Wow, brought tears to my eyes. I just started counseling and medication for depression. Some of those really hit home for me. Thank you for posting this. Thank you for reaching out to those of us that hurt. Thank you for caring.
Still here, still fighting and more determined to not let it beat me. Thanks to you and all the others who hear us and reach for us. For those in the darkness, keep reaching, there are hands there somewhere. I know I managed to find some of them, you can to.
I am sorry to all those I hurt when I made my attempts. That you helped and believe I can fight back means everything. I am still fighting the thoughts but will fight harder. I don't want to make you fell the things or say the things in this video. It is a very hard battle, those like me know, but we can fight, with help from each other and those around us who do care. Life is worth it, we just have to look harder than some to find the value. Hang tough, we will make it through.
@DixiePenguin - thanks for the good words! It IS a struggle, often times, to find a reason to live. But with friends, therapy, meds, etc., we can have 'ammo' in our psychological battles. We still have to fight, but we are better equipped. Life IS worth it - and the hurt we leave behind (when our life ends by suicide) is so very hard for our loved ones to get over. Keep fighting, Dixie! And keep posting!!
I've been there, BELIEVE ME--I know how it feels to be so overwhelmed by the emptiness - just keep fighting, please. Your time is NOT up. I've learned in the last few months that traumautic things in your childhood, your past, can cause "dead spots" in the soul. I was sexually abused at a young age. I'm starting to see the connections: a lot of people w/ really fk'd up things in their past do feel empty & suicidal as adults, b/c they had to disassociate from the event when it was happening.
@pushover1 - first, thanks for your comments. You've posted here before and I am know that you are still dealing with a lot of things from the past. But realize this - the past does not have to be the blueprint for the future. YOU can make changes that - in time - will bring changes to your life and the quality of it. Don't give up - there ARE people (other than family) who care about you. Find a good therapist or counselor and give yourself a chance. Please - YOU are worth it!

@pushover1 i know the feeling I myself have attempted to committ and unfortunately found too early for the prescrip meds I O.D'd on to take full effect and they were able to get me rushed by ambulance to the hospital to have saline drips hooked up and get me flushed fast. Pissed out a good 3 litres of fluid within 3 hours easily. @pushover1 I guess what im saying now is in hindsight I know what you mean and am now on lexapro and does it get easier? maybee after a while but I still do feel alone in this world and yearning to die. I have written my will out and still fantasise that i and my loved ones will be at peace if I do commit suicide.Though I know I cannot because in reality they would be scarred for life. So I have to smile and put on a face I know that after my parents die and its just me and my sister my times up
@tomkkkkk If it's you and your sister, live for your sister. If it's just you left, find something else to live for. If you're religious, pray. @adrimare1 - you know, I deal with anxiety too, and I have meds for it when I need it, but I use a lot of breathing techniques, too, to help with that. One thing I read is "nobody ever died from a panic attack!" I try to remember that, too :)
@csnellen Not that kind of anxiety. More OCD anxiety than panic attack anxiety. I don't think I've ever had a real panic attack before. But the meds still do a great job.

