@HighlanderAlb tallava and turbofolk is the mixture of the most rythmic roma music with balkan folk it doesn't matter if it is albanian,bulgarian,serbia,but only albanians and albanian roma call it tallava. others call it balkanic music turkishmusic in the other hand has reflected in some Gjakova,Peja and Shkodra city songs

@HighlanderAlb Ottoman influence is not very present on "tallava" or dances but it is in songs of gjakova,peja and shkodra.tallava and turbo folk is vrey present in a lot of balkan countries it is the mixture of new roma music and balkan folk people like rhythm so that is why goran bregovic is aprecceated in his serbian-roma mixtures.

naranclse Wilhelm, I want to explain something to you. You are right that Ottoman invasion has influenced Balkan cultures, and I don't deny it. Th thing is that in Turkey you can find all kinds of music and instruments that you can find from Bosnia to Iran (Ottoman Empire). It is logical that Ottoman culture was most influenced. Turkish influence is present in "Albanian" tallava music but not this kind. As for this one, maybe Turks got it from us, but this is pure Albanian folklore. Enjoy :)

@BlizzardRoach you were the one to bring it up. Folk music indeed has nothing to with politics. I'll explain something to you, as I am something of a folk musician myself too. First of all, when cultures live side by side they always influence each other. For examlpe there are romanian elements in hungarian folk art, and there are hungarian elements in romanian folk art as well. That is not stealing, that is the consequence of living together.

@BlizzardRoach Similarly, all the nations of the Balkan have been influenced by turkish art, as the terrytory was under turkish occupation for 500 years. At least the majoroty of the Peninsula. Now this shows in music, language (tonnes of turkish words in serbian, albanian, macedonian), clothing, etc...

@narancsleWilhelm Well my friend ,albanians are the oldest nation in Europe,our language dates back to ancient times.First af all it is wrong to compere our language and heritage to " artificial nation of ? ...macedonians....? this country and nation was formed in 1945.Albania gained its independence after the first w.w. in 28 November 1912.

@narancsleWilhelm Hi from Kosova! if i understood your question right my answer is:yes,but the albanian version of it is the albanian lahuta;check it out on wikipedia and also this one:Albanian Songs of the Frontier Warriors.

Lahuta has two strings. Albanians use it for performing Folk Epic songs about heroes(true or part of legends). The origin of this music are the mountains of northern Albania,southern part of Montenegro where Albanians always lived(nowadays some assimilated) and west Kosovo.
