The Federal Reserve whose Chairman and Governing Board are appointed by the federal govt. artificially manipulates the value of the nation's currency and interest rates. It is more accurate to say that the govt. made credit so readily available - in the case of the Fed but also in their own lending programs and also lawsuits against private banks for "unfair" lending practices which said "lower your credit standards".

@561tran There were plenty of non-supporters. You can hear one girl yelling "What the fuck? Fucking nooo! What the fuck? STOP!" as she pushes her way to the front of the crowd. Later you hear people saying "they're fighting about burning the flag" (around 2:00).
This all happened very, very fast - while most people who had come downtown were getting kettled at the YMCA and arrested. People didn't come downtown intending to break into City Hall and burn a flag.
