  • I think doing a Bill Chase piece not utilizing a high note trumpet player is a no no. I have all the Chase , Ennae, and pure Music albums and although he is great at improve, he is noted for his high notes. You gotta let one or 2 of your trumpet players cut loose ala chase like. Band sounded great expect it missed the sizzle & sheer excitement of the missing high notes. I can't march at all or probably play as good as you guys but hopefully you guys take this constructively. Peace Guys

  • @junkyman2 Totally agree. Gonna do a Chase tune, gotta have the high notes haha

  • was that saxophone solo an alto or tenor?

  • @nap1596 alto with amazing tone :)

  • I really love Chase and Ferguson but I don't hear any screechers, the drum cadence was similar to a middle school band but as far as the songs themselves, I loved them. I'm not gonna hate on you for some good music, I was just expecting more out of a college band. I have actually heard better at our high school state competitions in Iowa from the bigger schools. Great talent!

  • Playing this whole set for my high school. I'm f horn/mellophone. and just saying, the horns have the one part that is JUST them in "Open Up Wide". Those guys need to play out, like for real.i heard like 3, one being louder than the other. Also need to syncopate with the low brass at 1:18 . But I'm impressed, to do it this fast, that many sets, is incredible^.-

  • That's our show this year! :) Only it's simply called "Chase".

  • my high schools playin open up wide and i think akron played it about 5 times faster than were doing it now haha

  • As far as a marching show, not bad. As far as a good tribute to bill chase, not so much

  • There were 2 saxes playing solos during Handbags as well, just so you know for the little info thing. One was Julio & the other was a freshman.

  • goosebumps goosebumps goosebumps!! ahhh easily my favorite show of the year! and the best part is, THAT'S OUR GRAD ASSISTANT'S SHOW!! we're so BA we did our grad's show for the ksucks game! haha

  • Heeeell to the yeah!

  • i think that version of get it on sucked, I heard a version done by the Brush Arcs Marching Band located in Lyndhurst Ohio, that was wayy better than that. Their version of the song inlcuded a drum break in the middle, and included a way better ending...

  • I had never seen Kent State's band before this game and I was amazed by the difference in quality between Akron and Kent. Kent almost reminded me of a mediocre high school band *sorry*.

    Go Zips!

  • Fuck. Yes. Go us.
