  • i don't think a light truck like ford ranger could fit into this parking building.

  • I saw this kind of parking service in Tokyo, somewhere close to Ikebukoro. Just wonder about two things here:

How much does it cost to park like this? (rates/hours and such)

Is this also the place where you fill up your gas? ... was on the look out for gas station in Tokyo but never manged to see a single one of them while I was there last year during11 days. And I found that odd, because there is a lot of traffic and the cars need to replenish now and then! :)

    Anything on that?

    Cheers!

    /mtm

  • Oh gosh I wouldn't trust parking my car here!

  • would a nissan cube fit in one of these>

  • Nice car its the new 2012 Nissan March right? How much did that cost you?

  • So you bought the Nissan Micra? :o Wich year? And may I know how much you paid it? :D!

  • wow awesome car man, great color taste too, good looks!

  • Furious* xD

  • Did anyone else see this in Fast and Furios: Tokyo Drift? XD

  • Woooo i love your car. thanks for sharing.

  • lol my car would be way too big for that! (american hulk) pretty cool though

  • I thought the actual car was a vending machine... im retarded >__<

  • it is a well knows parking system

you might want to look up volkswagen

they have towers that work sort of the same way

  • Because land prices is very high in Japan.

  • I've always wondered how these worked after seeing them in Japan XD

  • when you gonna talk about drifting in japan?

  • What happens in a power outage and the people can't get their cars back? You don't have to worry about that in a normal parking garage.

  • I wonder if I can get a Lamborghini out of one of these things...

  • I remember that from the "fast and the furious Tokyo drift" movie i dont really know what i thought back then but when i see it now it raises some questions like:

how many cars can it actually take? I mean is it efficient enough? and WHERE do those cars go?

cool concept tough and i can really understand why they use that, with the limited space and all

  • this is so weird...

  • Japan is soo amazing! <3

  • Omg I remember seeing this thing in the Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift <3!

  • it woulda been better if like all the japanese imports done up were shown going in and out of the parking place

  • my favorite car in japan was the nissan vicious lsd

    only in japan

  • I get my driving lessons in one of those!

  • humanity is so fucking retarded

  • Thats a super cute car, what kind is it?

  • @emeraldsunsets it is a Nissan Micra

  • @Friendly0Dan its a nissan march

  • @ARR016a

It's called the Micra in some markets outside of Japan.

  • why do you drive an orange March??

  • I don't see my hummer fitting in there. LOL XD

  • fast and furious =D

  • This is cool and yet another thing in Japan that is way way ahead of anything here in the good ol usa. We need some of these where i live. Your lucky to get a spot and when you do it is about 6 to 7 bucks a day.

  • I'd be afraid of putting my car in something like that... what if it malfunctioned or something?

  • @angelwings1086 What if you put your car in a parking lot and someone else scrapes the side while they try to park or leave? I'd rather have this system 'malfunction' or whatever and know who to send the repair bill than come back to my car in a random lot to find it damaged without a note under the wipers. Although I highly suspect that in Japan you would ALWAYS find a note under your wiper if someone accidentally damaged your car :)

  • @MicraHakkinen That's true! ^_^ My thought was the whole car being dropped and completely ruined rather than a scratch. Lol. But I suppose, like you said, at least I'd know who to send the bill for my new car to.

  • @MicraHakkinen

So what happens when you get an emergency phone call, like maybe your wife is giving birth or a close relative is on the virge of death, and you have to get your car in a hurry but when you get to the car park it is either malfunctioning or the power is down and you can't get your car back? What about just normal circumstances where you are running errands and can't get your car back or if you are using a company car that your employer relies on for business and it gets stuck?

  • @gamewizard I suppose you shouldn't park here if you know you might have to leave in a hurry. As for unforeseen emergencies, yes, the car park could malfunction, just as your car could break down or you could get stuck in a traffic jam. Besides, the alternative to a car park like this would be either no parking space at all or extremely high-priced parking space.

