  • just marijauan thou there are some people just out there to put anything in them thou.

  • All drugs should be treated like beer. Prohibited to minors. Freely available to adults. No driving under influence. Cheaply available from big manufacturers. Premium products from small specialty suppliers. Legally allowed to grow or make your own (like home brewing). No govt databases of addicts (what a dumb totalitarian idea!). Addiction therapy should be freely available to all who want it, funded with the savings by not waging a drug war. It's not about the drugs. It's about liberty.

  • what an amazing man. i stumbled upon these videos, now i cant stop search for more. we need more courageous men on our side, like this man.

  • I say get rid of prescriptions period. It should be like Canada. If I know what I have I should be able to go buy penecilin. I shouldn't have to go to the doctor if I KNOW WHAT I NEED. Plus how many kick backs do doctors get from certain medications. That's BS. Ready. Put the money for the War on Drugs on Education and Rehab. Legalize Drugs = Recession over/gang activity is rendered useless. Socialize Health Care and Education (college).

  • ALL DRUGS SHOULD BE LEGAL!

    Prohibition doesn't work!

  • marijuana should be straight legal. it should be in the same category as alcohol/tobacco. only when u smoke pot for a good amount of time do u realize how subtle and passive it is. sure,it causes side effects, but what drug, legal or illegal doesn't..there's no criminal element to it at all. plus, most drug cartels make most of their profit from marijuana. we need to take the business outta their hands. marijuana is the heart of drug cartels. it gives them a firm foundation to sell the harder drugs

  • Mike Gravel for king.

  • They are different, I am for drug decriminalization though.

  • i love this man

  • All drugs are the same. Some have more immediate or severe health risks but none of them are good for you, but the substance itself is not the problem. Kids that can't get illegal drugs will huff paint, glue, gasoline...

The problem is the substance abuse/addiction behavior and it's a health issue, not a criminal one.

  • heroine is not the same as marijuana

  • Good point (spelled heroin, btw).

But anyone who abuses drugs has the same problem as any other junkie, regardless of their drug of choice.

Substance abuse/addiction has the potential to ruin your life regardless of how you choose to do it.

  • what do you personally mean by abuse?

  • all wee need it pot

  • Uhhhhhh.........if your a fan of lemons, then this guy is wrong.

  • You do not have to be president, any president can Stop this War on Drugs. We have created our own problems by making people criminals that do not have any victims.Stop this Crazy War on Drugs. This is just too crazy. We have created the problem and then blame them for the problem we have created.

  • Actually marijuanas probably safer than alcohal by alot. You cant get "marijuana" poisoning like you can with alcohal and to get off marijuana is so much easier than an alcoholic trying to stop drinking and you never ever hear of people dying from a marijuana OD cause theres no such thing. LEGALIZE MARIJUANA!

  • The withdrawals from heroin and Alcohol can kill you. I have done cheese heroin many times, I don't anymore because it just makes you sick. But the feeling I got from a big line of cheese heroin was almost exactly the same as I get from 5-7 beers or a few shots. I had about a 2 week withdrawal when i quite and i drank to get through it, only to end up with a new addiction to alcohol. You would think that a drug that's comparable to heroin would be the illegal one.

  • how? apparently i can die from alcohol but i cant die from cannabis. ask a expert.

"oh, but marijuana kills brain cells" so does alcohol and if you are drunk you have know fuckin clue whats going on. but as with cannabis i am totally aware of what is going on at all time. ask me.

  • experts lie

  • I cannot agree with the hard drugs portion. Leaving addicts such as those on the streets only promotes violence. I am all for decriminalization of marijuana, but not hard drugs.

  • He is not saying that he would decriminalize hard drugs. What he is saying that if your are addicted that you can go to a doctor and admit you have a problem and have to get it prescribed. That is so you wont purchase it from a violent drug dealer and not receive any type of help and go to jail. I am sure they will also have then see a therapist or some type of support group. They wont just give you those hard drugs and send you on your way.

I think its a step in the right direction.