PLEASE do not do this - you have no idea the number of lives you will impact, nor the trauma that those people will have to live with if you take your life. Call 911 or a suicide help-line. Help IS available and you ARE worth it!
last thing i said to my best friend b4 he killed him self was bye and it kills me 2 know that was the last time i was going 2 say bye 2 him im lost with out him never saw it coming...
You know, Latiina, there are folks who make that comment all the time. But I can assure you that if you were to kill yourself you WOULD be missed and many of those things WOULD be said about you. We don't realize how many people we touch in our life -- how about you talk with me? I can't change life for you but I can listen...
I really think that many people commit suicide for a reason. We don't live in a very helpful or compassionate world. Imagine suffering with cancer or losing your job through no fault of your own and then losing your spouse soon after. Suicide is NOT a good thing, but I can understand why some people choose to kill themselves because it's difficult and humiliating to start over sometimes.
Of course there are REASONS for killing yourself! I have never known a case where someone killed him/herself because s/he was bored or didn't have anything else to do. BUT those 'reasons' that people have, tend to not seem so relevant a few months/years down the road. Something to consider.
This vid kinda feels like it puts a guilt trip on ppl. Truth is ppl cant really voice wen feeling truly suicidal, its wen u regress into yourself and the onli thought u have is how to do it, how to get it done properly and how to make sure no one catches you beforehand and susses what u are about to do. When ppl r voicing there is still a chance, but wen they have gone on a stage ..there really isnt ANYTHING anyone can do. Its not really anyones fault, its just that you really dont wanna be here
We CAN voice when we need help, but I understand what you are saying. This isn't about guilt but about thinking, thinking of the 'side-effects' of what your death can bring. I've talked to too many people who are left behind, to ignore the grief and horror that follows the death of a loved one. Thanks for your comments, tho.
I know what it is to lose a loved one from suicide..my husband killed himself just over two years ago...and also the whole situation has made me suicidal myself...only people who have been truly suicidal can understand how this feels and how impossible things can all seem. Yes WE can voice when we need help...but depressive people often can't . I had a friend that just held me for over half an hour...I never said a word...but she knew somehow I was scared to go home. Hugs mean EVERYTHING!!!
You can for years try to find a person to talk to. Yet after you commit suicide, everybody will say: he could have talked to me.
You could be waiting for months to have a cup of coffe with a particular person - even after they promised to meet you. Yet after you commit suicide, this person will say: I would give a fortune for another hug.
I'm agree with you syrop26, people just don't care about us until they discover that you're not there anymore. 2 years ago, I talked to someone about suicide and the person told me that it's the only solution that I have, so that I may kill myself. After that she told somebody else that I was creating stories to have attention. I'm asking myself what she would think if I would die after my suicide attemp 2 years ago? Believe people when they talk about suicide! sorry for my english!
Unfortunately you both have valid points. Very often talk of suicide is not taken seriously, and even when it is, the person doesn't always see a solution. I do have a question for you, Raton-you talked about an attempt 2 years ago, but you are still with us (for which I'm thankful). What has helped you to live in these 2 years?
Have you read Veronika decides to die a Coelho book? It's the story of a girl who make a suicide attemp and we tell her that she's going to die even if this attemp did'nt kill her immediatly after. She began to want to stay but she knew she was condamed. Doctors told me that I still have 4 hours to live. I realize in these hours that I just want to stop suffering and that I want to live. I was so affraid to die that I didn't do it again.
Just because others around you do not seem to care, remember that many of them are bound up in their own 'issues' and can't help themselves, let alone someone else. But you ARE worth it, and I hope you each find a reason to choose life.
You are WRONG. Suicide is not painless. If you don't believe me, watch my "Whatever is Left" video. It is said that when a person dies by suicide, they die one time, but their friends and loved ones die a thousand deaths. If you don't believe me, talk to someone who has faced loss due to suicide - ask THEM if it's painless. Find a reason to live.
What i was referring to when i said "suicide is painless" was from the MASH title song.and I think the writer of the song meant its painless for the person doing it..I know from live that it hurts the loved ones..my step father killed himself 4 years ago. maybe what i should have said was that suicide is contagious..God help me, and all others who suffer from this pain. Sorry, If my words came of wrong..
I am aware of the "Suicide is Painless" theme song for MASH - but it's still not true. VERY FEW people die instantly from their attempt to kill themselves. I know of one instance in particular where a young man used a shot gun to the heart but was stil alive when the medics came. He begged them to help him, said he'd done a stupid thing, asked they hold his hand because he was scared, etc. He died before he got to the hospital.
Yes, suicide CAN be contagious and you often see more than one in a family's history. I stand by my words, though, that we must find a reason to live. And I know we can - I was almost a 'statistic' myself but got the help I needed. Now I try to help others. Thanks for your comments.
I didn't mean for my comments to be harsh..I always interpreted that song to mean that once you are gone, there is no pain, but it also alludes to the fact that people here would be in pain.i don't want to start an argument at all..I myself, have been in deep depression for years, and have to convince my self every half not to do it...so please understand..i know my stepfather did not die right away,he had time to call 911 after he shot himself in the chest..have a blessed day
Hi Scottiev85 - I did not feel you were trying to start an arguement, no worries. I DO worry, however, that you are suffering from depression. I hope you will find SOMEONE who truly listens and understands, that can give you the help you deserve. You are worth the effort!! cj
I appreciate your kinds words. I do have severe deppresion now for many years..My real father died in front of me when i was 8..he had a brain anuerysm..then my mom got remarried and my step father commited suicide a few years ago..i have contiplated suicide for so many years now..it feels good to have someone understand me..thank you
It is so difficult to know when to act, what to say, how to help - but we need to listen to our friends and loved ones and help them in any way we can, even if it means calling 911 or the police. But ANY threat of suicide should be taken as a serious threat.
when you get to a situation like that, at least it was so with me, i realized i dont even have friends. what friends are those who make a mockery of you?
I believe in baisc respect, and nobody should be mocked for whatever they feel or believe. In this day and age 'friends' aren't what they used to be, I'll admit that. But there is someone - even if it's an animal shelter as a volunteer. Someone needs you. You might think you have no purpose but someone DOES need you in this world. Think about it.
It's to bad for the ones that ask themselves what they did, maybe it was what they didn't do. Maybe their lack of support when it was needed the most. Maybe it was the lack of a school system that not only knew something was going on, but did nothing to prevent the bullying. Maybe when someone in the office seems to be a bit off...it isn't them trying to rebel because of work, something else is going on in their head.
Help them, give them time off if someone seems to be sad. Give them a hug!
Also, people don't do it because of others. They do it because events that has happened to them, and the inability to control their emotions, anxiety, and the pressures they feel are so strong, they are just to the breaking point of driving someone insane.
Coming from someone that has considered the tragic outcome from childhood to this very moment at 41 years old.
FOCUS, and look at the people that are depressed. Don't ask them to come to you for dinner, or to hang out, go to them, force yourself onto them to comfort them. Just remember not to talk about subjects that might be stressing that person. Get them through the hard times. Therapy is not even helping to deal with my issues right now. It is not always "just a way out". It is the pressure that makes you just snap before you think.
if people would anly say those things when we are still around mabey we wouldn't want to kill ourselves. i am in no way putting blame on anyone else. we just feel so overwhelmed with everything that it seems to be the best way. no more pain. no more tears. we r the people that have to deal whit it day in and day out. we cant hurt if we r not here anymore. we never think about who we hurt. we just think bout all the people that hurt us.
You make a valid point - it is important that we ALL recognize the need of others, not just ourselves, to encourage and let others know we love them. NOW, not when they are gone. But let me also say that there are many reasons to live - and I hope if you are thinking about suicide, you will watch some of my other vids. Life is worth living even if those around us don't tell us so.
Read Explaining colours to a blind man. Not only will it enlighten many as to what living with a mental illness and chronic fatigue syndrome is like, it also gives comfort to those sufferers who think there is no hope and that they are alone. It is very informative, sometimes shocking but also very funny in parts. All in all, a good read and highly recommended.
you know, i like this video, its true, i thought to myself "when he asked for that hug yesterday....why didnt i give it to him." i thought he was gone, i take this seriously.
i am the one who ''is always happy''and always making people laugh.... every day is a show...to my wife/family/kids/ and friends...i wake up and put on a smile for the world...here is the stupid part....i dont have a reason ive been like this for 13 years
Scrapy - it's not stupid. I was the same way for more than 30 years. Depression is an illness, not a weakness, and it sounds like you are probably dealing with that. Just like a person doesn't have a "reason" to have MS, we don't always have a reason to suffer from depression. PLEASE see your doctor or a therapist - you are worth the effort!
Thank you for your video response. This video is very well done. Unfortunately in my case he lived with me for 5 months and i was with him almost 2 years ... no warning sign for me at all.. he didnt want help. Thanks your video said alot
Question ssri's(prozac etc.) they might be detrimental(greedy people wanting to make lots of money at the expense of millions of lives. do not blame internet discussion groups. the big pharma people cast the blame to shut freedom of speech down
All meds have potential side effects. Mental health problems are very difficult to treat. Meds work for some people, not for all. That is true of ALL meds, not just the ones for mental health problems. Each person responds to them in different ways. Yes, they can cause negative reactions - but they can also save lives. If you are on medication, keep taking it! If it's causing problems for you, talk with your doctor.
I have been remiss in reminding you how very much I admire your work. I especially love the natural soundtrack. Did you record this yourself ? Keep up the good work, my dear. 5+ stars !!!!
It made me think of my 1st, lost love; I was never able to save her from herself. These numbers & support groups may have made the difference. Big Hugs, A.
prounounced Flu-oxe-teen. This Anti-depressant drug can be more affective than other drugs, ask your doctor for more info. REMEMBER: All Mental health problems can be helped with Excircise and a health diet. Good Luck.
Prozac was a disaster for me - each person is different and their body reacts to various drugs differently. Paxil is effective for me. A person who suffers from depression needs to see a psychiatrist, as well as their general doc, and be treated individually. Exercise and other "natural" things also can make a difference. Thanks for your comments.
I don't know how old your son is, but PLEASE if at all possible, get him in counseling ASAP. It might not "fix" everything but if he can connect w/a therapist, it might help keep him alive. cj
he is 16 yrs. old, but this has been going on for quite a while. And when we do take him to a therapist he is not honest with them, so what is the point, if she is being lied to. He had a 1st experience and tried weed 2 weeks, ago. He absolutely loves it, he told me it takes his depression away. He is on medication sent by the doctor...abilify and lexapro.
he tells me that he doesn't want to depend on pills to feel normal, but he tried stopping it got worst. he felt bad physically and I walk in his room the very moment that he tried to kill himself...
People are fake and will say anything to cover, justify and rationalize their feelings towards anything for when asked to help will never be the first one willing to offer. Heartless deceptive society instills, enforces encourages deceptive character and social attitude among it's own citizens and covers up, rationalizes, justifies it's deceptive feelings with deceptive regrets.
Thanks for exposing fake feelings of a heartless society.
Received message from RIPFILMS to watch. It took a lot of love, dedication, & understanding to make this video. It's a very significant problem-can often get overlooked-people & their emotions, severe depression & anxiety-like focusing on the outside world of War & Peace; but, not so much the War & Peace within. I hope you're doing well & everyone else. Even the happiest of us can get weighed down, getting caught off-guard, thrown down as we're laughing in the sun. Nice message here~
RIPFILMS thank you for sending this video to me! I feel very sad for all people suffering from depression! Wish you all the best in the difficult time you are having! Hugs,
Hey. You are so right. But sometimes you just seem to be too weak to make a call. Sometimes you just want to stop all fucking things, happening around you. Just want to sleep and not to wake up again. But you are right. It helps if someone says "I love you. Please stay"
Depression is a terrible thing and it can make us feel we are not up to the task of living - but there are people out there who are willing to help. If you feel suicidal, please do call 1-800-SUICIDE. Don't give up - stay with us, okay? cj

