And freedom isn't the ability to do whatever you want - that's anarchy. Freedom is the ability to do what's right. Of course, "What' Right" is another endless topic with those that do not first accept that there is a God.
Sorry for the many posts. It's just that I had to put it to atheists. That we're not insane. That the fruit of our faith is very tangible in our real lives. They can be so aggressive, dismissing us as ignorant, uneducated, brainwashed fanatics. When usually, they are such.
God never takes anything away without giving something much better in it's place. And it's not necessarily material. This is why true Christians are able to be happy and content in even the poorest, most difficult circumstances. Because their satisfaction in life isn't directly tied to material things, although they do enjoy them in a healthy context, when available. It's just that they are truly free.
But alone with himself, the man realizes that the void in his heart is still there - a gaping hole that only God can fill. And yet they've been lied to that if they come to God, then they will have to live this boring life of rules, restrictions, no fun, and only boring servitude to Him. At this point they don't realize that after He changes them, they will be set free from addiction to the old, "fun" sins. They will lose taste for them, and finally see them for the sad and shallow acts they are
Of course, many people do not hit rock bottom, and consider themselves to be good people. However they still have that void in their heart - a lack of satisfaction and true purpose in life. So they seek it in various forms of hobbies, activities, occupations and social life. While all those may be good descent things, they only temporarily appease a man, and actually become his little "idols" to which man devotes lots of time, finances, and efforts. The become a sort of purpose in his life.
This is why Jesus said: "come to me all you, that are weary and heavy burdened." Because only he sets FREE. Where some man says that he's free to practice sexual perversion, or get drunk, or do drugs, or whatever, he actually doesn't know that he's a slave to those things. Even if he goes to counseling, or rehab, or AA, and stops physically committing the acts, deep inside he will still want them, or miss the satisfaction they gave him. This man's life will still be unhappy and unfulfilled.
Hmm, funny. When a godless person hears something against sin, they get this defensive attitude: "If I like it, or I want it, I can do it, and I will do it. And you can't tell me otherwise, it's a free country!" As if they have the "right" to sin. When in reality, they have an OBLIGATION to sin. They can't NOT sin. But they think they are in control. And only when they start to hit rock bottom in their life, they realize that they need to change something, and then they realize that they can't!
galatians 5 speaks about this subject. if one's not led by the Spirit he is still subject to his own sinful nature.. there's no third choice, no gray tones.
but as Christ died and rose to a new life, so we are dead to sin and alive to God.
Or in simpler terms - "change"! It's a change of heart. A spiritual rebirth that makes you free. This is where people misunderstand us alot. It's not some weird trance, or self induced, fake front. It's when you no longer have to try to do it on your own - trying to quit all the bad things in your life, that you know are making you miserable, and yet being hopelessly hooked on them. Sin. Sin makes a person miserable.
After that, it only stands to ask: "Who is this Intelligent Designer?" This is where His Word comes in. Where His creation wasn't intended to be proof, His Word actually is. How? Reading/hearing of His Word creates faith. And it's this faith that is the key instrument in discovering God, as it enables us to acquire "a sixth sense" if you will. No, I don't mean some ethereal, intuitive, mystical, wishy-washy concept. Rather it's a very tangible occurence. We call it being "Born Again".
God never intended for this world and all its studies to be proof of His existence, but rather as a road sign, or a direction "arrow", so to speak, pointing towards Him. Which is exactly what it does. Any honest-to-self, open-minded person studying any part of our uni-verse (i.e. "one spoken sentence") will find so much complexity, integrated systemic structure, symmetry, and life-critical balance and interdependence, that it simply screams in their face "Intelligent Design"!!!
The only One that never had a beginning, because He gave us the very concept of time and space. If He wanted, He could make square things roll, and spheres to lay still downhill as if they were flat, and we would look at it and it would make perfect sense to us, and we wouldn't know the difference. Thankfully, God is a God of order, and didn't do that to us. But do you finally see? Trying to find proof for God by one's mere senses and intellectual reasoning is a fool's business.
If you for a moment assume that God does exist, than how silly it would be to try test for His attributes and abilities with our meager five senses, which only work in a setting of physical and mathematical laws given to us by Him. He is not subject to these laws, although He can deliberately be, should He choose to. (Which we believe He did 2000 years ago). I mean, if it's true that He made us, then how can we expect to fully fathom all His attributes, such as eternity, omnipresence, etc.
The reason I say all this is to show you that no matter how scientific and logical one may be in these debates, they will lead to nothing unless you decide to be completely HONEST with yourself, and simply allow for the possibilty. Unless you do this, you will always view things in support of what you already WANT to be true. And just think, if the Scripture is right, and there IS a God, then, oh how inadequate and primitive our five physical senses of interfacing are, to try discovering Him!!!
The man simply goes there to retreive something that he can EXPLAIN or INTERPRET to others as proof that he is right. The reason I can say all this is because when Judeo/Christian scientists, doctors, philosophers, as well as regular laymen examine and test the very same species, artifacts, phenomena, etc., they draw conclusions that point to intelligent design and affirm alot of what they already knew from Scripture about the origin of the uni-verse, the nature of mankind, and true history.