  • @gamewizard Use a condom? LMAO

  • im here i japan for a few more weeks im going to miss this place-_-

  • This is funny! Does remind me of a vending machine but it's not.

  • thats a parkin garage theres little space in Japanese cities so they pack the cars real tight together

  • Have you bought a new car? I thought you were driving a Suzuki

  • i saw this on tokyo drift!

  • how does it move the car?

  • nice car! :D

  • is it osu?

  • what's with the license plates in japan they are a lot different than they are over here

  • @SuperMarioBrothers09 This is a crazy thought.... maybe because it's a different country? Why do Americans assume that every country is like theirs?

  • @04smallmj Americans don't, SuperMarioBrothers09 does. Dont make such broad, sweeping statements, thats aren't true, based off of one, or a few ppl.

  • @SHIFT2WIN1 Actually not even SMB09 does. He just asked a question(granted a fairly loaded one), didn't even say what country he is living in techincally. 04smallmj was the bigoted douche that immediatly thought it meant SMB09 thinks every country is like America, as well as Americans in general.

  • @SuperMarioBrothers09 They're different in almost every country, derp

  • The clearance between the car going up and the one coming down was only like 6 cm or so, but i figure there's a sign that says what your maximum weight and height can be.

Still though, these things looks really fragile, any of these drop a car after a few years of use and stress?

Still though, smart contraption, cover the building in solar panels and it won't cost that much to run either.

  • i used to think something like this was really futuristic, but its real!!!!!! so cool and smart

  • i think this is much safer than the open parking lots in America. If i had a nice fancy car i would much prefer parking in one of these than have just anybody able to come up and touch my car. This ensures me no shopping cart scratches or anyone bumping my car and drive away.

  • It's like the parking structure in the movie I, Robot, except the stuff you left under the seat doesn't end up on the dashboard.

I'll bet it's so expensive to park this way, that it would be cheaper to hire a guy to keep driving your car around the block burning gas the whole time you're shopping.

  • REMINDS ME OF TOKYO DRIFT AND TWINKIE'S CAR :D ya know, when they were in that garage? ^^ lol i love that movie

  • i think i seen one of these in new orleans somewhere!

  • that's brilliant! thanks..

  • 2fast2furious"tokyo drift"

  • @NvidiATI yeah that's where i saw it for the first time

  • When I saw the Blue Nissan I said "oh wow, they painted it too!"

  • i love your videos their awesome

  • Reminds me of the Jetsons.

  • We have a lot of them in bigger cities, too. But there are no people at all. Yut just drive into a closed room, get out of the car, take your ticket, the door closes behind you and the car diasppears through the ground. If you come back, you put the tiket in, pay your bill, the person's door poens, you enter, get in the car and the big door opens. Then you can drive out of the room again.

  • Interesting. Much respect for Japan.

  • lol i saw this n fast and furious tokyo drift lol

  • @superfuckayou i know! and twinky's green car ^^

  • can you make your videos 1-3mb smaller?

    my internet sucks.

  • a car vending machine eh?-puts in 100 yen and gets a ferrari- woot! xD

  • VERY NICE ~ VERY CUTE ~ VERY COOL

  • *blinks* i seen this in the movie Tokyo drift O_O

  • thats cool

  • im a little confused. does the lift take the cars to a garage or is it just the five or so stored in there?

  • Hi, are you able to make a How to on owning a car in Japan? Like purchasing methods, costs (ownership, insurance, road fees, parking costs, etc), average cost to own a car per year and any other useful information about having a car in Japan. Thanks!

  • That is a really cool way to park your car!!

  • Wow, nice car!

    5 stars for that color!

  • Comment removed

  • @mike123asd i mean america

  • do they have no steering wheel in japan?

  • its a garage.

  • Crazy! Wanted to go to Japan purely to see this, and now I don't have to LOL

My car wouldn't even fit on this thing anyway...

  • O . O .......wow

  • The Japanese can do all that but can't stop a Toyota? whaaat?

