I as always sad when the guys sang this in concert because it meant it was the last song (usually the 5th or 6th encore in the early days, when Elliot Cahn (Gino) sang the part Johnny does here). Anyway, such wonderful talent, and we are so lucky to still be able to enjoy these videos. Thank you....Dave
I watched this shosw, & simply was in awe of just how good these guys were. The harmonies are flawless & note perfect, & they always founf the perfect voice for whatever the song was. Truly, an all-time underated group. Thank-you all the guys from Sha nah nah. Thankyou for these memories! Wolfsky9, 64 y/o
These guys are off the charts talented. What voices!!!! I am so glad people posted these clips from Sha na na so we get to enjoy those days all over again.
I am so glad I got to meet them and keep intouch as they are all so amazingly talented and smart but no egos here!!!!! They areso down to earth and I am so happy I got to see Johnny and Bowzer at Bowzer's rock and roll show recently! They still sound as good as ever and lookk fabulous too!!! It's nice to know they are so easy to be around and always do unto others-BIG HEARTS!!!!!!!
I wish they'd bring the Shanana show on DVD. When I see Johnny on these videos my heart still goes pitter patter. LOL He was, an still in gorgeous in my eyes. I'm glad I got to see them in concert a couple of times, and have 2nd row seats. I was about 14 or so, and he was one of my biggest teenage crushes. this brings back such good mermories
IF you love SNN as I do you can go to their official website and under LINKS at the bottom is a link to Sha Na Na Fan Pages by Cheryl and then on her site there is a link saying "HELP GET THE SHA NA NA VARIETY SHOW ON DVD!"
Yeah...who'd have thought it right?Dressed up in the muscle shirt, with the normally tough guy act .And out of his mouth comes this BEAUTIFUL bass voice!
@gopherscout Gotta say I really prefer Johnny's performance on this song, although Elliot really got into it. There just aren't many singers I can think of that can hang with Johnny Contardo.
Johnny & I agree that Sam Harris is also great! I think he is on Broadway a good bit. Check him out. He's fantastic. He won on one of the first shows to be picked & get a recording contract. In the 80's. cajanwitch60
@cajanwitch60 Sam Harris won the first season of Star Search. He has been on Broadway a lot, including a revival of "Grease." If you want a good comparison of Johnny Contardo and Sam Harris, they both have performances of "Those Magic Changes" here on the 'tube.
Johnny's falsetto is among the best. Harris has a tremendous range, allowing him to climb way up the scale without a falsetto.
@steelblue58 Yes when I wasn't on night shift I enjoyed watching him. But whenever Johnny was on I was there. I've been a fan of J. C. every since I first saw him on the TV. And I listen to him on Utube everyday. And just before I go to bed. Mellows me out. And I wish he would come here to the coast of Ms. I would brave the crowd to see him live. A die hard fan always. Everyone seems to think it's easy work. He trained young & still to keep in singing voice. I just love watching him.
I used to watch there show when i was younger and i still get warm inside when i watch Johnny, but i've never heard Bowser sing like this. Thanks. Johnny, i still want to touch your face. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Wow - this was always my favorite SNN slow song because my 2 favorite guys were on lead and they sound amazing. Great to be able to see it again. Thanks for posting.
This brings back very good memories when I visited my friend Bosco. Nice songs by guys who never got enough credit. Very Nice Harmony on many songs. Keep them posted on youtube.
Absolutely. That was one of the reasons I was so surprised to see them doing a Flamingos song.. That's one group you shouldn't attempt to cover. I think Sha Na Na did a terrific job though
Gawd, this is absolutely exquisite! These guys liked to pretend to be goofy, but sheesh, they're really talented and well trained! I remember this performance from this show's syndication days! Thanks Sha Na Na! Doo Wop, 'til ya drop, brothers! Thanks for keepin' the faith of this wonderful music!
Conflicting reports. A couple of people say that he choked to death at a restaurant. But no one really knows.I think his relatives want to keep it private how he died.:-(
I loved this group and saw them in concert 4 times during the late seventies. I never missed a show & had all the tv shows taped on audio cassettes. I'd love a reunion.
@kyldy Amen and Amen. I would absolutely love to see the 8 guys back on the stage and would pay to see it more than once.
I wish that the show was on DVD. Trust me I would be the first to buy it. I really enjoyed their show. I have enjoyed watching the clips. Sooooo many memories!
OMG!!! I loved this show so much that my sister recorded an episode I missed on an audio tape recorder for me! Of course we played it a million times and had it memorized LOL I was totally in love with Donny and wrote him several times, I told him I was 14 (I was actually 12 1/2) like it would make a difference or something. He always wrote me back and it was the thrill of my LIFE! :-) This song has always been my favorite because of Donny's pretty voice doing back-ups.
I had the priviledge of seeing Sha Na Na,twice. I enjoyed the concert both times, and absolutely loved the tv show

This is my absolute favorite duet with the two best vocalists in the band. I was fortunate to see this song performed live in Westbury, NY.
Is anyone else longing for a reunion, or at least for the seasons to be released on dvd?
Long live Sha Na Na!
