My cats do that whenever they see flies or birds. I have read that it's called "hunting-clicks". Some people say that this is similar to what bats do, to measure the distance between them and their prey. But I'm not sure, there are so many different opinions about this. But it's really funny to watch!!!^^
Ha ha, my cats do that too whenever they see birds or flies. The cat is trying to imitate the sounds of its prey to draw it closer. So your cat is probably trying to buzz like a fly.

My cat does it when we put the laser point out of her reach (like on the ceiling) we call it the death chirp. It sounds really scary sometimes

A quiet clicking noise may mean that your cat has spotted an unsuspecting bird and is planning lunch!