  • that's a good one lol!!!

  • @mrrobjc123

It's the retards driving that can't stop the Toyota. It's really not that hard to throw the car into neutral and just shut it off ;)

  • @VelocityX7

Maybe so, but its a little harder to do at 100 mph

  • tokyo drift shows in the movie

  • now pull i 4 door truck on that.

  • I love my car way to much than to put it in this thing lol.

  • i love japan:)

  • lol its a prototype parking lot .. i remember when they were trying to press for these then they found out how much it would cost to run one lol

  • @SanSuMartialArts

more than a prototype.. they are everywhere..

there are two on this play list as examples.

  • ITs not a prototype dumbass

  • The frames of the lift look very flimsy.

  • I wonder how this thing pays back. I mean, sure, land is very expensive in Japan, especially in cities, but this whole machine(engineering it, have the parts made, installing it...) must have costed a fortune.

  • hahahha yea this was in tokyo drift

  • Interesting video! This might be a bit of an odd question, but how does car registration and inspections work in Japan? Based on the limited amount I've heard it sounds a bit different than here in the States.

  • what camera you use?

  • @mieio

    Sony Cybercam

  • I wonder too!

  • Love the colour of your car!

  • that is pretty sweet. wish us americans had something like that.

  • i still think this is too much, i mean instead of buying a bulding full of costly machinery and lots of maintenence cant they just build parking lot building like here in america, like the ones in airports? they can just build them higher with more floors so they would take up less ground space

  • @shadowace421

    Not enough space.

Think about all the space in your big American car parks that is just for driving in and out.

  • yea i gess your right, i was thinking that there can be parkin lots near the outskirts of cities were thers space but the crowded cities do go on for miles so anyone living inside a citie would have to walk real far to find one.

  • @shadowace421 The japanese have to think vertical a lot more than horizontal. There are 3 or 4 story mcdonalds here for that reason. hahah

  • 저거 한국 에도 있어

    근데 좀 불안해 ~,,~;

  • No way your car is gunna get broken into atleast :D

  • @Enigura

Watch our video called "stealing stuff"

  • haha...how great is that!! Very ecenomic place saving!! :D

  • Get a new car? Love the colour.. One question though. How big or how many spaces would these car parks have? I mean wouldn't a multi story car park have more spaces and be less time consuming if there are a few people wanting to leave at the same time? Or is this just more of a novelty?

  • @EvtheNev

No, they can put more cars in a smaller space this way.

  • well it does save space and is proberly a lot more secure then a normal car park but does this sort of thing cost a lot more?

  • @hellohal3

Costs the customers about the same.

  • hmmmm

  • I really wonder how hard it would be for me to switch to left side driving... I'll probably stick to the trains/subways when in Japan. Could you maybe give me a little advice on that? Since I'm going to be making some longer distance trips as well there. Nevertheless cool video, creative way to manage the limited space available. 5/5 stars!

  • Top tip is look far ahead, then you're in the middle of the lane if the top sterring wheel is inline with the middle of the lane. If not, look at the edge of the sidewalk. when you're at the side. Mark where the edge meet at your windscreen wipers and use it as a reference point. It's seriously not that hard. I'd suggest you find some car club that has RHD cars like Skyline and old British cars and just drive it on a track, then you'll get the idea. takes less than 30 mins to get used to

  • @xentron

    Thanks for the 5.

If you are living in a big city car will be way expensive and more difficult anyway.

  • Yet another, somewhat small yet, effective, reason to visit japan

    5 stars as always :]

  • @poopdood321JP

    Thanks.

  • Those Marches are nice looking cars. They are smaller than my Tiida though right? Actually in the US it's a Versa both the hatch and sedan but I know over there the hatch is called a Tiida. So I call mine a Tiida too.

  • cool. can you do it again, but this time keep the camera on and in the car, set on nightvision or something. i wanna see the inside ^^

  • That is seriously cool. Whoa!