  • right on we all know its so true gov't makes so much money on the criminal aspect so they will never legalize it they want money from all our hard workin asses and they leave the junkies alone

  • while i definately agree on his marijuana stance, i would go a step further and legalize ALL drugs, including the hard drugs. If the only way to get it is through a doctor, then there still is going to be the blackmarket for those drugs, and thats far more detrimental to society in my opinion

  • Mike Gravel you are the best presidential candidate the US has ever seen and you are a beautiful soul you have my vote

  • Preach it!! Sir, you are easily the best candidate for President I have ever seen. You've got my vote. The "powers that be" make more money from drugs being illegal, it's the only logical reason. Not to mention all that money generated in the criminal court system.People are foolish enough to think that because something is illegal it must be immoral.Laws of prohibition are counter to human nature.Education and regulation.

  • good sir, i wish i could hug you. i have been watching all your videos, im a critical person so i was specifically looking for things i dont agree with. and you know what...i havent found any.you would be the best president i think we have had in a long time. i can't begin to explain in under 500 characters all the things of your i agree with.

your stance on lowering the drinking age,you were the only one at that debate to say yes, you stance on the war, drugs, pornography, the national initiative.

  • Ron Paul all the way! I hope he goes independent against McCain and Hillary. Alot in favor for Huck/Romney would vote for him, and I bet the majority who liked Obama and Anti-Hillary voters would go for Dr. Paul, too. This could give him the support needed to win with only 35% of the vote.

  • Wake up before it's too late. Ron Paul isn't for this or that regarding personal liberty like Gravel, he favors total liberty. You can't get your rights back piecemeal. Check out his NORML interview or his interview with google, or any other interview he's given for the last thirty years.

    Ron Paul 2008!

  • It's too bad this guy didn't go farther, I like many of his stances, he stands for the people.

  • I live in Australia so I can't vote for who is going to be your President but if I could I would vote for this champ.

  • Today, is the Mike Gravel Mass Donation Day, DONATE TO MIKE GRAVEL TODAY EVERYONE! Thanks!

  • I'm entirely unsure of a national database of drug users - but he does have tons of good points.

  • this guy makes a good point

but ron paul will do this even better

  • Mike Gravel will & Ron Paul would make excuses

    if he got elected

  • The drugs do bring fear and people will vote for whoever wants to stop the flow of drugs, but cocaine is a dangerous substance and it's definatly not seen as acceptable in the publics eyes as a drug like marijuana.

  • I know the scene from Scarface your thinking of. It's when they are talking about legalization on tv and the guy says hes not for it to stop the crime, but that was a cocaine discussion. Then Tony yells at the screen and then just says they use the drugs politics to get votes which is somewhat probably true.

  • the fact that people are going to jail over a beautiful plant like marijuana is disgusting

it's the tree of life people

we were meant to use it

  • y'know if this guy were president then our nation would be wayyy more better off

the fact that he is going to help addicts instead of just legalize marijuana and incarcerate the others is highly respectable

I personally think that the answer to all of our nations problems is in fact marijuana for recreational, medical, or industrial useage

  • It would be really nice to have a link to the scene in Scarface where Tony curses the guy who is against legalization...

  • With the breweries today they don't use wood alcohol to make their beverages. Alcohol itself is dangerous and people can overdose on it but atleast the people that drink a beer aren't going to get poisoned because it's not made from wood alcohol.

  • During alcohol prohibition gangs were fighting each other for competition, people were using wood alcohol to make liquor and the wood alcohol killed many people. Alcohol itself is dangerous but the wood alcohol probably killed alot more people at the time.

  • Not everyone gets their pot in the city. If you live in a suburban area chances are you might find someone that has homegrown marijuana. I don't go into a city and go into some alley to get marijuana. I'm not in a situation where I worry about getting robbed or getting laced marijuana but others are in that situation. People used to get laced alcohol during prohibition when people made it out of wood alcohol, a very toxic substance that was more dangerous than alcohol that liquor is made from.

  • Alcohol and pot are different substances but they are in fact both mind altering, that is probably what he means by what's the difference! In another interview he even said a bottle of gin would do more damage than marijuana.

