  • what was the drawing time?

  • @Buraion It took me 3 hrs lol

  • Purely wonderful

  • I mean its wonderful but this small something is missing that makes me go WOW which this cene usually gives me

  • The expression thats on mary elizabeth winsteads face when scott opens his eyes is impossible to capture in a painting :( i havent seen a drawing of her with that very same face, but you did best of all who tried by now ;)

  • WRONG HEAD SHAPE

  • Very nice!

  • holy shit thats crazy. my school needs new teachers and u shuld come teach art at mine cuz thats wat we need to learn. not reading out of a lame ass book.

  • I swear to god in the film that scott sings this to ramona

  • That is freakin amazing!

  • Wow man, that's art! Your rock! Wish I could draw like that... I mean, I'm still 12, lol whatever. Just be my art teacher. :D

  • @TheShadowMaster98 Thank you! haha I would love to be your art teacher :) Just keep in mind you can get as far as you want with persistence. :) Just keep at it! I have a few tutorials on how to draw facial features if your interested. Take care!<3

  • It must take a lot of practice to sketch and pastel together to make such a wonderful piece of art. I'm a sketch artist and wish to advance to become as good as you. I'm excited to see that someone out there has such a wonderful gift. And love the song! :)

  • @TreManciel Thank you :) it is a trial and error process but it is very fun to blend colors in pastels. You are lucky to have sketching on your side! I struggle with creating outlines (I usually don't film the outline because I am constantly erasing!) lol You will have a much easier time creating a realistic & dynamic looking picture. I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with blending & color techniques. You think I'm advanced? ha I wish I could do outlines! xD but thank you :D <333

  • i wish you would have had a shot keeping the cam perpendicular to the portrait :) but amazing stuff! keep it up!!

  • @pjnEo9974 I know man! I totally wish I could do that. The set up is difficult though. I'm not sure how other people on youtube get an aerial view of their portraits while they are in the middle of drawing. Thank you though! :D

  • INSTANT liked & subscribed

  • @NagiSanzeninX wow! haha glad you enjoyed it that much!

  • @HeatherLeBas the expo was on 28th may it was epic!

  • @thefinalriot2012 I'm sure it was!!! :D Must have been an exciting day :)

  • I keep thinking you're colouring with lipstick o.0

    Awesome job!

  • @gglilg500 LOL! That would be really cool but I'd imagine VERY messy xD

  • @HeatherLeBas LOL Yeah. :3

  • wow, great job.

  • @robojohnny thanks! :) It was fun I'll have to make another pic of her.

  • AWESOME

  • @mewax42 twas an awesome movie ;D

  • Wow tht looks exactly like ramona. Iv gotta dress up as her next month 4 the anime xpo in London :)

  • @thefinalriot2012 THAT SOUNDS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want her hair :0 Have you dressed up as her yet? Or is is soon?

  • @xfeebeex1 that is so nice of you to say! I definitely strive to capture emotion in my work. I am really happy you see that<3333 SCOTT PILGRIM FTW :D

  • Incredible job. The only criticism I have is that the lips should really be more red than pink, and more clearly defined. But love-love-love the eyes, you really captured Ramona's/Mary Elizabeth's spirit and mannerisms in this artwork. :)

  • Alright dope. I'm excited.

  • Yeah definitely. Just email me and we'll figure the whole thing out. A YouTube comment board isn't exactly where I like to do business and plus I had a question. flux_vomika@yahoo.com

Hope to hear from you soon. :)

  • @Vomikz77 I will email you :]

  • I so want to buy this. Like seriously, I even know where in my room I want to put it. And I don't just buy art. The way you captured Mary Elizabeth Winstead's unique beauty as Ramona and just recreated it with your own hands is just.. Insane.

  • @Vomikz77 Your comment is so sweet :] what a compliment ^_^ If you want the original I'm selling them for $20 plus shipping. I'm testing out Kinko's I recently printed a 14" x 11" & it looks nice although the colors are a bit distorted. I'm going to see what this picture looks like with there scan (same dimensions) If you are interested please get back to me<3

  • marry me? :D

  • @SCOTTpilgrimist12 :D i see ur a fan of Scott Pilgrim ^_^ hehe

  • Pastels look like they wear out easy. But still I'd love to try this out.

  • @TheGodOfPegana i kill my white pastels but the other ones don't go as quick as you would think. I don't use them very often though. You should try them out :]

  • Amazing work, well done.

