Ogla Kern and Jon Nakamatsu are so good! I always have dreamed of entering the Van Cliburn competition. I am working hard in my piano in case I have an oppritunity one day.
Can someone tell me all the pieces that were played in the beginning? I know the first one is Liszt's Mephisto Waltz, the second is Schumann's Davidsbundlertanze and I don't know the rest. I especially like the 3rd one and the and 6th or 7th I'm not sure cause they sound like one whole piece. Pls let me know thanks.
yup, Olga won it. she actually tied with another incredible pianist, Stanislav Ioudenitch - the first time in the competition's history of a tie for first. They're so amazing...
Yeah, Schumann Davidsbundlertanze. My favorite recording of it is by Murray Perahia. A much underperformed piece, but so incredibly wonderful. It has some very interesting dances in it. The one played at that point in the video is one of my favorites. The work as a whole is good though. Check it out.
ioudenitch won

She's here in Houston teaching a master class. The Houston Chronicle had an article on her, calling her "the most successul Cliburn winner in years."