  • Also if people grow their own pot for personal use they would know for a fact it's not laced.

  • Let's say a 8th of mid grade pot was $30 and someone adds some cocaine into it to sell to someone. They wouldn't be making extra money because the pot would be valued at $30 which is what they would make on it and they would then lose out on money because they added a little bit of their hard drug stash to the marijuana for free.

  • blunteducation: fine go to jail after u smoke lased weed and do something stupid

Not everyone laces up marijuana. In fact the people that lace up the pot are probably the people that are going to smoke it themself. To lace up marijuana would cost too much money, but i'm not saying it's impossible for people to lace up marijuana and sell it to someone without telling them about it to make the pot seem stronger. If pot were legal there would be no one lacing up it and selling it to people.

  • Gravel > Hilary and Barack

  • Truth > Lies and MoreLies

  • This man is truely inteligent. He knows what he is talking about and looks at drugs from a intellictual perspective, not a bised liberal view.

  • First of all, you should learn to spell. I've been smoking for years, and not once have been caught. And you brought up a good point. The government is wasting tons of money putting "criminals" in jail for smoking pot, which is harmless. Weed does not make you do stupid things, stupid people on weed do stupid things. I've never been in any kind of trouble, never been to jail and graduated high school and will be going to college all the while smoking pot,.

  • I think that the people who dont smoke herb and Know nothing about what they preach need to go somewhere

  • Marijuana is absolutrly positively not addictive. This guy really doesnt know what hes talking about.. He said alcohol n weed are the same thing.

One major difference bud... alcohol kills you

  • Ok, I was really excited when I first saw that Mike Gravel was for marijuana... but now im pretty pisssed. perscriptions for addicts? and i'm sure it would cost 3 times what i could pay on the street... ill stay illegal. *STONERS STAND UP*

  • fucking well said mate!

  • marijuana doesn't impair an individual any where near as much as alcohol. Plus its less dangerous. less harful. less addictive.

  • That's only talking about peoples anger, if someone wants to smoke some pot for recreation it should be legal, people can drink alcohol for recreation. Marijuana also has medical value, people that have illnesses that pot is good for should definatly be allowed to use it.

  • People are also responsible for their own actions. I did say people might be better off smoking pot instead of drinking beer if they get mad, but I also think that people should not use any drug to try and hide from their problems because when it wears off your problem is still there.

  • If anything pot is more relaxing, someone gets mad about somethin, some people, not all of them end up going out to the bar or the package store, get some alcohol, get drunk and then become more violent and end up getting into a fight when they are already upset about somethin before drinking.

  • Many people use marijuana, actors, actresses, buisness people, lawyers, in some cases cops, a judge in florida got caught smoking a joint in a park. I consider alcohol a hard drug. If someone gets upset about somethin we would probably be better off that they pick up some pot instead of alcohol.

  • One guy did his own research and came to his own conclusion that the people who have problems with the hard drugs did in fact have some serious problems throughout their life, but that wasn't from drug use but they used the hard drugs to handle their problems. They were more into using the hard drugs than using marijuana.

  • ya fuck drugs you only need them if your a retard and have a messed up life

  • yep we will all drink to that.

  • that was sarcasm people

  • Just keep saying we are going to have a drug free America. The pharmaceutical is some of your biggest drug pushers, everyday theres a commercial that comes on advertising some drug they came out with. Anyone can go in and buy a over the counter drug if they need it or not. People could die on Nyquil, no one has ever died on marijuana.

  • I also agree that it's dirt cheap to make drugs like cocaine in other countries. They know they are going to lose about 10 percent of their shipments in which a bust at the border will make the news as a BIG BUST! The CIA used to trade guns for cocaine in Nicaragua to fund wars with the drug money they made in America. During the Vietnam War opium was smuggled into America using body bags.

  • When your kid goes to the hospital and a doctor gives them a drug parents should say think of the children! What kind of message is this to the children! Funny that they don't say it but when it comes to legalizing pot for adults for recreation or medical use they say, "What kind of message would it be to the children?"