I'd love to be able to use pastels to bring a bit more life into my drawings but I can't really get the hang of using them :(

  • @sean91LFC they are a bit tricky not going to lie. I suggest layering colors. I've always been obsessed with having my art look opaque. I don't really like to work with texture/materials that leaves spaces. Thats why I've always despised crayons. Oil pastel is the same in a sense but it gives you alot more options then crayons because of its more pliable texture. I learned you can somewhat smear around the color with oil pastels. So I use different colors to smudge out others & color pencils

  • So hope that helps a little. I would suggest trying out some doodles & figuring out how you can manipulate the medium to get it how you want it too. I manipulate the majority of my work with colored pencil. Maybe draw a flower, start with a base layer of oil pastel just to get a general out line & color fill. Then Go back in with another color thats relatively similar & press down more then you did before. You can also give the colored pencils a shot :] Tell me how it works out<3

  • I am in lesbians with this portrait. How did you make this time lapse video?

  • @ChinoMasFino LMAO! thanks! xDD I made this video through windows movie maker. I edited out the background sound & sped it up in effects. Some of the clips are faster then others. Thats because if all of them were going full speed windows movie maker would crash on my computer. Also its more interesting with varying speed corresponding with the song. Unfortunately now I cant use windows movie maker because I got a new camera & movie maker cant work with mp4 :( I'll find something else instead :]

  • @HeatherLeBas I'm on a mac, so I guess that means I'm going to have to figure out how to coordinate my camera and imovie...btw, have you tried soft pastels? this video makes me want to try drawing ramona or another portrait with them. soft pastels are quite easy to blend. though you would have to seal them with a fixative to stop them from smudging.

  • @ChinoMasFino Your very lucky. I really wish I had a mac right now, my camera would be compatible & I could edit my footage but now I think I might have to get a new camera :< either that or find a new program.. or something. iMovie should be very easy for you to use & you can do the same thing I do by speeding things up. Must say it is a bit irritating filming yourself drawing. I feel like the tripod steals my space & it gets annoying when it hits its max time limit but ur still drawing -_-

  • @ChinoMasFino As for the pastels, I have used them before & I was actually considering getting some recently. But I wanted to read some reviews & find the best brand & price. They are easy to use but they are verrrrrrrry messy. Especially when I use them because I'm obsessed with making my drawings & paintings opaque. They are alot of fun though thats forsure. & the blending is great too. It might get on my nerves if the pigment flaked off & lost its color. I guess i could just spray it :]

  • INSTANT suscribing :D

  • @GOLDENOZZY aw! thanks!!!! I'm glad you like my art that much ^_^

  • Sorry haven't been on your page in a while. Well it seems you are getting offers for the original. It is that good. I would up it to 80 dollars if you were selling the original. For a redo of green hair what is your fancy? Peace!!! Keep up the great work!!!

  • That's awesome :D

  • @INVUvids thanks :]]]

  • do you find it easier to use pastels over oil paint?

i could never get the hang of oil pastels. your work is amaaazing [:

  • @athousandwordsx GREAT question. I'm not going to lie its not a walk in the park using oil pastels but I find it alot more manageable when you use colored pencils. In alot of ways for me I think its harder to pull off a photo realistic portrait with oil pastels then with oil paint. When I use the oil paint & colored pencils blending is smooth & can mimic shadows & facial details. The oil pastels have the ability to give more interesting hatch-marks, ect but can be messier. There both fun tho :]

  • This is beautiful, you've got a great touch for this!

  • @aldalilja thank you! Mixing oil pastel with colored pencil is a fun & challenging technique for me to execute. I'm glad you like it!

  • @HeatherLeBas Yeah, it came out great. I might try it myself sometime! :)

  • @aldalilja definitely! its a whole new experience.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

    your talented man...

    :) :) :)

  • @m0plus0m love this movie! 60$ for this...

but if it was my painting I would never sell it!

  • @m0plus0m hehe well you know, I figure that by giving it away & having someone hang it up & display it is better than me storing it away in a dark corner but I agree with you. I don't think I could sell the original because its my best oil pastel drawing up to date. Its a milestone for how far I've come with art. But if you are interested in a print or for me to redo do this in oil pastel, these options are available on my website under commission heatherlebas. com oil pastel- $45, a print $25.

  • @m0plus0m why zank you ;D

  • I will pay 50$ for a hand drawn copy of that

  • @fukedyamum My oil pastel drawing commissions are $45 plus $3 shipping (you save $2 LOL) :D I would be more then happy to do that drawing for you, or if you would like a print that is also something I offer. If you are still interested please go to my commission page @ heatherlebas . com :]

    <333

  • I rate you total pro drawer

  • @fukedyamum thats very sweet of you :] Id like to think I'm advanced that way I still have my eye on the prize of becoming a pro hehe

  • that awsome well done :D

  • @ritzier666 thank you!

  • I agree 45 seems fair. Are you doing any other projects coming up? Keep me posted.

  • @vroyen Good I'm glad you feel that way. :] I thought so too. If I cheapened it I would be working for less then minimum wage (for California @ least) I am working on a new project currently actually. I am doing a holiday series of my favorite youtubers. I'm trying to crank out 7 before Christmas (LOL I know, I'm in for it!) Did you have something in mind? :]

  • Comment removed

  • Name your price for the original?

