May someone tell me why this video only has a 2 star rating? I thought that I did a good job with this list, do you want me to make a new list complete with stats and explaining why one guy gets ranked over another?
Probaly Because you put Marshawn Lynch on the list instead of LT and Derrick Ward is on the list, you put Brandon Jacobs in front of Michael Turner. Must be a giants fan.
I'm not a Giants fan, actually I'm a Pats fan and I hate the Giants, but Ward led the NFL in yards per carry and Brandon Jacobs is so dominant that thats why they get ranked there, and side note, Brandon Jacobs is such a powerful runner that Madden 10 is adding a feature called pro tak and they are adding it cause of Jacobs
OK my apologies on the Giants fan thing, but yards per carry man. Thats really nothing. How many touchdowns did he have like 3 or 4. He really shouldn't have been in the top ten, nonetheless number 5. Derrick Ward- 1025 yards and 2td's, Chris Johnson-1200+yds 9td's, Steve Slaton, 1200+yds 9td's, Thomas Jones-1300+yds and like 13 or 14td's.
How is yards per carry not relavent when the man has a 1000 yard season and he was splitting reps with two other backs. Derrick ward deserves to be on this list. the question is was it a one year fluke or is he really as good a runningback as he was in 2008
Derrick Ward went to the Bucs and they supposedly have one of the NFL's best offensive lines so Ward(if healthy) is a lock for a 1000 yard season and maybe 1500+ yard season in '09, with the Giants in '08 Ward was unstoppable, he usually came in after Jacobs softened up the defense so that way everyone is to sore to tackle Ward but still Ward is much better than given credit for and should have about a 95 overall rating in Madden if rated accurately
look at it this way, running backs who get a lot of TDs are the goal line/power type guys because they just power it in, and with the best power back in the league why would the Giants use ward in goal line? exactly, thats why he doesn't have many TDs the TDs that he goes have are probably huge gains ex. 50+ yards, just watch out, Ward is a top ten NFL running back(maybe top 5) if he keeps playing at his '08 caliber in Tampa Bay he'll have a great career but definantly no HOF
Thats true, but I still think you're goinng a little to far with the whole top ten thing, let alone TOP 5. He's good but he's not on the level of a lot of backs. I can name ten backs now that are better than him: LaDainian Tomlison, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Clinton Portis, Brian Westbrook, Brandon Jacobs, Deangelo Williams, Michael Turner, Steven Jackson and Chris Johnson. There are a few more I could name. He has a ways to go to be up here. He needs a breakout TD season.
well, Mcihael Turner is overrated(just saying) and as it is I think we should just wait and see for our selfs(lets hope there isnt any freak injuries to any good players)
best rookie running back is Eric Dickerson, not Peterson cause he was injured, and btw there is always a lot of great rookie running backs cause it's one of the easiest positions to transition to from college
Williams did have a better year than Peterson, Williams faced 7, 8, and 9 men in the box also, he ran all over a the Bucs and they were a good run defence. AP had 363 att. and Willams has 273, if williams had 363 he would have shitted on AP's yards he might have gotten 2000
anyone who thinks deangelo williams had the best year is a dumbass... he wasn't even in the probowl morons. get your facts straight. Deangelo never faced the 8 to 9 man boxes that adrian faced because the DB's were too busy covering steve smith.
Deangelo Williams put up most of his stats late in the season and Pro Bowl voting is over at week 13. Williams had zero fumbles, how many did Peterson have? Not Zero. Williams averaged more yards per carry than Peterson, and Williams lead all running backs in total touchddowns. Williams should have been named MVP, without him the Panthers would be 5-11, 6-10, or7-9 but they were 11-5.
no genius, without williams, jonathon stewart would have put up better stats. and again, you fail to mention how williams was going against 6 to 7 man boxes while peterson was running against 8 to 9 and sometimes even 10 men boxes all looking to take down peterson. what peterson did these season was outstanding because no other RB would get that many yards with the entire defense focused on him while against the panthers, defense focuses on williams. his performance was not really all that.
ok without williams the panthers TD difference wouldnt be doubled and they probably wouldnt go to the playoffs. .And he didnt go in the probowl because its based on votes.Stats adrian peterson yds 1760yds 10td 9 fum ,deangelo williams 1515yds 18 tds 0fum