  • When people have surgery done as a pain reliever morphine has been used. People go back into the hospital after certain surgeries and the doctor injects them with morphine! Morphine is made out of opium and heroin is made out of opium! If anything is a gateway to heroin it would be morphine, but no one ever admits that, they just say pot would be the gateway when pot doesn't come close to the high of a harder drug!

  • I don't agree with the use of hard drugs but if someone goes out and does a line of cocaine they are not bothering me! Their families might not like the persons drug use but keeping it illegal should have the familiy or friends in fear of that person dying because they aren't getting the drug from a doctor who would give them a regulated dose and check up on their health, on the street hard drugs get cut and no one knows what else they are getting in their drug.

  • With Mike Gravel saying hard drugs should be in the control of doctors and this way they can keep track of addicts and try to get them help as well as give them a safe dose of the hard drug, their health insurance would also pay for the drug because it's a medical problem!

  • The most angering part of this war is when a missguided law enforcement officer boasting about a big bust forcing the price of the drug out of the addicts price range.

Morons!!! it just increases the crime rate the price will be met no matter the cost.

I agree and the robbery will also increase because someone addicted to hard drugs and really has the craving for it will rob to come up with the money.

  • ya man, im all for u.

  • The most angering part of this war is when a missguided law enforcement officer boasting about a big bust forcing the price of the drug out of the addicts price range. Morons!!! it just increases the crime rate the price will be met no matter the cost.

  • All it does is increase the dealers profit margin. Cocaine costs them less than $100US per kilo(2.2pounds) in its purest form ie straight off the farm. They dont care if you get a 10 kilo shipment the cost to them is insignificant. To us it is stagering The "advertising" you give them for the "bust" is priceless. it dosnt even cause a dent in there supply chain.

  • the cost is far greater than $50-70billion. it would not include the billions in cold hard cash leaving the country. the cost of hospitalisation and eventually the cost of buring these victims.

The trauma of the service station attendant having syringes waved at him the cost of all drug related crime...

  • with the USs population it would be much closer to $300billion each and every year.

  • please read my comments bottom to top.

    continued...(4)

Together we can beat them. Together we can take the silent "S" out of Drug Stratergy. Together we can win.

This is NOT backing down. This is take no prisoners warfare.

  • continued...(3)

A drug dealer will never say " I can get you off this drug you just have to ask."

Not one Law enforcement officer will be put at risk for this. No more will our kids be forced to prostitute themselves or commit crimes to support there addictions. The prisons will now have vacancies instead of overcrowding police resources will now be freed up to pursue other crimes. The terrorists will have to find other ways to fund there sleazy little opperations.

  • continued...(2)

In australia(population 20 million) we spend over $20 billion on this misguided and inept policy on drugs. Do not blame African Americans there kids are dying and the families are being destroyed from this too. For a cost, in australia, of less than $1billion we can provide it. This money can be used to provide free presciption drugs, can house the homeless be put into education and many other things that will lift our own standards of living.

    continued...

  • "The sweetest victory is the one that is NOT fought"

Sun Tzu, The Art of War...

There is only one way to win and that is to destroy the market. you do this by providing the so called hard drugs through the health system. By this i mean only at Hospitals and health centers, the drug will be made by a chemist will be injected by a nurse with a doctor only a short distance away if something should go wrong and it must be free of charge this will take the money out of the black market.

  • Completely agree on decriminalization of addictive drugs (such as heroin and crack) and the legalisation of cannabis. However, you don't lay out where to draw the line. What of ecstasy, LSD, mushrooms and others in that group? They are generally rated as dangerous drugs but many question the logic since none are physically addictive and many recent scientific reports have rated them as far less dangerous than drugs like alcohol or cigarettes.

  • not many people are aware that Sigmund Freud was a cocain addict for more than 4 decades. being a doctor he mix hes own batches safely and get the raw ingredienc delivered to him by post. nobody guessed what they cooked up to be. he lived to a ripe old age and didnt have to commit any crimes and he was far from being a useless member of society.

