@CoffeeCupNews Unfortunately no. I think the nearest local roaster is over an hour away in another city. I live in a small, semi-rural area, where we're lucky to even have a Starbucks. The only other coffee joint we have is called the Italian Coffee Company...and they're even worse...
As a Starbucks barista, I definately feel the downward slope. Each day it feels like we're inching closer to a McDonald's and farther from a coffee shop. The lack of stickers though is most likely due to a change in packaging though. Even at my store we can't order them. I can't say I agree with the change though. The new design looks far to similar to Seattles Best. But, what can we do?
@wassermancoral if you feel like you don't like the vision anymore you could seek out places that are dedicated to the bean. Are there any small shops in your area that fit the bill?
As far as dedication to the bean goes- I was a fan of the Colombia starbucks had to offer. They completely discontinued it to source VIA. Starbucks has also gone from an entire wall of different coffees to maybe 10. It makes me sad that their Kenya is their only African coffee. (Though they do have others for their Starbucks Reserves)
I have a major issue with where Starbucks is heading. When reading the book "Pour You Heart Into It" Starbucks goal was to make high quality dark roasted coffee & now they have Blonde which is an appeal to the masses blend.
They also said they'd never make flavored or instant coffee but that is again no longer the case. The commitment to excellence is on a downward slope in an attempt to reach more people but theyre losing the true coffee lovers like you & I who love the little intricacies.
You can buy different amount of coffee beans in the US? Cool! But they really should at least make a complete presentation in term of the menu or the stickers. Its easier for the customers to choose from and not to enjoy the wrong blend later on. But to me a 1/2 lb bag will be just fine.. =)
Starbucks from 20 years ago was a pace where you could get coffee drinks, but they really pushed taking home and brewing yourself. They had everything from grinders to home espresso machines available and a wide selection of cups. travel mugs, etc. The closest one to me know is much smaller than the old stores used to be and the few shelves they have are dedicated to travel mugs. I have yet to see anyone ask for, or leave with a bag of coffee.
@MrAlligam My humble opinion is that once Starbucks coffee was available on your local grocery store shelf, there was no need or desire to keep the level of expertise where it once was. More often than not, if I'm getting coffee from Starbucks, it's from the counter at my local grocery store before I make a grocery run. If I feel like going out for coffee, I go to the more knowledgeable locally owned coffee (and they use better coffee in their espresso drinks!!)
cool video ! it makes me to envy to drink a coffee ; but I cannot drink it as i want ; please send it to me by youtube , thank you . thank you for sharing ;
My theory, is that they won't have stickers anymore... because we got new passports with stickers already in them.. and the stickers were usually used for the boxes in our passports.

It could be a cost cutting measure. I've noticed they don't
automatically put the protective sleeves on the hot coffee
anymore.