  • I was wondering how the hell the car was driving itself, till I recalled that Japanese style cars have the wheel opposite western design XD ANyways this is super cool

  • @GlompoFie

Actually, many western countries have the same.

UK countries, Australia, New Zealand and others..

  • just america and canada then? cool

  • Why do I think I can put three quarters into a slot, and one of those cars can be mine? lol.

Btw Japanchannel, I have heard about this car from Nisasn, called the Pino. Is this supposed to be a car marketed towards young women in Japan? (They have commercials here on Youtube)

  • SO saw this in Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift!

Lol, sometimes movies get it right.

  • indeed they do. but only sometimes ^.^

  • Jay Leno needs one of these.

  • RAD!

  • Oh man! That's the sweetest thing. That is so very cool.

  • I saw one of those in Tokyo...Epic!!!

  • I posted this video on my facebook newsfeed for everyone to see.

  • That is so awesome!! No more parking garages 8 stories high!! (And with my luck...only able to find parking on the 7th or 8th floor lol)

  • jajaj nice! hey but did u changed your little van?

  • can't exactly use car alarms can you... the rocking would trigger it... interesting space saving concept

  • what...

  • An elevator to a higher parking level or just a car storage thing? I noticed the driver was in it when it went was pulled out, unless they hopped in and out when the car was on ground level. Either way, it has it's up and downs =P pun intended

  • @Riyuzakisan

    Like a big ferris wheel

  • wow impressive..how much do they charge?

  • 5 stars for japanese putting everything in a "Vending Machine ' LOL

  • Thats Just Soooo Epic!!!! XD

  • I notice they don't chock the wheels, so one parking brake gives and everyones car is stuck for a long, long time

  • Nissan's are the best. I've had 3 so far. A Sentra, A Stanza (it was renamed the Altima), and now a pickup. I'm horrible at maintaining cars so these bullet proof cars are just right for me. My pickup is a 97 with 240K miles on it, it gets 25mpg and runs great. Now for the shocker, I've changed the oil twice. I do however have to add a quart every month or two, I think that might clean it up just enough. I've had to replace, a starter, 2 alternators, and a battery since buying it new.

  • Have had my Kia 6 years, change the oil once a year even though it is always still clean, never add a drop

  • ah man they're sold out of blue car again .... looks like a gotta get orange.

  • See, this is a great idea! There are only 2 things I can think of that would be a potential problem. The first is, if its a big parking garage, you might have to wait a while to get your car. And the second is, what if the power goes out? Is there like a back up generator or a manual override or what? These are things I'm wondering about. Anyone else? lol.

  • The color of your car is very... Japanese. Nice and cheery, ha ha. :)

  • When I was in Japan I saw that like 95% of the vehicles were white.

  • Funny, in America they did a study of drivers and their choices in color, the worst drivers chose white because they felt it stood out more and everyone would see them.

  • thats beast

  • what happens when the power goes out?

  • Hahah!

    That's crazy.

  • 5* for orange car

  • woah

  • will my '59 Caddy fit in there? *raises an eyebrow slightly*

    Great v-v-v-vid, as usual ^_^

  • In New York there is a few places that have this.

  • How many cars is this building able to hold?

  • that car is your's too? or it a new one???!!! nice...

  • Wow, it's always amazing how the Japanese manage to make the most out of any little space available. It reminds me of a vending machine/ski lift, lol.

    Keep it up! =D

  • too cool

  • 5 starts for cool! :)

  • とてもすごいですね!

    Five stars!

  • *raise eyebrow slightly* What The Bean?

  • So what kind of new car did you get?

  • I Love Japanese Parking So Awesome

  • Good vid and nice car ^^ 5/5

  • Woooow, so cool!!

  • this is not a car vending machine but a parking ...

  • umm.. coool but.. don't think my crew cab one ton duel wheel chev will fit in there

  • hey, where is the usual comment? well 5 stars anyway! :)