  • I read one marijuana study that was saying they were finding that marijuana was shrinking tumors in lungs. Type in the video search box: Irv Rosenfeld medical marijuana testimony

he has been smoking pot for 35 years, 11 ounces a month, 300 joints every 25 days, 10 joints a day.

  • Pot hasn't killed anyone, people die every year on prescription or over the counter drugs!

  • People should be 21 or older to use marijuana, unless a state makes it 18 to use alcohol then make it 18 to use marijuana.

  • CNN yesterday flashed across their screen that marijuana prevents cancer. I guess that's a dangerous message to the children! In the meantime the big drug companies constantly advertise a new prescription or over the counter drug during commericals.

  • It's possible some people make it a habit to smoke marijuana. I know someone that smoked it every day until they got arrested. That is no reason to keep it banned, we have people that drink alcohol every day too! It's about using marijuana in moderation, putting your important things first. I smoke pot but not every day and work always comes first! Once in awhile when i'm done working I go home, smoke a little pot at night, sit down and watch tv and eventually go to sleep.

  • It could also reduce robberies because people that go to doctors and get put on a legal prescription, their health insurance pays for it.

  • People are getting confused with what he is saying about hard drugs and what he is saying about pot. He isn't sayin marijuana should be controlled by doctors, but he said that about the hard drugs! I also think that a drug addict who is addicted to hard drugs would have a better chance at living and getting off the drug if they are going to a doctor, someone that cares about the persons health. Street dealers don't give a shit about people that are addicted to the drug, they just want the money.

  • He's not sayin that you should be getting marijuana from a doctor, he feels that it should be sold to the public just like alcohol. What he has made statements about is the people that are addicted to hard drugs like cocaine should be getting that drug from doctors and not on the street because doctors also keep track of peoples health and doses of drugs they give to people.

  • I disagree with him in a few areas. He seems to be saying that marijuana is addicting, which is simply untrue. Also, it shouldn't be something you have to ask your doctor for. You don't have to ask your doctor for liquor. It should be sold behind the counter, the same way cigarettes are sold. There would be an age limit (most likely 18) I do agree with the fact that we need these kids out of prison! A kid's life should not be thrown away for getting high.

  • Duh cannabis isn't any more debilitating than alcohol, it isn't even close! It's not even bad for your health. But, yeah, he raises some points that sadly are ignored by morons that run this country. Anyone who took high school economics and/or knows a bit of US history will know that prohibition has backward effects. If people want to get high, they'll get high legally or illegally, you can't stop them.

  • just criminalize being stupid! that should fix the issue

  • i hate how people think pot is in anyway dangerous, how can we sell tobacco and i have caught my 10 yr old smoking it and get locked up for having an "addiction" fix the tobacco addiction first and legalize pot every other drug should be illegal except pot, i was gonna give you my vote until you told me pot was addictive which is far from the truth the people running this country are ignorant and from the looks of it so are the presidential candidates

  • Well, cat didn't say that, and I am really high, so what are you smoking? Also, maybe your kid is smoking cigs cause your too busy getting high? I am completely pro-pot, but how can you demonize other drugs so quickly?

  • your a fuckin idiot, weed has never killed anyone, no one has EVER died from weed so stfu

  • He didn't mean smoking weed until they are dead from smoking weed, he meant smoking weed until they are dead. In other words, smoking weed for the rest of their lives.

  • you fucking ass! i was about to root for you and conciter voteing for you until you sayed that we have to go to a doctor...register as a addict and seek help? wtf you sound like the people who are agenst weed! any one for weed will not say we are addicts! you want us to register ourselfs therefore giving ourselfs up to you so you can eventually end the weed use? some people will drink alcohol until they die some will smoke ciggs until they die!

  • I agree with every thing Mike Gravel just said

  • Ummm i think i can and ALWAYS will control what i put into my body. NO ONE can tell me other wise. Natural psychoactive substances FTW! Fuck meth grow some pot or shrooms. Way better feeling imo.

  • Thats right "LEAP" or LAW ENFORCEMENT AGAINST PROHIBITION has formed I bet you ask why.