Yeah, but Deagelo Williams was 2nd in the NFL in rushing and lead all running backs in total touchdowns, and he did this with a less talented run blocking line than Adrian Peterson had.
I'm not saying that Williams is better I'm just saying that he had a better season. If this list was based strictly on talente then Peterson would be #1 by a large margin.
are you retarded yourself? look at deangelo williams stats, he had the most touchdowns of any player in the league over 1500 yards, 5 yards average and..... 0 FUMBLES ..(Z E R O)
it's just stupid for other people to say no he is not when he was the best running back of the year. I also would say he he is better than AP. 2008 was his first year as a starter.
zero fumbles don't mean shit because adrian had ZERO fumbles when he wasn't facing 9 man boxes. 90% of the yards adrian gets is after contact while Deangelo probably gets close to 15. steve smith takes away numerous defenders and delhomme made sure that the safeties stayed out the box. but nice try genius.
Almost every week you see Williams trucking defenders and scoring touchdowns on Sportscenter, and I've seen Peterson play a couple times, and Peterson is easily the most talented running back in the NFL, but Williams had a better season statistically.
to say that is the dumbest thing to say ever. no he didn't have the better year statistically. AD was a candidate for the MVP award up until the final game of the season. Williams wasn't even the MVP of his team. the teams game planned around peterson, not williams. thats when you know you are elite. having better stats despite the entire defense focused on you is even better.
Williams had 8 more rushing touchdowns, was second in the league in average yards per carry(1st is Derrick Ward), and one more thing he DIDN'T FUMBLE, so I think that Williams had a better season statistically, but Peterson was always facing several men in the box so his stats are far more impressive than Williams, but Williams stats are better on paper.
there not even better ON paper because deangelo is not even the best player on the offensive side of the team, let alone the target of the defense. Williams numbers are based on the respect given to steve smith. statistics don't even say who had a better year. Adrian was hunted down each week, and he showed that he could not only carry the burden, but run wild as well. he had the better year than any other rb there while you are trying to make a case for no pro bowl 1 year wonder.
Williams is more valuable than Steve Smith. They made the playoffs with an 11-5 record, take away Williams it would be 7-9, now if you take away Steve Smith but kept Williams it would be 9-7. The main reason for this is that running backs are more valuable than receivers. Now for the Williams/Peterson debate, look at the stats(yards, yards per carry, touchdowns, and fumbles) of each of them side by side and without considering anything else tell me who had the better season statistically.
statistics don't mean who had a better year. once you grow out of that mentality, only then would you stop making stupid analysis. Kevin Williams had a better statistical season than albert haynesworth but albert was the one considered to have the best year as a DT. Also, Steve smith is the best player on the panthers while williams had ONE good season and if the panthers could EASILY replace him with stewart. Williams was just a beneficiary of that offense, not the centerpiece.
the video is rated top ten runningbacks of 2010. peterson is by far and away a the number 1. stats or not. no where williams mentioned in the mvp race while adrian was the lead dog up until the last week of the season.
c'mon he was named a starter last year and hes been in the league for 2 years you call that one good season? If he started as a rookie and if the panthers had more TV time you would see whos number 1 and i know your going to say AP but look at the highlight tape of their 2008 season williams broke more tackles than AP does and when AP played in bank of america stadium we only allowed him 77 yds.
Well obviously you aren't a big panther fan since the game was at the dome in minny and deangelo has been in the league for 3 years and the other years he couldn't even beat out deshaun or whoever else they had. And in the game AD had 77 yards, DW had 29 yards. You can't even argue here because some of the biggest runs from AD occured AFTER he had to juke out someone BEHIND the line of scrimmage, Just look at tapes of both. Every play from AD you see has a safety down with the 3 LBs he beats.
i did look at it. panthers NEVER played the vikings at home and i have seen williams highlights a million times and i have my own AD highlight video uploaded on youtube. you don't know jackshit about the panthers but for some reason you wanted to share your opinion.
