Well Mayans did not have access to Cardamom, that plant is native India. The recipe is most likely a non true Mayan recipe. Mayans use the real cocoa, chili peppers, grind corn and sometime honey (it's not a suppose to be a sweet drink but taste real good if fresh organic indigents are used). But I guess the adding a spice gives it the ancient mesoamerican feeling.

The only flaw is that you added milk, and the mayans didn't. It's much more healthy if you don't add milk as milk inhibits the magnesium absorption.
