The government would rather spend the money from road tax generated, on fraud war's in libya and iraq.
i pay loads of road tax, and it disgusts me when i encounter potholes and speed humps, and being forced to pay money to park !!! thats what road tax is 4....
Maybe you should get a bicycle - it would certainly make it easier to travel down the road and you'll save a lotof money by not having to pay road tax.
@idontpayroadtax True, but aren't they a big problem for cyclists too? I mean that's why cyclists can't travel too far to the left - Partly due to sunken iron manhole covers and grates. You could also probably loose a whole bicycle down some of these craters!
In my opinion gravel or mud roads are better than asphalt ones in such a bad condition the potholes in the asphalt can be so sharp they puncture tires and cause other damage to the car..
@sgnewa Thank you for your reply :) Yes I completely agree! I know you have many gravel roads in Iceland and surely the road fatality rate isn't any higher. They (councils) probably wouldn't do gravel roads here due to silly Health & Safety laws that have been introduced by the E.U. Now the councils have run out of money and can't afford to repair the roads and we have to pay road tax - Yes we must tax any vehicles on the road. Stupid!!
I drive down this road on my motorbike everyday, been on a motorbike i have to aviod and ride at 10mph to get round them.
Have you reported this road to pothole website, i was thinking of poping down with the camera to take pictures, to report it ? iam only round the corner. slnyal@aol.com I reported the ones on my street, and they were gone in 2 days.
@X9Travels Hi, sorry for my late reply. I have reported it and I have had feedback from a recent meeting with the local MP and the council committee. It is quite funny - I have the data showing that they apparently "maintain" the road to schedule but the council want ME to tell them where this is. If they maintained the road like they should be doing, I wouldn't have to tell them!
