@brzklt Cal. That's a public school, right? Anyone can go there and it's free! Get it?
FREE!!! FREE!!! FREE!!!
The UC system is broke. They will never recover from the California financial crisis. Cal, UCLA, etc. are no longer competition, academically or athletically. California is ruled by STANFORD and USC!
@ndlostagain eww gross thats no fun. well at least all the UC campuses are in pretty places and they teach such a high standard that they're seen throughout the world as some of the best public schools in the world. =)
@alley595 I don't know where Stanford gets "it owns All Right Now" because its atrocious, embarrassment of a "band" (looks more like a crap-stained, lice-ridden mob of degenerates called Occupy Oakland) plays (if you call it "playing") the song. I bet Free is humiliated to have that humiliating pack of vermin ruining their song. USC can't steal something Stanford never owned. UCLA did steal Cal's wretched fight song (neither version is played much as neither scores much in football games!)
i live in so cal. my friends are so gay they keep on getting mad at me for telling them that ucla stole big c. Ive always liked cal but now i like it more because my sister goes there.
@Menger1231 Idiot, you can't steal something from another campus of the SAME UNIVERSITY! UC Davis also has a version of "Big C," and the UCLA version, "Sons of Westwood" is the best arrangement of the three anyway.
@pqnguyen ya but even if they're in the same system they're still very different schools so therefore the claim that Big C was stolen is plausable. It makes it even more undeniable when "Sons of Westwood" came out between the 40s and 60s and Big C was written in 1913.
@uscbeatnd Cal is one of the best schools in the country. USC is just some crappy private school that just wants all your money. Plus are players don't get paid to play like Reggie Bush did cause their not stupid.
@556sportsfan1 I Believe that you meant to say “our players” and not “are players (“plus” also needs a comma after it).” Also, it is “they are not stupid”, or “there’re not stupid,” rather than “their not stupid.” Does the term “pot, kettle, black” mean anything to either your irony-lacking institution, or to you?
@uscbeatnd i was at that game hahah in the USC season pass section also right at the 50 yard line. Wearing cal colors amongst crazy USC fans, not a place you want to be when the score is that bad :O
University of California at Berkeley was founded in 1868, UCLA was the Southern Branch from 1919 to 1930. GO BEARS !!!!! BA '74 MA'78 UCLA is really the University of California for the LOWER ACHIEVERS
our top recruit MLB will help lead the golden bear to the rose bowl! not USC they are banned from the postseason for two years not oregan they lost Masoli not stanford they lost Toby Gerhart Go Bears! not bruins
That's pretty optimistic. Yes, Oregon lost Masoli, but they still have LaMichael James and an excellent running game (along with pretty good special teams). Oregon State and Washington are also looking pretty good for next year. Is Cal going have a walk in the park next year? If the team functions as it did last year, no.
If Cal makes it to the Rose Bowl, how will it do against Ohio State, Iowa, or Wisconsin?
Why even put this on here does this make you feel good or something? And I know what you are going to say you should hate Cal. Well my father and mother went there and I am only going to Stanford for medical school. I originally went to Dartmouth. Oh and by the way Mark Ingram should have never won the Heisman that was the most SEC bias Heisman in college football history.
@STANFORDMAN11 > > Yes' ... I don't think you know to much about college football and traditions. Their was nothing to prove by my post. It is what it is. I really don't care who, in your family went where. I am not impressed, what so ever. Mark Ingram is the Heisman winner and history has been made. Your mind needs to be on medical school, so that you want make any mistakes, when you go out into the field. Have a Nice Day ... Study ... :)
It's one of the greatest traditions in college football. After January, fans from the national championship team gloat over fans from other teams, even ones in distantly related conferences. This continues until they lose and all of their accumulated bad karma comes back at them in a single week.
This song is Fight for California. UCLA stole Big C, a different song. USC stole All Right Now from Stanford. So, there is a tradition in So Cal of stealing songs from the North.
I'm so sick of the USC band playing "All Right Now" everytime the team scores a touch down. And their crowd making the V sign for "Vavoom" while shouting "All Right Now!"
WHOA... I don't know what USC you're talking about...
But we play "Fight On" and "Conquest!" after every touchdown, both fight songs that WE composed... and our V isn'r for Vavoom. WTF is Vavoom anyways? The V is for Victory and we do that at all our functions... and... we don't shout All Right Now... we barely play that song...
Me too. I'm also sick of that annoying "Tribute to Troy" crap they play after just about every damn play. It's really repetitive and it drives me nuts.
SoCal always steals our shit because they want to make themselves feel superior, when in fact they're hella inferior. I'd rather be dead than live in SoCal. No wonder so many of those SoCal people who go to Cal never return south, but when we go to school down there, we rarely stay. Going to Cal was an amazing experience, but dealing with all those SoCal douchebags was not fun. I got a weird culture shock just coming from the other side of the Bay. I felt like an outsider in my own territory.
@airforbes1 UCB should use this as your one and only fight song. UCLA's arrangement in "Sons of Westwood" is far superior to Berkeley's "Big C." Plus, our version is better known since it's been played during far more championship games!
I like "Sons of California" best among Cal's fight songs. This one, "Fight for California," always seemed draggy to me. And I prefer "Sons of Westwood" to "Big C".

Unless the composer of All Right Now gave this song to Stanford, how can it be stolen. It was a pop hit by Free.
Unless thet have formally abandoned it, Stanford already had a fight song and it wasn't All Right Now.
The Stanford band may have started playing it before SC but they didn't own it.
As for UCLA the song the Big C was written expressly for the Berkeley campus in 1913. UCLA did not even exist then.