in the nfl you dont count his rookie year. And he leads the NCAA in all purpose yards over 7,000 yds and he ranks 4th in NCAA inrushing yards only behind ron dayne, riicky williams, and tony dorsett.
wow you dont know jack shit about the NFL do you? the players that dont play their rookie seasons are the players whose rookie season doesn't mean much. When was the rushing title set? in adrian's ROOKIE season. Adrian would have blown that record away had he not been injured. Deangelo was never even a serious heisman contender... and it has nothing to do with his nfl ability anyway. Deangelo couldn't even beat out foster and goings his first two seasons.
He had no business in the pro bowl are you crazy he played his best football yet he had more yds and tds than players like larry johson and willie parker.
and less yards than players like Thomas Jones, Steve Slaton (who should've took his spot in the probowl, he was the 2nd best back in the AFC last year), Chris Johnson (these three should've been selected to the probowl), LaDainian Tomlinson, Marshawn Lynch, and Jamal Lewis. Who cares if it was his best year
Ronnie Brown was nothing special, he wasn't even a 1,000 yard rusher or a top 5 back in the AFC..so yeah HE HAD NO BUSINESS GOING TO THE PROBOWL
I dont care if Dolphins fan admit that he had no business in the pro bowl, im just telling you that he was supposed to be there and he was close to 1000 yds.
tell me he's supposed to be there when he wasn't even top 5 in his own conference, you haven't made one case why Brown should've went to the probowl over players like Lynch (who get in as a alternate) or Steve Slaton.
Like I said before......Ronnie Brown had no business going to the 2009 probowl. He wasn't a top 3 back in the AFC...that's just the truth.
It's not Slaton's fault that Forte plays on a shitty offensive team with QBs that can't do anything, but dump the ball down to a RB. Stick Slaton in that situation and he'll be 50% of the offensive yardage too.
Same goes for Chris Johnson, their QB is a overrated has been and their WR can't catch for shit.........no Slaton's fault.
Slaton had a better year than both despite spending almost half the year running against top 10 defenses, something Forte and Johnson didn't have to do.
The Titans were the best team in the league last season, they ust lost all their chemistry because they benched all their good payers after they had home field advantage. Also the Titans beat the Steelers in the regular season, and the Titans had the best win/loss recoord in the league 13-3.
The Titans were not the best team in the league last season.......that goes to the Steelers who won the Superbowl. Who cares if they beat the Steelers during the regular season....the regular season doesn't mean crap. Tenn. lost to Houston, does that mean Houston was better than Tenn? Tenn. was one and done in the playoffs......they couldn't even win one playoff game which means they weren't the best team last season.
True, he had a better year statistically, but Forte has more than 50% of the Bears offensive yardage, in other wprds Forte is the Bears offense, Slaton has Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels on his team and there for is not as valuable to his team as Forte is. Chris Johnson is the starting running back for a run oriented offense of the best team in the NFL this season, also he made it to the pro bowl, so Slaton may have better stats but Johnson and Forte are more valuable to their team.
Why weren't Frank Gore or Maurice Jones-Drew there and why was Derrick Ward in your top 5?

I dont care if Dolphins fan admit that he had no business in the pro bowl, im just telling you that he was supposed to be there and he was close to 1000 yds.

tell me he's supposed to be there when he wasn't even top 5 in his own conference, you haven't made one case why Brown should've went to the probowl over players like Lynch (who get in as a alternate) or Steve Slaton.
Like I said before......Ronnie Brown had no business going to the 2009 probowl. He wasn't a top 3 back in the AFC...that's just the truth.

Adrian Peterson is better but Deangelo Williams had a better season and he should have won the NFL MVP award.

Also the Titans were not the best team in the league last season.....they got knocked out of the first round and the Steelers won the superbowl.

Slaton had a better year than Forte and Johnson.......
cwright8426 3 years ago
True, he had a better year statistically, but Forte has more than 50% of the Bears offensive yardage, in other wprds Forte is the Bears offense, Slaton has Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels on his team and there for is not as valuable to his team as Forte is. Chris Johnson is the starting running back for a run oriented offense of the best team in the NFL this season, also he made it to the pro bowl, so Slaton may have better stats but Johnson and Forte are more valuable to their team.