You know, Latiina, there are folks who make that comment all the time. But I can assure you that if you were to kill yourself you WOULD be missed and many of those things WOULD be said about you. We don't realize how many people we touch in our life -- how about you talk with me? I can't change life for you but I can listen...
csnellen 2 years ago
I really think that many people commit suicide for a reason. We don't live in a very helpful or compassionate world. Imagine suffering with cancer or losing your job through no fault of your own and then losing your spouse soon after. Suicide is NOT a good thing, but I can understand why some people choose to kill themselves because it's difficult and humiliating to start over sometimes.
wvd1979 2 years ago
Of course there are REASONS for killing yourself! I have never known a case where someone killed him/herself because s/he was bored or didn't have anything else to do. BUT those 'reasons' that people have, tend to not seem so relevant a few months/years down the road. Something to consider.
csnellen 2 years ago
This vid kinda feels like it puts a guilt trip on ppl. Truth is ppl cant really voice wen feeling truly suicidal, its wen u regress into yourself and the onli thought u have is how to do it, how to get it done properly and how to make sure no one catches you beforehand and susses what u are about to do. When ppl r voicing there is still a chance, but wen they have gone on a stage ..there really isnt ANYTHING anyone can do. Its not really anyones fault, its just that you really dont wanna be here
julesrobert21 2 years ago

