I know what it really means when shadow says "goodbye forever"... remember when he says, "only one thing left to do, to put the past behind me" before he warps the black commet to the ark to get blasted? It means he's going to put his dark past behind him and move on because he tossed the picture of the Professor and Maria behind his back before he left. So he means goodbye to his dark past. And what happens after that is he was invited by the Commander of GUN to be recruited. I read that:)

At the end, when Shadow says, "Goodbye forever, Shadow the Hedgehog," it could definitely be percieved many different ways, esspecially with all of the different ways to play the game. But I always thought, esspecially after listening to "Never Turn Back", that Shadow was simpley conveying the fact that he was going to move on -- that his past was not going to control him anymore and that his future was what mattered.

Plus in SA2B, he fell after he destroyed the Ultimate Life Form monster thing, and he still had the power of the Chaos Emerald Blast attached to him. If you ever played Sonic Heroes, at either the end of the game or at Tema Dark's ending (Don't remember) they show dozens of Shadow androids. I am still trying to figure out Shadow. But I think he is not android.(I think that is point of Shadow The Hedgehog game to see which one is first ending you get? And I believe that robots can't use Chaos Emeralds.)

@grim10fire He didn't use the Chaos Emeralds. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles did. Metal Sonic just put on all of Eggman's machinery to become Metal Madness and Metal Overlord. Sonic and co. just used the Emeralds to destroy him. If Metal Sonic used them they would be scattered across the earth. (Proof: Sonic X) But you do have a point possibly because in SA2. The Emeralds turned gray. Sonic Heroes this did not happen. No offense but I still think I'm right.

Shadow hasn't died yet...... SA2 he fell.... but he's harder to kill than that! (I mean really, he doesn't even need oxygen!)
