  • ioudenitch won

  • Olga´s performance is EPIC!!!!!

  • yes!

  • God that mixing in the beginning was absolutely horrible...

Also the Scriabin 5 excerpt was pretty bad :O

  • Is 0:15 the Scriabin 5?

  • Yea.

  • Yay! I get to play with Olga Kern next week! I'm so looking forward to it!

  • a) Lucky!!

    b) Why?

  • Ogla Kern and Jon Nakamatsu are so good! I always have dreamed of entering the Van Cliburn competition. I am working hard in my piano in case I have an oppritunity one day.

  • i actually preferred nakamatsus rach 3 over olga kerns

  • Gosh Mephiso Waltz was too fast.

  • what song is that that jon nakamatsu is playing, the first song of the "competition" section?

  • "chopin" in schumann's carnival

  • I love Olga Kern's performance of the Rach 3. She's amazing!!

  • Hear hear... Olga Kern is awesome!

  • Can someone tell me all the pieces that were played in the beginning? I know the first one is Liszt's Mephisto Waltz, the second is Schumann's Davidsbundlertanze and I don't know the rest. I especially like the 3rd one and the and 6th or 7th I'm not sure cause they sound like one whole piece. Pls let me know thanks.

  • The one playing for "Emotion" is from the first movement of the Brahms' Piano Quintet.

  • There are two excerpts from Liszt's Spanish Rhapsody. :21 to :24 and :28 to :32, respectively.

  • No problem.

  • is it still the mephisto at 0:12?

i really want to find out! its so moving.

  • i just found it. its no13 from schumanns davidsbunlertanze. thanks.

  • olga kern's playing brings me to tears (in a good way)

  • hello everybody! Would someone recognize the second piece of the video?

  • You have soooo much to learn...

  • i just hate pianists who exaggerate their facial expressions..,My favoeite Cliburn winner is Nakamatsu....

  • Please please on PLEASE tell me that Olga won that competition!

  • yup, Olga won it. she actually tied with another incredible pianist, Stanislav Ioudenitch - the first time in the competition's history of a tie for first. They're so amazing...

  • She did.

  • Can anyone tell me what the last piece is on the video?

  • It is the third and final movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto #3.

  • Its movement 12 from Schumann's Carnaval. Its entitled Chopin. (Not a bad imitation either!)

  • Another piece identification question...can anyone tell me what piece it is Jon Nakamatsu is playing starting at around 00:45 in?

  • sgh31: The piece that starts at 00:10 is Schumann's Davidsbundlertanze movement 13.

  • Great video!, what´s the piece at 00:10 after Liszt?

  • Yeah, Schumann Davidsbundlertanze. My favorite recording of it is by Murray Perahia. A much underperformed piece, but so incredibly wonderful. It has some very interesting dances in it. The one played at that point in the video is one of my favorites. The work as a whole is good though. Check it out.

  • She's here in Houston teaching a master class. The Houston Chronicle had an article on her, calling her "the most successul Cliburn winner in years."

  • I saw Olga in Houston - Wow! - The Don Juan was unreal

  • Olga Kern is spectacular. What a great performer. Beautiful.

  • yayy olga kern is amazing