Hugs mean EVERYTHING!!!
julesrobert21 2 years ago
I remember when I was too depressed to ask for help. I am blessed to have a friend close enough who knew I needed it, and saw to it that I got it.
If you have not visited the site, you might want to check out Friend and Family of Suicide Survivors.
I am sorry for your loss.
csnellen 2 years ago
You can for years try to find a person to talk to. Yet after you commit suicide, everybody will say: he could have talked to me.
You could be waiting for months to have a cup of coffe with a particular person - even after they promised to meet you. Yet after you commit suicide, this person will say: I would give a fortune for another hug.
syrop26 2 years ago 3
I'm agree with you syrop26, people just don't care about us until they discover that you're not there anymore. 2 years ago, I talked to someone about suicide and the person told me that it's the only solution that I have, so that I may kill myself. After that she told somebody else that I was creating stories to have attention. I'm asking myself what she would think if I would die after my suicide attemp 2 years ago? Believe people when they talk about suicide! sorry for my english!
ratonrosette 2 years ago
Unfortunately you both have valid points. Very often talk of suicide is not taken seriously, and even when it is, the person doesn't always see a solution. I do have a question for you, Raton-you talked about an attempt 2 years ago, but you are still with us (for which I'm thankful). What has helped you to live in these 2 years?
csnellen 2 years ago
Have you read Veronika decides to die a Coelho book? It's the story of a girl who make a suicide attemp and we tell her that she's going to die even if this attemp did'nt kill her immediatly after. She began to want to stay but she knew she was condamed. Doctors told me that I still have 4 hours to live. I realize in these hours that I just want to stop suffering and that I want to live. I was so affraid to die that I didn't do it again.
ratonrosette 2 years ago
Just because others around you do not seem to care, remember that many of them are bound up in their own 'issues' and can't help themselves, let alone someone else. But you ARE worth it, and I hope you each find a reason to choose life.