  • @vroyen I would say about 45 for this one. What do you think?

  • @Huesojuan its called fast motion daaaah

  • I would buy this very good artwork and attention to detail. The movie was great and you captured her smile and eyes perfectly keep up the great work and let me know if you ever let anything go to market.

  • @vroyen I'm glad to hear my art interests you. I would be willing to recreate this piece or perhaps give you the original. :]

  • Cheater. You're clearly using steroids.

  • @porcupine162 LOL :] Too funny xD

  • For Real, the comics are cult already, the movie is gonna be it too, or is it just yet...

    Scott Pilgrim is just awesome!!

I really enjoy your tribute, its a really nice painting :D

  • @NesalaxD thanks! I see why it would be a cult. I've never seen anything like that before.

  • @HeatherLeBas And just for Record: Im a Boy :D

  • @NesalaxD woot woot :] I knew my art was unisex! lol

  • do any boys watch this video

  • @lewischeats123 i think some do. My stats show my audience is mostly female but I want my art to appeal to all genders :]

  • @HeatherLeBas i'm a guy and wow that's an amazing piece yuu drew ;) do yuu have a deviant art account? i want your skill, i can only draw anime and i fail sooo hard at real life... x/

i want to try drawing Ramona but i just can't... :(

  • i am 10 years old and i am trying to copy this picture and i have impressed myself

  • @lewischeats123 I'm sorry I didn't reply back to this quicker but I wanted to let you know I thinks its great your starting early! If you are really dedicated & make it a habit to draw a few times a week, you can be a pro. That is my short coming, I don't practice as much as I should!

  • this is absolutely amazing!

    your art blows me away!

    and you're stunningly gorgeous!

    keep it up <33

  • @EricaExplicit aw thank you!!!! :]]] I will keep it up :] I'm having a lot of fun experimenting at the moment ^_^ hopefully I'll be able to upload by this week. <3 thanks again for being so sweet!

  • how long does this take? seems a loot of work

  • @haipa007 this took me around 7 hours :p i worked on it one day & finished it another so I wasn't working on it 7hrs straight thankfully xD

  • Very impressed with the color blending :) The movie havent started on cinemas in Norway but I cant wait to see it...

  • @ArtooHD Blending the colors was a fun little challenge hehe that kinda sucks you have to wait though. How about you just fly over here & we can go see it xD

  • @HeatherLeBas If I had the chance to fly to america I would in a heartbeat!

  • @ArtooHD I would like to visit Norway :] Europe in general has alot of interesting history & art. I went to France, Britain, & Rome but going back would be wonderful.

  • I love it =)

  • @o0oidk :D yay

  • all the time it looks like well not so good and than in the and you see you made it with a slight look to the left or right I don't know but that is very difficult I think and well yeah end result it's realy sweet and good looking so nice ö keep going :D

  • @Stranio34 thanks! that's whats so great about art. Eventually it comes together. :]

  • Soooo amazing. <3

  • @kinzythefreak thanks! & also thanks for *liking* it. haha the notice came up on my front page ^_^

  • Youre such a young pro!!

  • @29Msgreen cant wait to see what my skills are when im 90... well I'd probably get arthritis & have to retire the hobby :/ but its amazing how much you can learn from one drawing. I'm curious how far I can take it.

  • awesome!!!!

  • @FashionElites thanks!!<3

  • you are incredible.i love it...

  • @haipa007 aw thanks :] When I finally finish drawing a picture it is an incredible feeling. The whole time I'm working I am anxious, in a good & bad way but then when I am finished its a sigh of relief.

  • Looks awesome, the eyes are a little different but eyes are insnaely difficult. Good job on the hair too.

Next time could you show us the entire thing head on? It's hard to appreciate it from an angle..

    :)

  • @InTheLittleWoods I would like to but I cant shoot head on. The way that I am positioned I would be in the way of the camera. :[ I have done a bit of investigating how other people film their art. Some people actually do it upside down so the art is facing the camera but I am not skilled at drawing upside down. I work with a tripod & a camera that don't belong together so I have to use a jump rope to attach them so it holds in place. The closest I got to a good angle was 1:28 any suggestions?

  • @HeatherLeBas No no, I mean the end product. Can you show it us head on next time? :)

  • @InTheLittleWoods aww i see yes. xD I should have gotten a better end shot! I was planning on using the scanned image but for some reason it makes the colors look warped & makes the whole thing look bad.I still need to figure out a better way to film though & get a job so I can upgrade my equipment. ^_^

  • EXCELLENT JOB!!!!

    loveee it!!

  • @Jbiscuit22 thanks! I worked really hard :]

  • @HeatherLeBas CAN YOU TEACH MEEEE

  • @HeatherLeBas i tried many time FAILED