THIS JUST IN FROM THE AMERICAN MEDICAL MARIUANA ASSOCIATION....TOP STORY: PUTTING DRUG WAR CRIMINALS ON NOTICE: "JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS" IS NOT A VALID DEFENSE, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW.

  • just remember on the start of each page you read it from the bottom to the top, not from top to bottom.

  • I wrote up the history of the banning of marjuana starting on page 4 of this video, it ends on page 2.

  • They were also the reason the blacks started getting introduced to crack cocaine, a cheaper more affordable drug. Then presidents were making statements, the drug use of crack cocaine is on the rise amongst blacks!

  • CIA agents were also trading guns for cocaine in Nicaragua, the Contras, and flying the coke back into America.

  • What stops that with Alcohol and Tobacco? Fact is nothing. I can make my own booze and resale it without taxes. Only regulation makes it a crime to sell it without licensing, which now gives the legislators a ground to do something without stepping on your civil liberty's.

  • You as the buyer will not be penalized for buying it. I will be penalized for selling it without a license which is my problem for breaking a fair law. Tobacco is only allowed to be grown by regulated farmers, for the same reason. And the same with tobacco dealers.

  • it was god who made mariwana. the govenment made it illegal. it was jesus who saved us. the government killed him.

  • lol catholics...

  • its a metaphor.. it was the government which made slavery legal, the government which cause a holacaust and so forth. politics try to mimic the conept of morality. do some research on how badly the u.s government wanted hemp illegal

  • that comment wasnt to the video you tard it was to somebody else who commented, I will have you know that I smoke marijuana and do very much believe in its legality. Retard.

  • finnanly a politician without ignorance. all evil in this world comes from ignorance ( george bush, abusive police, alkaida ) while all positive comes from knowlage (mike gravel) we seriously as a nation should act as one being and take care of each other.. in polotics and in law there is no forgiving..

  • I love Mike Gravel. And Ron Paul. I'd love to vote for them both as co-presidents. :)

  • If it marijauna were legalized, the cost of setting up a reasonable sales system would be insane.

What about the blue-collor aspect of it. If it were legal to have, even with a permit, whats to keep someone from buying from an unregistered dealer to avoid taxes.

Granted, the percentage that did buy it from registered sources, taxable ones, would be enough to make up for it.

  • I think the incentive is already in place. You lose your job if you fail a drug test. In sweden if you don't have your permit its goodbye.

And its a start. No one said this is the end all solution. Its step 1 to a very large problem. Though eliminating poverty would be a good thing to do and hopefully drugs would be less.

  • Legalization and Regulation of marijuana is also legalization and regulation of Hemp. And this will help on many problems this country is having from Energy to Soil Nutrient Renewal. But the problem here is it would put the Oil & Coal, Lumber, Cotton, Corn etc. company's out of business in the worst case or cut deeply into their profits in the best case scenario. I say Let Them Grow Hemp!

  • haha this shit is awesome. im baked out of my mind and this guy sounds pretty inspirational.

  • Glad to see more politicians realizing the truth!! TO LEARN MORE READ JACK HERER'S "THE EMPEROR WEARS NO CLOTHES"!!! AND VOTE FOR RON PAUL 2008, HE ALSO SUPPORTS ENDING THE DRUG WAR!!!

  • ur awesome mike, its so crazy when u think of it in a simple manner...where should an addict be going. to prison where hes going to get worse or to a proper medical rehab center where he will be treated properly

  • The war on drugs is a front for the American drug cartel like the Cocaine Import Agency (CIA) & Others, who used the Vietnam war as a front in they're opium smuggling back to the world in body bags. The cartel make more selling it in the streets then they spend on the campaign they use as a smokescreen.

  • thats one hell of a conspiracy you got there

  • Yes & unfortunately history backs me up on it. Air America pilots & ex-CIA agents admitted under oath before Congress about flying out of Laos & Cambodia carrying tons of opium. That was how they were able to finance their pet 'black projects' AND their war without the American having to feel it was making a sacrifice. Like we did in WW2 and Korea.

  • You're right.

