded medication, I only use Confortis, Heartgaurd and yearly vaccines. Don't feed her crappy treats or food! When we removed all the dyes and dog "junk food" the symptoms went away. She eats "Wellness" dog food and 1-2 scrambled eggs mixed in with some powdered glucosamine good luck
My third boxer started doing this also. I noticed it always started right after waking up so it got me thinking, I wonder if he's just not fully awake. I slapped my hands together making a loud noise and like flipping a switch it stopped. I've done this every time since then and it works without delay. Please try it for yourself, I guarantee it will work!!!!!!!! LOVE BOXERS
I believe out bulldog's head tremors are food related. As soon as we changed her food and got an ear inflammation cleared up, so did her tremors. May be just coincidence, but her tremors have subsided and have only recurred when she's eaten things she isn't supposed to (dairy and chicken).
Our dog had this, we went to a few vets to get more info and wound up medicating her which was terrible. No head bobbing but a little zombie like. We took her off the meds and my wife started researching online. We noticed that she seemed to have ear itches that corresponded to her tremors. Long story short, we started modifying her diet by using different types of foods. We think that in our case her problem was tied to food allergies as she seems fine now on her restricted diet.
My boxer is doing the same exact thing... but we had already changed his food a while back to Blue Buffalo.... It was strange watching this because your boxer is a replica of mine! Not many all white boxers out there!! But I was starting to question if it could be stress related because we are military and just moved far away.....
i have a 3yr old boxer and shakes just like this and found out giving just a little of peanut butter lets him be busy licking and not shaking long enough for him to stop completely....i highly recommend this unless you think your dog might have an allergic reaction
Thank you SO much for posting this! I have been terrified. My 2 yr old male boxer just started doing this EXACT thing. I knew it wasnt a seizure because if i applied steady pressure to his head it would stop. ...nurse,...thats how we test it in people too. But neverless, I was worried for my baby. I too just started giving him a flavored rawhide and bbq flavored treats! THANK YOU!!!!!
No...to all of the above. We just did a little research and changed her food, took her off probiotics and started a journal. The food change seemed to make the biggest difference, also try to avoid cheap doggy treats. It's odd but the only time she has tremors now is when there is an approaching rain front - I guess it's the change in atmospheric pressure:)
So is there no diagnosis?? My vet is trying to tell me this is epilepsy too, but the fact that he is alert and evreything else is normal sounds like it doesnt fall under that category. I have 10 month old puppy who just started doing this and has done so for 2 nights in a row
I have a 8 month old boxer that just started this head tremors. I was very worried took her to a neurologist and by look at one video they said its focal seizers and wants me to start medication and i don't think i am. I am going to take her to get allergy testing and maybe try changing her food. we did have problems with dry food when she was younger if you are giving dry food to your boxer that has this problem what are you giving them??
We feed Lily Wellness brand food, but really any brand that does not have filler such as corn will work. We also mix it with either a cooked egg or cooked ground turkey/hamburger (no added salt). This just adds some extra vitamins.
Hey Tako... my dog has the same thing... american bulldog/english bulldog mix. I've had him to the vet several times b/c of it- doc says not to worry- that certain breeds are prone to these sorts of tremors. Not that you shouldn't have her checked out- but if you search this on youtube- you'll find TONS of other boxer/bulldog breeds that exhibit the same type of tremor. Good luck to you!
My Girl will still have a mild tremor every now and then, 3-5 a year. I feed her 1/2 - 3/4 cup boiled chicken or ground turkey and beef with her dry food twice a day. Also give a glucosamin/ chondroitin pill crushed and mixed into the food 1 time a day. otherwise she is just a BOXER.
my boxers also go through this head tremor they can last 20 seconds to 2 minutes. We give them organic peanut butter on the roof of their mouths when it starts and 99% of the time it stops it as they lick off the peanut butter. our vet says its not serious but we keep a journal of when it happens, how long it goes, what they ate that day and how long in between meals. We found that a probiotic pill was causing one of ours to do it everytime......nice looking boxers you have
My 2 year old boxer/mastiff mix is having the same tremors. It started a few months back and happened once a month. Lately it has been happening weekly.
Once he calms down it goes away. Is your dog still having the tremors? What is the best treatment, if any?
I have a 2 yr old female boxer bulldog that does the same thing. Misdiagnosis of epilepsy. Took her off Phenobarbital because it took away her personality. It happened randomly for 2mos. and stopped. It's doesn't harm her or affect her lifespan. We just try to distract her.
this is EXACTLY what happens to my frenchie. she had some episodes when she was pregnant 2 years ago, but now she's been having head tremors for 3 days. actually when she wakes up *completely* she stops shaking (after I give her something to eat of make her walk a bit). any suggestions?
Hi,I was wondering if you managed to identify the cause of the tremor. I have a male boxer aged 3.5 yrs and he occasionaly has these episodes in the evening. I give his a treat to chew and it quickly stops. I hope Lilly is OK.
I was wondering if you ever found out what caused the tremors in your boxer. I have a 3.5 year old male whose had about 3 or 4 of these episodes lasting for a few seconds up to about a minute. I think it's common in boxers, but I thought you might have a definate answer. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for posting this. My Boxer has just started suffering from the same problem. Being able to view and see other dogs doing the same thing helps me to more clearly share his problem with my vet. Currently I'm trying to get a video of my boy while having one of these tremors. But at least if I can't get one I can show my veterinarian your video to help me explain what he is doing.
I'm pleased to say from what I hear this is NOT life threatening. Thank Goodness! Hugs to your precious girl.

Try to give him Vitamin B Complex (by Ratiopharm). Also Bullys do this. You don´t have to be afraid. Just try Vitamin B.

Most of the times the food (kibble) is to blame.
Many dogs (especially boxers) have problem with dry food.
Stop feeding dry food and evrything that has preservatives (dog biscuits etch)
Feed only fresh food, cook for your dog or try barf (raw).

My oldest Boxer has this as well. It's scarier for us as parents than it is for them. Both of yours are beautiful.

I love boxers, by the way, and she is beautiful.
