The U.S. constitution is always under attack from its own, but it is protected because of the brilliant founding fathers decision to create a republic with a republican Legislative, Executive, and Independent Judicial branch. I am not saying that Oz should copy, but it might make for a stronger government.

If you took the U.S. constitution and made it the Australian constitution you already have a much more conservative country, and you could possibly have secured the, what would become the office of the presidency for the Liberal Party as well as the senate for many many years.

@JohnRhysMusician - Why? Well even though australia has independence (in a way) from the United Kingdom by turning abolishing the monarchy will mean that a new constitution will be needed. The one that already exists describes the people as men and women were as if australia became a republic then the new consitution will call the people citizens meaning we have no rights whatsoever. Plus if we become a republic it will mean China will be able to bully australia more than it already does.

Also however you have many rightists protesting now in the U.S. for concerns about economic, health care, and education policy, as well as the integrity of the constitution. You also have protests from leftists in favor of gay marriage, abortion rights, health care, and immigration policy.

@AddictofFilm I also don't see how China could more easily bully you. They do bully the U.S., but that is because Obama is weak and China holds a lot of the U.S.'s debt. Crafting a new constitution is a very delicate issue and there is little margin for error, but the U.S. is a perfect guide.