  • Awesome video!~

  • That movie was made in 1985 but that went with the 1955 script because the whites that never tried marijuana and knew that black jazz musicians used it, the black jazz musicians in the 1930's their music was called evil and devils music, Anslinger and William Hearst associated marijuana with being the evil drug. The script in Back to the Future when they say, we don't wanna mess with no reefer addicts goes with propaganda of marijuana making people crazy.

  • In fact if you watch the movie Back To The Future, when hes at the dance and he gets locked in the trunk, remember the black jazz musicians are smoking pot? They get out to help him and the guys that are there to jump Michael J. Fox see the jazz musicians get out of the car with a joint to see what's going on and the white guys that are there run and say "We don't wanna mess with no reefer addicts" That setup was for 1955.

  • In Texas a 2nd conviction got people life. Laws on marijuana eased up because they found that most of the people that went to jail weren't just blacks and mexicans, they found that many young white middle class suburban teenagers and adults were getting jail time. The laws were passed with people thinking they were just going to incarcerate foreigners.

  • In earlier years after pot was banned in 1937 laws were very strict for 1st and 2nd time offenders. A vietnam soldier that came back from the war was facing 50 years in prison for selling a ounce of marijuana.

  • The movie doesn't talk about William Hearst, just Harry Anslinger but Hearst had influence over the media, not just Anslinger working for the government and making his drug czar speeches. The drug czar of today's society is John Walters.

  • The movie called GRASS is a marijuana documentary and will discuss what I had said and show you real footage, real speeches, all the marijuana propaganda up to 1998.

  • There were studies done on college compus's in the late 60's or 70's. Students were interviewed on camera about marijuana use. They were asked if they used other drugs besides marijuana or if they were addicted to marijuana. The random students they asked answered no and that they might smoke pot for a week or a few days and then not smoke for awhile. They concluded that the people that used marijuana didn't use harder drugs and that the people that used harder drugs didn't really use marijuana.

  • In 1961 Anslinger resigned under the JFK administration I read somewhere else that he didn't just resign, JFK fired him, so he was probably forced into resigning. It's been rumored that JFK used marijuana as a medicine for his bad back and I don't know if this is true or not but I read somewhere else that he had planned on legalizing marijuana in his 2nd term which might be why Anslinger was fired because he was a liar.

  • This was brought public, Anslinger was furious that it disproved his claims and banned any further testing of marijuana that could make him look bad. If anyone did further testing with marijuana they would be in jail. Anslinger started the propaganda of marijuana bein a gateway drug to heroin. In 1951 when heroin addiction started getting known to the public, Anslinger said that if you smoked marijuana you would become a heroin addict. He used this as a new scare tactic to the public.

  • New York Mayor Laguardia was skeptical of Anslingers claims that marijuana made people insane and violent people, he had a doctor do studies with marijuana. The doctor tested marijujana out on patients and found that it just made them happy, they would laugh and eventually fall asleep which was what marijuana users said happend under the influence.

  • The year marijuana was banned Anslinger took William Hearsts newspaper articles to the government as proof that it was a dangerous drug and the people in congress didn't know anything about marijuana, no one did, they only went by what Anslinger told them.

  • In 1937, the year marijuana was banned, he made public speeches that marijuana was the most dangerous and destructive drug known to mankind. In 1948 he recanted his story and said it was the most peaceful drug and that people would not want to go to war if they used marijuana. He also said marijuana would spread communism.

  • Mexican hemp plantations threatend William Randolph Hearsts investments in the timber industry. He lost over 800,000 aces to Pancho Villa. Hearst wrote other articles in his newspapers that a mexican went crazy on marijuana. People believed whatever they read in the paper and William Hearsts papers were the ones giving the false stories about marijuana. Anslinger was supposed to be the witness for the government on marijuana.

  • William Hearst was a newspaper editor, he didn't like blacks or mexicans, neither did Harry Anslinger and Anslinger had been yelled at during a government meeting for using the phrase "ginger colored niggers" William Hearst also used racial slurs in his newspapers against blacks. He made stories that black men would stare white men in the eye when using marijuana, would not fear the white man, black men had relations with white women, he said all of this was because of marijuana.

