  • On July 25, 2011 it was announce The Opera House was to be retired. She had finally broken her maiden (first win) on June 30th in the Video Ezy Maiden Plate, the 4th race at Wyong. It was her first victory in 9 starts, most losses coming in shorter races. The Opera House (Melba to her friends) was found to have suffered a tendon injury and it was decided to retire her. Fortunately she is well and it is to be sent to 2008 Kentucky Derby winner Big Brown.

  • SHE IS DOING WELL ON THE TRACK IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA AND WAS NAMED OPERA HOUSE.

(THE OPERA HOUSE IN SYDNEY IS ALL WHITE)

  • ArchDandy is correct! Only from the same mom are they considered half sibs.

  • Um, no, like any other animal (or person) of whom you know the breeding, sharing a parent makes a half-sibling

  • @sarabz76 not in horses.. siblings are only called so when its the same mare, as studs can sire over 100 foals a year, mares can only have one foal a year

  • Not trying to be rude, but in the horse business a horse is only considered half if it has the same mom, not dad. I think its because if they considered them half by the same dad, there would be hundreds of half brothers running around.

  • Exactly!!! Your right only half related if out of the same mare...

  • woo its my horses half sister!!! SAME SIRE!!!
