gone are the days of 911 actually staying on the phone with you. I know where I live when my husband had a seizure she's like..is he breathing..i said yes she said ok i'll dispatch the ambulance and hung up. Both times he had seizures they just hung right up. so there i am scared u-know-whatless and she's like ok bye. same as when my daughter got stuck in the kitty-condo. she said i'll send someone out and hung up without a word.
I have called 911 for my severely disabled daughter about 20 times. Most times she wasn't breathing good, despite being on a ventilator at home. They always stayed on the phone with me. Until last time I called, during a seizure and they said help is on the way and hung up. I wonder if it has something to do with seizures, them not staying on the phone? Weird
They probably don't stay on the phone if it's not necessary. If a patient's life is in immediate danger, they'll need to keep you on the phone so they can give you first-aid instructions. If you'll notice from watching these Rescue 911 segments, they usually don't keep people on the phone in non-life-threatening emergencies, except when the caller is a child, or the caller doesn't know exactly where they are.
Maybe? I don't know they have never given me advice when she wasn't breathing either, just gave me info on where the ambulance was. They asked if I knew CPR, I told them I was already doing it, and it was "good keep doing that" and they were always at a loss on an advice or help after that.
our pool always had a fence around it; even though we were older we had young kids that lived in the neighborhood and everyone kept not only a fence around their pool but the door locked when they were not around...because all our neighbors were close you never knew if a little kid would just wander in your backyard
Doing any form of CPR is better than doing nothing at all. I had to do CPR on my dad when he had a heart attack and it sucked because I was scheduled to do my cpr class the next day! But everyone kept telling me that what I did probably saved him even if I didnt do by the book
The problem was that it was a high stress situation. She was taught how but when your in a calm environment it's much easier to perform CPR. Your testers staring at you while you do it doesn't make it high stress. People do not think clearly in high stress situations unless they have had experience/training in high stress scenarios.
I'm trained in First-Aid and CPR, it's easier to do it on a complete stranger than someone whose an immediate relative. An immediate relative causes a higher degree of stress, because you're standing/sitting there thinking "omg I gave birth to this person" or "this person raised me, what if I mess up and actually do more harm?" Where as with a stranger, it's easier to dissociate from the situation.
I think the title name of this segment should've be called "Moving Day Pool Save" because the family just moved into the home. The title name they have is true to cretain extent, but I think it should've be called the one I just said.
Okay, where did the grandmother get her information from? Either that, or what was she seeing when she made that call? If you listen, when she calls 911, the first thing she says is, "Hello. We have a child that's 2½, and he's...split his head open".
Okay, last I saw, Steven had drowned, and there was no blood in the pool. Since when does 'drown' and 'split his/her head open' mean the same thing?
Kristen seems like someone that would be fun to sit next to on a plane. I don't know why you didn't break into Hollywood after this; there's no justice in this world.

Again, this could have been prevented if their were locks on the doors and safety devices on the doors. I have these everywhere on my house.

There's a more recent show called "Call 911", and they still give CPR instructions on there.

It used to come on CBS, but it got cancelled in 1996. This particular clip was taped off the Family Channel, but they don't show it anymore either.