SUICIDE IS PAINLESS
scottiev85 2 years ago
You are WRONG. Suicide is not painless. If you don't believe me, watch my "Whatever is Left" video. It is said that when a person dies by suicide, they die one time, but their friends and loved ones die a thousand deaths. If you don't believe me, talk to someone who has faced loss due to suicide - ask THEM if it's painless. Find a reason to live.
csnellen 2 years ago
What i was referring to when i said "suicide is painless" was from the MASH title song.and I think the writer of the song meant its painless for the person doing it..I know from live that it hurts the loved ones..my step father killed himself 4 years ago. maybe what i should have said was that suicide is contagious..God help me, and all others who suffer from this pain. Sorry, If my words came of wrong..
scottiev85 2 years ago
I am aware of the "Suicide is Painless" theme song for MASH - but it's still not true. VERY FEW people die instantly from their attempt to kill themselves. I know of one instance in particular where a young man used a shot gun to the heart but was stil alive when the medics came. He begged them to help him, said he'd done a stupid thing, asked they hold his hand because he was scared, etc. He died before he got to the hospital.
csnellen 2 years ago
Yes, suicide CAN be contagious and you often see more than one in a family's history. I stand by my words, though, that we must find a reason to live. And I know we can - I was almost a 'statistic' myself but got the help I needed. Now I try to help others. Thanks for your comments.
csnellen 2 years ago
I didn't mean for my comments to be harsh..I always interpreted that song to mean that once you are gone, there is no pain, but it also alludes to the fact that people here would be in pain.i don't want to start an argument at all..I myself, have been in deep depression for years, and have to convince my self every half not to do it...so please understand..i know my stepfather did not die right away,he had time to call 911 after he shot himself in the chest..have a blessed day
scottiev85 2 years ago
Hi Scottiev85 - I did not feel you were trying to start an arguement, no worries. I DO worry, however, that you are suffering from depression. I hope you will find SOMEONE who truly listens and understands, that can give you the help you deserve. You are worth the effort!! cj

I appreciate your kinds words. I do have severe deppresion now for many years..My real father died in front of me when i was 8..he had a brain anuerysm..then my mom got remarried and my step father commited suicide a few years ago..i have contiplated suicide for so many years now..it feels good to have someone understand me..thank you

