My sweet mom used to sing this to me when I was little... I called her before she passed away last fall and played it for her.... She cried and laughed saying, "You remember that song!?" I'll never forget the lyrics or the memories.

love this tune and others i remember them when i was kid back then lol. its a shame we dont see these old time music on our sky tv as we we get a load of crap what we dont watch and yet germany see all our top of the pops and all the memorabilia bands and we have to put with total crap music here and we dont have a say in it they assume you should watch what they order and set up channels that a full of advertiseing more than programes.
but its easy to look through rose tinted glasses at the past there was vietnam, the olympic hostage attrocity, terrorim and football hooliganism was worse in the 70,s no era is ever perfect :{
Funny how today's younger generation are different .... GEE ! .... could it be the anti - social and violent content of the present garbage , they call music ?

BTW does anyone know who that is playing out the credits at the end of this clip. Its really good. I hadn't heard it before. It must have been just before CCS's version of Led Zepplin's Whole Lotta Love took over for most of the 70's.
A very clever point I think LDP should grow old with dignity like Madonna who is a very classy lady and a perfect role model for the more mature performers to aspire to
As you rightly say, it's all a matter of opinion. I'm just making the point that everyone on X-factor are manafactured puppets. Yes, there was a lot of crap in this era, but at least they wrote their own songs and played their instruments.
Not all of them! There were a few 'ghost writers' back then too. Nikki Chin and Mike Chapman were behind the Sweet among others. Phil Coulter and Bill Martin were behind the Bay City Rollers, Cliff and Sandie Shaw. Most of the Hits were recorded by 'session musicians' and not the bands themselves. Or at least big orchestras and additional musicians were added in to sell the record. The 'puppet' thing always went on.
Oh I see. I didn't know that now, so fair point. I really feel, however, that X-Factor has ruined the Christmas No1. It used to be special once, now they just give it to the X-Factor winner (this is before I've heard this year's Xmas No1, so I hope I'm left with egg on my face)
The main interest is the blonde singer was called Lyn Pau who was often confused with another popular singer of the day, Lynsey de Paul, although their styles were different.
There style's certainly were different glen1967ful as Lynsey De Paul spent most of her years been a slag. she had no class what so ever and slept with 100's of men....
There was some confusion as both had similar names and were blonde, but their styles were different. You could say Lynsey had her pick of men, but I wouldn't say she was a slag. Madonna is a slag and a common one at that.
Absolutely brilliant uploads. Brought back many memories. I noticed the "Festival" logo in the top corner. Is this a new sky channel? Are they doing other old Top of the Pops? Regarding the Rod Stewart issue, elsewhere on YouTube there is a silent verswion of The Drifters "Kissing in the Back Row of the Movies". How daft is that? Finally, under a rather inferior version of "Give Peace a Chance" somebody commented "Is censorship more important than John Lennon's message
EinsFestival is a German channel. I have no idea if it's available on Sky.
And yes, what WMG did to YT is a real "musical genocide" - tons of videos have been removed, lots of accounts have been suspended. I'll never buy anything from WMG again.
I am still searching for one of the best songs by New Seekers: "Cinncinnati"

Do you notice something? NO STUPID HAND-CLAPPING in the audience. Maybe it's because this was taped in '71.
Some time later, everyone got infected by that infamous hand-clapping virus...

Elvis should have recorded this song. I can't understand why he didn't at a later year.

The BBC are NOT allowed to do this due to copyright restrictions.
