This movie is very weak compared to Exorcist films of the 70's plus they stole many ideas from Lord of Illusions (1995) with Famke Janssen. It wasn't bad film but just very disappointing. The Exorcism of Emily Rose was more impressive too

It's gonna air on TV today (Brazil), and I'm gonna watch it.. Looks pretty scary, but everybody says it's crap.. after seeing the trailer, I'm beginning to change my mind. But I still gotta watch the original Exorcist.

From what I saw of the movie this was interesting enough for me to buy the DVD to watch on a very stormy night on a camping trip in the middle of the woods....especially if I'm on an archaeoloigical dig..boooooooooo!!!!!.

yeah, contrary to critics, this movie was really good, a great back-story to father merrin, better than the one depicted in Exorcist 2 the heretic.

MUCH sacrier and cbetter than Dominion. It was way to light in the temple in that, the Nazi scene was more sad and dramatic, the battle scene fit the horrors of war like the director wanted, and the demon looks like the original in this. Plus the end actually made more sense in comparison to the other one. Still I know The Heretic kinda sucked, but why was it neither director made it like the other one (without the sequels stupid and annoying new voice for the demon)?

Agreed. When I wrote that comment 8 months ago I was just getting aquainted with all the films. After watching them all again and reading the novel I could talk all day about what a trainwreck The Heretic was. And also I got to look at Dominion from a different perspective. I'd say that is better as a whole, but this is better when it comes to the effects and horror. No matter what though they are The Godfather compared t The Heretic. Even Blatty, Blair, and Friedkin hated it.
