The one problem people have with the FDA is the government telling you what you can put in your body. If you know your stuff and you are willing to take the risk and take a drug that isnt FDA approved that is your right but most of the time the government tries to stop you because it isnt FDA approved. I think the laws need to change a bit, give a little more leway rather than just saying fuck you FDA go away, because thats always an initial reaction to someone telling you what to do.

There are side effects of drugs on the market and they are listed on the bottle and those drugs are taken because the benefits outweigh the risks, the ones that are not FDA approved have the risks out weigh the benefits. And ppl dont know "their stuff" not everyone is a scientist and most rely on google and youtube, which is not a reliable source to do the job of the FDA for themselves.

@scienceatheism clearly u didnt understand what I wrote, I said if the benefit out weighs the risk then its considered safe to take, not the other way round like risk outweighing benefit, like if I want to take an acne medication but the side effect is death then no its not going to be FDA approved but if its a drug to treat a terminal illness and the side effect is a skin rash then yes the FDA will approve it. nd Cancer drugs that are proven to work are approved the ones that dont are not

The drug could lead to death, other health issues but said drug could also be the answer to your terminal illness. @scienceatheism yes and like I told you, drugs are approved based on the condition and the risk vs benefits, if the condition is a terminal illness then the risks can be death and the drug can still be approved if the benefit may be a cure. Cancer drugs are not 100% safe and everyone knows it but if its either you're guaranteed to die or you may have a chance with chemo then you take chemo. when it comes to a drug for a terminal illness if its not approved that means it doesnt work! aka a scam!

That means one person can lose out on a potential life saving drug simply because FDA makes that drug look like a scam because they havnt approved of it yet, it takes years for it to be approved. A lot of scientists would be very happy without the FDA breathing down their necks, but the FDA isn't all bureaucrats, there are a lot of scientists like Francis Kelsey who prevented the selling of Thalidomide. I agree that people should be free to choose which drugs they put in their bodies, but then I think of all the snake oil salesmen and the people they take advantage of. We got the FDA the year I was born 1988. What did we do all that time before? It was probably better. With or without an FDA there will be drugs you shouldn't put in your body. We need to get to the doctors and medical people deciding what we need instead of bureaucrats. I mean what does a doctor spend 8 years of school for? I like Paul he's smart. And his solution is that if a state feels they need this let the state establish it. Then if another state doesn't let them do it. And COMPETE.