  • Andrew Mellon was financial banker for the dupont corporation, he was also Secretary of the Treasury in the government, he appointed his nephew-in-law and first drug czar Harry J. Anslinger to lead the narcotics task force. Anslinger created the war on marijuana.

  • Marijuana was banned for a few reasons:

controlling the population in society in America of blacks and mexicans, we wanted to deport or throw them in jail, marijuana laws gave us a reason because we knew they used marijuana

the dupont corporation- hemp threatend the dupont corporation, people saw hemp and marijuana as the same product.

  • if i was old enuff to vote id vote for him but i cant everybody that are allowed to vot VOTE FOR THIS GUY!!

  • Now THAT is a candidate. What a great man. Too bad the American people aren't rational enough to vote for a man who makes so much sense.

  • yea legalise it!!! but the only reason there not is because the govt is scared of all the ppl they put in jail because of it, i mean its gonna be like hey srry it was a crime then but now its legal, so the years u did in jail were for nothing

  • I definitely agree legalize marijuana!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • drugs are not prohibited because a gouvernment wants to protect the society. it's all about MONEY and controlling people.

ON EVERY SINGLE INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ARE CUSTOMS OFFICIALS INVOLVED IN DRUG TRAFFICKING!!

ALL OVER THE WORLD GOUVERNMENT IS INVOLVED IN MAFIASHIT AND DRUGTRAFFICKING. even on top:

the worstest DRUGS (alcohol, nicotin, medication...) are legal and sold to the benefit of corrupt systems.

  • Great Video Of a Great Man..Wise Up American..Wake Up

"Peace When Ever Possible, Anything Is."

    Medley

  • I agree, our prison stats are very shameful. I like Mike Gravels sensible thinking. Wish we could get rid of these other numb-skulls for just a nightand see Gravel, Huckabee, and Paul square off in a debate, considering none of them ever get any good speaking time during the debates.

  • theres no drug war if u decriminalize it, think deeply in that....

plus USA can TAX the herb and earn money BTW.....

Gravel08 ur a wiseman congrats.... hope ur the president

  • Agreed. Gravel for president. He didn't mention this, but you could tax store purchased weed, make hemp a cash crop for both smoking, and non-smoking purposes. IE: Rope, Clothing, Hemp Seeds are rich in amino acids and other important nutritional uses. This drug/plant can bring us out of our depression, and put us back on the right track! No more spending 250 billion dollars on stupid causes!

  • Well your wrong once again. Look At the cities, NEW York- Philly- Tampa- SO on and on. THey almost all carrie and use So what are there crime rates conparisons ?

  • You've said I am narrow minded.[QUOTE] I can put anything in my body It isn't hurting anybody but me . GO buy a 38 and solve the problem.

  • You're my hero, taking a very controversial stance just because it is right. Even if you don't win (I hope you do), bringing these sensible ideas in to the public forum as will hopefully get more people thinking about it and down the line your rationality may prevail and help us move forward as a people. The next step in society's evolution.

  • Id would vote for you my friend....

anyone who reconsiders the present laws against marihuana unfair is my friend.,.

keep up the good work! I HOPE TO SEE YOU PRESIDDENT

  • well...he's got my vote

  • weehc first of all you need to watch your mouth BOY. the bible verses you quoted have nothing to do with Maryjane. And get you number straight about arrest. And no I think cigs- alcohol- pharacutical- and pot should all be illegal, for the fact that they hurt your body in numerous ways, some we don;t even know yet. We don't need the money we need to get reid of DRUgs of all kinds. I am sure that maryjane has some medicinal good , and some should be able to use it with strict Supervision.

  • It doesn't matter what you think. Freedom is the right to put ANYTHING in your own body provided it doesn't harm anyone but yourself. And that's the way it should be in any country that wants to call itself "free"

  • Making all drugs illegal? Sounds like fascism to me. Fucking nazi.

  • He always talks about gin, but still he is a kick ass candidate
