  • i justgot my mash fermented and tring out the eight gallon milk can and my mash is the fourtyeight hr turboyeast it really works i cant belivr it im stoked moonshine for the new year thanks mile high im in love

  • How much final product in average can I get out of a 5 gallong batch?

  • @gpadilla81 almost a gallon i got a gallon and a half out of seven galons

  • The 2.8 gal looks beautiful. I imagine setting up parabolic mirrors to solar heat that baby. Devise a convenient refill and washing system. Get a self generating water distiller to places that have shortages with drinking water. That can looks sweet alongside your wind turbine or your backyard solar panel too.

  • Are the copper and rasching rings a one time purchase? Or is it necessary to have new ones each time you distill?

  • The copper works better when put at the top of the reflex tube....

  • so with the cost of energy to heat it, water, supplies to make the alcohol, etc, total costs to make 1 gallon of alcohol?

  • I just moved up to the 13gal milk can with the 40in torpedo. Wow...this is my second still and all I can say is FANTASTIC. I have a bunch of welder/plumber friends who were all excited to make copies when mine arrived.....the quality is so high they have decided to order one. You cant build one for the price....Great job guys...really nice stuff...

  • Does anyone own one of these stills? Can someone who owns one post a video of them using it? I would really like DETAILS! Step by step details. Thanks!

  • @Heathpotter1 I Have one and it works just like he says .> But there are steps not shown here , and be ready . It is time consuming .

  • im a bit confused with the water cooling ? on the mile high distilling website, the distiller assembly instructions state that the water flow should start at the bottom of the reflux, out the top of the reflux, in to the bottom of the condencer then out of the top of the condencer to the waste, dose it realy matter which way it flows? ? ? is there a recommended flow rate ? ? ?

  • @leesebay do a few runs with hoses arranged differently and at different flow rates - test the results and find out

  • @leesebay Yeah, you want the coldest water in the still first sou get good reflux action. If you're pumping warm water into the column then the %avb will be way down. Then after that it doesn't seem like it matters much if it goes into the top or bottom of the condenser first.

  • anyone know what the laws are in canada for buying a still like this ? I want to buy one of these for essential oils. would this be intercepted while it was being delivered to me and confiscated? What potential trouble would i be looking at if i ordered one ?

  • @JusticeKeepers I doubt any, having a still isn't illegal, however making alcohol in them is, at least in the US anyway

  • wtf is a ratching ring?

  • @MrHarry46 Raschig rings are pieces of tube (approximately equal in length and diameter) used in large numbers as a packed bed within columns for distillations and other chemical engineering processes. They are usually ceramic or metal and provide a large surface area within the volume of the column for interaction between liquid and gas or vapour. Raschig rings are named after their inventor, the German chemist Friedrich Raschig. Wikapedia

  • @MrHarry46 You can buy them on amazon

  • @eleventhtoe thnx

  • @MrHarry46 the look to be the samthing as what you can buy for big fishtank filters its a high quality fillter you can wash and youse again

  • where can i get one of these bastards

  • How much do you discard from 20 litres rum?

  • I have a question. What if one were to recycle the waste water through a radiator, and back into the still? Cooling the hot water and reusing, in summary. Would this work? Thanks.

  • @linkchrono1955 Yes that would most certainly work, provided the radiator can dissipate enough heat and your pump is powerful enough to cycle the water through both the still and the radiator.

Using a fan on the radiator would even improve cooling.

  • @deusXmchina ...I still dont get it. does what ever you pack the column with trap impurities? How does packing the column increase the quality of the distillate?

  • What is the purpose of packing the the column with copper and what not? What is the affect of it? How does it work?

  • @Dillonfromforks

purpose is to increase surface area. increases efficiency of condenser. you can pack a condenser with anything that isn't reactive with whatever you're refluxing, in this case copper "wool" is cheap and efficient, as are the ceramic rings. You can pack a column with broken glass in some scenarios. As long as its non-reactive, increases surface area, and doesn't compress into a plug, it's a candidate.

  • in not sure if i have asked this before on your other video but how does one apply for the permit to make ethanol for fuel? is it something you have to apply for on the city, county, state, or federal level?

  • @sjjdiienno1 I agree.

  • what is the name of the clamps you use to clamp the lid down

  • how much are these?

  • How do you use a reflux still? Does it come with directions?

  • lol milk

  • Do you know Colonel Wilson? He's a genius......he has diplomatic immunity.

  • How can I get one of those in the UK

  • lumpbruisychiceny1 did you ever get an answer to your question?

  • milehidistilling Dot (.) com is his actual website although not initially clear

  • Great news..
