Only thing that would have helped more is reviewing the amount of gain it can dial up, and it would be helpful to hear what the tone knobs do when you chug the low string, rather than strum all the strings in standard tuning and tweak knobs. IMO from what I heard, this pedal has no TONAL advantage, unless you are running through a beauty tube amp with not enough grind. Metal zone, hardwire, fullbore, muff, any of those would be far better for tone. This pedals advantage is a boost imo.

I might be deaf, or it might be the miking, but I barely hear ANY difference in all these preset, except a SLIGHT change in EQ or gain or volume. I hear more difference between 2 same-concept classic overdrives of 2 different brands than between any of the Cyborg presets.

No matter how hard I try I can't enjoy digital distortion. These pedals just lack so much in true guitar tone and you hear it when an artist performs with one live. Analog distortion pedals are the way to go if you can't afford a good tube amp. Quality tone is completely necessary, especially in distorted music, so don't sell yourselves short. Stay true all :-)

You said what people always give me thumbs down for saying....so how come you get away with it? I actually have an amp with 4 EL84s and 3 12AX7s, and if I want front end push, I have an ALL-TUBE external preamp (a modified 1959 motorola phono pre) for that, and one day I will be able to set aside the 400 bucks for an effectrode tube chorus, then maybe the effectrode all tube opto-comp, and maybe the tube drive. It's worth it to stay all analog, tube if possible. Bad enough recording's digital.

Ehh, i use a digitech grunge boosted into a slightly crunchy JCM900 212 combo with a bbe boosta grande in the loop and get complements on my high gain tones all the time live. I was actually offered a trade (my entire amp/fx rig for a dual rec half stack) but i said no. SS distortion is great if you use it with tubes, but on its own it sucks.

After listening to the demo on the Rocktron site, this youtube video does not do it justice. The blues / crunch settings need a low gain setting and single coils to show off what the pedal does on the high end. Check out the Rocktron site to hear the range of sounds this pedal can produce.
