This was quite a storm,I remember going to bed that night and thunderstorms exploding.I was lying in bed and thought a puppy was licking my foot. When I came to I realize that I did'nt have a puppy; my entire apartment had 4 feet of water in it from Buffalo Bayou. The storm was and rain was so strong it took a 40ft roll off and pushed it to the middle of the complex where I lived from the back of
I vividly remember Allison hitting Houston. My neighborhood kind of sits on a hill, and never had a problem with flooding. This was also before they screwed up the storm drains around here. Even the worst storms would maybe put four or five inches in the road. With Allison, we had water up the foundation, about an inch below the door. If it had rained just another hour, a lot of valuables would have been lost. I still feel bad for those less fortunate.
I live in Maryland and we got the remnants of Allison. I remember it rained hard all day around June 17. I was only 6 years old and I had just finished kindergarten, but I remember some things that happened during TS Allison. I remember when they retired Allsion as a hurricane name and how it was very rare for a name to be retired after a storm that was given that name never became a hurricane.
I lived in Greenspoint..My apt was on the first floor..The water was maybe about 4 feet inside of my place..I was devistated, scared and just felt so helpless..I had to get out of my apt and go up to the second floor just to get out of all the water..When I opened the door more water came surging in..I cried..I prayed..I finally made it to the 2nd floor to safety..and had to stay outside all night until some of the water recieded..I lost EVERYTHING..I will never live on the 1st floor again..EVER!
I was stuck at work all night with nothing to eat but vending machine food. The satellite dish didn't work so we couldn't watch TV. My friend came in his jeep and rescued me the next afternoon. Several others were stuck there another 12 hours. It took us in the Jeep 2 hours to get what would normally take 5 minutes to get home. Along the way we got to see first hand how bad it was. When we crossed halls bayou and airline we almost didnt make it despite how high we were off the ground.
i was 12 and still living in louisiana and it was nasty w/the flooding i spent quite a few days where i spent all my time filling sandbags to go on the leves at alagator bayou
that freeway was flooded out and he had no choice but to go back to his apartment and he had to call his job and told them that he couldn't make it. It scared me cuz he was out on the road during Allison and that night. . .I couldn't sleep. It was too scary for me!
I remember that I just got out of high school for the summer right before I got into the 10th grade and it was scary, I was at my house when Allison came through I heard that she caused major flooding around the major freeways and the texas medical center. and at the time my dad was living in Houston before he moved to Colorado in 2005. My dad was on his way to work and at the time he resided on Beechnut St. @ Fondren Rd., he was on his way to work on 59 via 610 by Reliant Stadium. . .
Alicia and Allison still to this day conjure horrible memories for me. Anyone who has lived through a hurricane knows what I am talking about. Glad I moved from Houston last year :(
Iwhen you are warned there will be a flood you dont run in your attic .. you leave the area .. the body is quite boyant..and also Houston had one of the fattest people in the country..so you guys float.
HAHA! Speaking of fat people. Lol Nice generalization, scrub. I'm far from fat, so that doesn't hurt me :D nor does anything else that comes from your wack ass ignorance. So you are saying that in water that is flooding over your house or even more -that your body, without any help, would just float. Nice. Funny thing is that there are lots of deaths caused by drowning and such. So much for being floating huh? And what if you can't leave? What then? Just gtfo hater :]
na i knew that for a long time in 2001 because i live in houston and i was looking at allison on the weather channel lol i wonder what happened to her
This looks like around the time the studio was being renovated. Notice the side backdrop area is complete, but there's no logo or global forecast center sign.

Ummm, sure, but do you think
people that were related to ones
that lost their lives see it that way?
Let's see how well you take things
when you lose your house and/or
the people you love/care about. Then
let's see who the "big baby" is, then let's
see who the "nubcake" is, you sad piece
