  • The best part, in my opinion, was that groove he had going with the cowbells towards the beginning. That was sick.

  • Yo what did u record this on?

  • the word "superhuman" comes to mind

  • Thomas, learning double bass is a slow process..

  • 333

  • 0:02 . . . PRAISE BREAK!!!!!

  • 4:30 to 4:45 DAMN..... haha good stuff Thomas

  • fuckin' haters! i've never understood what people have against double bass. post more double bass videos just to piss people off, you don't need ignorant douches like that as fans!

  • I recommend that you use two 28 wuhan chinas as your hi hats. It sounds like a tank blowing up a school bus full of children

  • @kevingoren LOL i wanna hear that

  • Yellow drums are cool. Probably 3rd video I ever watched of him.

  • this man is ridiculous lol he has a groove noone understands lol one of the most talented and original drummers ever

  • no dbl pedal..heal toe

  • His ghost notes are completely insane!! Hand speed and technique for days..... Between that and his ridiculously fast foot, there's no need for a double pedal..

  • the way he utilizes his cow bells is very nice i like it

  • man! the hi-hat looks like 20" :))))

  • My hero!!!

  • Never thought I'd see the day Thomas Pridgen uses double bass... D: But hearing him play blast beats, I think it'd be really cool to hear him play in some death metal haha

  • @100RoundDrums the set up is too sick

  • i dont think its double pedal and he really got to work on those unison blasts after meeting up with derek roddy during the presentation of the DW Performance serie video clip

  • let him use a double pedal. he's still a beast drummer. he can do whatever he wants!!

  • wait that's a fucking hi hat?

  • @jizz1255 crashes as hi-hats lol

  • Even Pridgen loses his groove with double pedal.

This proves my theory that double bass is pure evil.

  • @hom3r0824 I hear what sounds like a double bass - but when the camera panned to his pedal there's only 1!! It looked like he was using "heel/toe" technique..

  • @lyrikz he use's 2 bass drums

  • @hom3r0824 I don't use double bass pedals, I think Thomas Pridgen probably hasn't used them too much either but I reckon in about a year he'll be ridiculous on it :P this video is awesome though

  • @hom3r0824 With a quick single kick foot, like Thomas', there's just no need; plus, you don;t get to use your hi-hat pedal either...

  • @hom3r0824 He's never had pocket anyway.

  • @btownshreds1 You should check the memorials, he definitely pocket plays in the pocket

  • @daviddmo i repeated my sentence haha

  • @hom3r0824 or he just started using double bass pedal and he's just practicing with/getting used to it (Even though he still sounds flawless in this video)... Still an amazing drummer regardless.

  • @hom3r0824 What about Virgil Donati? I think he's one of many that actually make it work.

  • @hom3r0824 ur retarted, u just have to know how to use it in the right way...take a look at dave weckl, colaiuta, dave dicenso, chris coleman the list goes on

  • @hom3r0824 yo what? haha nah not even son

  • @hom3r0824 he was still on his backbeat but kick was sixteenth for while then he switch to group 5 notes and 7 notes in a beat. That is call polyrhythm, bro. you should learn more about music and dont judge other peoples random like that.

  • @funkeemon I should learn more about music while your defining the definition of groove with numbers and rhythmic notation ..... Groove is defined by feeling and danceability. My comment is based on Pridgens ability to make these crazy rhythms groove in bands like the Memorials and Mars. But I personally stop feeling that groove when a double bass is used to go beyond the speed of a single bass. I think its because the beat loses its a definition within the music for me.

  • @hom3r0824 It's just for you then you should not put random common, bro. Thomas is a pro. who are you to judge him ?

  • I would say that he is most comfortable on the edge of his ability where most people feel uncomfortable.

  • 5:40 ... TP with a double pedal ? we are all doomed...

  • Great way to start the day. Keep up the incredible work! A true master!

  • You are developing a super unique sound. I'm digging it.

  • I see you practicing those blasts. Derek Roddy really left his mark. It's good to see accomplished players still seeking advancement. It's encouraging as hell.

  • someone's been working on music with a Mr. Ben Weinman.....

  • you killin them drums like always

  • Dope! Very different style from every body else

  • groove at 8:11 is sooo nasty!!!
