I completely agree about the inappropriateness of the word 'Hindu.' It does have its usefulness though, for situating people who are unfamiliar with the philosophy. It's easier to use the term, but then address it's shortcomings. What I've found though, is that this is a direct way to clear up misconceptions. Your may have a body which is considered Indian by todays designations but within that Indian body of yours is what actually you are. The soul. People often think that they have a soul and they are the body, but if you think about it, you are the soul but have a temperary material body.

If that is true then what is death? Why does the body Die? Where did we come from? Why does the soul come into being and then just die? What is death? It is a fact that the body changes every 7 years, once you had an infant body, then a youth body, then an adult body but you(the soul) never changes. All these previous bodies have died but you still existed why? The body is dead matter that gets animated because of the soul. Without the soul we are dead bodies. We are the soul.

"We are the soul". Thats what I've been saying. Death is when a soul slips from existence into dust. If something is dead it will not get up and walk away. You can not separate a soul from a person for the simple reason that they are not two different things, they are one.

I think of it this way:

if you burn a book, do you expect the print inside to just get up and move on to a book?

People have one life and then they die and no longer exist in any way, shape, or form.

The soul cannot die. Death is only for the body. If the soul goes from existence into dust then how did it come into existence in the first place? As for the book analogy, that is from your mundane perspective and lack on understanding of the soul. You cannot understand something perfectly spiritual with your imperfect material senses. The soul cannot die, it is only the body that dies. The soul and the body are always different. Just because you drive a car doesnt mean you are the car.

We can speculate all day about what "we" think, but if it is not backed up by reality, it holds no value. Scientific fact; The human body is completely replaced every 7 years.