In other words, an open minded, and truly critically thinking approach is absent. An atheist scientist studies some species, or goes to an excavation site already "knowing" or accepting in his heart that whatever he finds will support his world view and further disprove the existence of God. Everything has to be explained through natural, random, non-created approach to him. Basically, while going to that site, he already BELIEVED things to be this way. So you see, atheism is a form of religion.
Many false conclusions are made out of otherwise excellent observation and testing. In other words, a person approaches the matter already seeking to find one answer. Expecting it. He will use his self-accepted logic and worldview to interpret the evidence (since often, evidence is not yet data) into whatever data that would support his evidence. So it's a closed loop, you see. He looks TO the evidence FOR support of his way of reasoning, while looking AT the evidence BY his way of reasoning.
Yet, people rely on the accolades of men with big names as deposit of good merit. That whatever they assert will be backed by infallible evidence born out of thorough research. However, there is no such thing as absolutely infallible evidence, due to the fact that it requires alot of OBSERVATION to begin with, before CONCLUSIONS can be drawn. Even testing still requires the making of conclusions. And this is where the convoluted thinking plays it's part again.
Allow me to show you why in a bit. No matter how many Ph.D's, evolutionary scientists, atheist or agnostic philosophers you may quote, or how much of ther work/research you may cite, you can count on this for sure: they are still mere humans and they still only have those five senses (at best) to probe, explore, and "study" our universe and life in general. Their abilities, in a general sense, are no greater than mine, yours, or that of anyone else.
Then they go on to earn their Ph.D's or simply take some other place in life. But the point is: they think they know how to think, and that what they hold to be true has been thoroughly thought out, tried and tested, both scientifically and philosophically. And that it is common place knowledge the world over, save for some uncivilized aborigine tribes... oh, and yes, also those "stupid ignorant Christians". Well to burst your bubble, we Judeo/Christian people aren't all that stupid and ignorant
To help root your mind in these delusions is the fact that some of your cothinkers earned various titles of prominence, and then use those titles as backing authority for such thinking. And to help propagate this, they have open before the our heavily biased media and educational fascilities, through which they infect the next generation of young, proud, and arrogant "zeroGodists" who are completely devoid of true critical thought. If a Ph.D. says something, they take that as money in the bank.
Then, out of that info and personal experience, you create FOR YOURSELF a system of reasoning and rationing that YOU hold to be faultless, and perhaps even "scientific". You begin to think that your logic serves as great litmus paper for any matter or topic. You certainly do not accept the possibility that some core principles of your thinking are heavily biased and are rooted in assumptions, notions, and theories largely unfounded and false, albeit commonly accepted by many others.
Ok, zeroGodist. You and the rest of the atheists I run into on a regular basis all share some common symptoms. You want to test everything by what little knowledge you have in that cranium of yours. In other words, things have to conform to your way of rationing, and whatever logic you've developed for yourself, which is usually such a one that permits you to live however you want. You've been given only five senses, through which you've experienced your short life and acquired some information.
What sin did he do?, if somone lived on some remote island all his life, never harmed anyone, never heared about a god, them has he sinned? If someone kills five people and says sorry and prayers for forgivness, then his ok.
The bible says we will be judged accordingly, so if someone lived on a remote island and has never heard the gospel, God will judge them knowing this and knowing their heart. If someone kills five people and is truely repentant and sorry for their sins then yes God will forgive, but only if they repent and change their ways. The only 'logistic' we need to understand is that God can forgibe YOU and ME of our sins, and is willing to do so!
But if found guilty then its "BURN IN HELL", and if forgiven then its "Bored in Heaven", so the judgment is either one or the other isn't it. So if your going to hell for stealing a bar of chocolate (and you don't want forgiveness), then you might as well kill the shop owner.
@Leeca07: But this video says ("there is no other way to heaven but though JC"). you said that there is solely by god-judgement.
I don't understand what your getting at?? If you don't want forgivness for your sins then clearly all you're worried about is this life and not the next, so why would you kill the shop owner and get 50-life for it??
Jesus and God are one and the same, you will be judged by God/Jesus and yes the only way to heaven is by having a relationship with Jesus/God and being forgiven bhy him. these guys go to my church so obviously we stand for the same thing :P
@Leeca07: In simplistic terms. Is there one torture in hell or different levels of torture in hell depending on the crime against your god. ie say I am going to hell for calling your god an idiotic icon, then do I go to hell next to the serial-killer.
2. If the devil is the enemy of god, and I see god as my enemy, then does the devil see me as a friend, thereby rewarding me in hell?
Yes the bible does speak of different levels of hell, but really that's no constalation because the 'least part of hell' would still be horrible beyond our emagination!
NO! that's where the devil totally rips you off! he hates EVERYONE even those people caught up in devil worship, he hates them too and loves to see them suffer!
We could argue theology till the cows come home, all you need to know is that the devil hates you and wants the worst for you, Jesus loves you and wants the best!
@Lee: Very intriguing "different levels of hell" so likewise there would be different levels of heaven ie for Mother Teresa, Leeca07, George Bush etc.?
George Bush bahahaha, umm well yeh there is different rewards depending on how much you did to further the Kingdom of God, dunno where you pulled Bushy from but yeh...
The only thing tht bothers me is the indifferent shrug at the end. He knows his friend has just gone to hell for eternity. I know it had a satirical bent, but it's important to show that peoples' salvation matters to us, because it matters to Him. God bless.