"I didnt think she's serious, why didnt she call me..."
This one sentence is the point...
gothicallysuicidal 2 years ago
It is so difficult to know when to act, what to say, how to help - but we need to listen to our friends and loved ones and help them in any way we can, even if it means calling 911 or the police. But ANY threat of suicide should be taken as a serious threat.
csnellen 2 years ago
when you get to a situation like that, at least it was so with me, i realized i dont even have friends. what friends are those who make a mockery of you?
gothicallysuicidal 2 years ago
I believe in baisc respect, and nobody should be mocked for whatever they feel or believe. In this day and age 'friends' aren't what they used to be, I'll admit that. But there is someone - even if it's an animal shelter as a volunteer. Someone needs you. You might think you have no purpose but someone DOES need you in this world. Think about it.
csnellen 2 years ago
It's to bad for the ones that ask themselves what they did, maybe it was what they didn't do. Maybe their lack of support when it was needed the most. Maybe it was the lack of a school system that not only knew something was going on, but did nothing to prevent the bullying. Maybe when someone in the office seems to be a bit off...it isn't them trying to rebel because of work, something else is going on in their head.
Help them, give them time off if someone seems to be sad. Give them a hug!
one234569and10 2 years ago
Also, people don't do it because of others. They do it because events that has happened to them, and the inability to control their emotions, anxiety, and the pressures they feel are so strong, they are just to the breaking point of driving someone insane.
Coming from someone that has considered the tragic outcome from childhood to this very moment at 41 years old.
one234569and10 2 years ago
FOCUS, and look at the people that are depressed. Don't ask them to come to you for dinner, or to hang out, go to them, force yourself onto them to comfort them. Just remember not to talk about subjects that might be stressing that person. Get them through the hard times. Therapy is not even helping to deal with my issues right now. It is not always "just a way out". It is the pressure that makes you just snap before you think.
one234569and10 2 years ago
if people would anly say those things when we are still around mabey we wouldn't want to kill ourselves. i am in no way putting blame on anyone else. we just feel so overwhelmed with everything that it seems to be the best way. no more pain. no more tears. we r the people that have to deal whit it day in and day out. we cant hurt if we r not here anymore. we never think about who we hurt. we just think bout all the people that hurt us.
thedamthing412 2 years ago 2

All in all, a good read and highly recommended.

i am the one who ''is always happy''and always making people laugh.... every day is a show...to my wife/family/kids/ and friends...i wake up and put on a smile for the world...here is the stupid part....i dont have a reason ive been like this for 13 years
scrapy56 2 years ago
Scrapy - it's not stupid. I was the same way for more than 30 years. Depression is an illness, not a weakness, and it sounds like you are probably dealing with that. Just like a person doesn't have a "reason" to have MS, we don't always have a reason to suffer from depression. PLEASE see your doctor or a therapist - you are worth the effort!

Question ssri's(prozac etc.) they might be detrimental(greedy people wanting to make lots of money at the expense of millions of lives. do not blame internet discussion groups. the big pharma people cast the blame to shut freedom of speech down
lucinda2005 3 years ago
All meds have potential side effects. Mental health problems are very difficult to treat. Meds work for some people, not for all. That is true of ALL meds, not just the ones for mental health problems. Each person responds to them in different ways. Yes, they can cause negative reactions - but they can also save lives. If you are on medication, keep taking it! If it's causing problems for you, talk with your doctor.
csnellen 3 years ago
I have been remiss in reminding you how very much I admire your work. I especially love the natural soundtrack. Did you record this yourself ? Keep up the good work, my dear. 5+ stars !!!!
It made me think of my 1st, lost love; I was never able to save her from herself. These numbers & support groups may have made the difference. Big Hugs, A.

As mentioned in another response, although diet and exercise is important in re: to our mental health, it doesn't fix everything. cj
csnellen 4 years ago
Fluoxetine (Prozac)?
prounounced Flu-oxe-teen. This Anti-depressant drug can be more affective than other drugs, ask your doctor for more info. REMEMBER: All Mental health problems can be helped with Excircise and a health diet. Good Luck.
TheHill98 4 years ago

Hey. You are so right. But sometimes you just seem to be too weak to make a call. Sometimes you just want to stop all fucking things, happening around you. Just want to sleep and not to wake up again. But you are right. It helps if someone says "I love you. Please stay"
