That said- you have to give credit to the songwriters/musicians and promoters that essentially 'made' this non-existent band into something the public believed was a real band.
Look up his interviews. He's very honest about all the girls he 'used', and how he pretty much considers himself on par with all-time great bands, even though he isn't even a musician/songwriter himself.

Please- everyone knows that David Cassidy was a jerk back then, and is still a jerk now. Now he's just an old, balding jerk. He didn't write or play any of that music, even though 50 years later, people think he did.
this is my favorite Partridge Family song and I still remember the episode. Laurie Prange played the runaway, Maggie! Times were so much simpler then! I was only a young child then but now tv is so screwed up, with shows where housewives fight and people get drunk for amusement, geez!!! Point me, in the direction of a simpler time!!!
I have always loved this song---if i had any shame (which I don't) i guess the Partridge's would be my guilty pleasure---although I have always considered them a pleasure.
this reminds me of my home in albuquerque, l live in virginia but albuquerque will always be my home...thanks for this video...awesome...always a david cassidy fan

@bailinnumberguy Nah, you won't get laughed at except by anyone who doesn't know the history of the Partridge Family and the songwriters. There was an amazing group of songwriters who wrote all of the music for the series. If you have any of the series on dvd look at the extras behind the making of the music and you'll see how much went into all of the music. Yes, it was great and amazing and I still love the music to this day!
People can say all they want about David Cassidy and the Partridge family, but he had a wonderful voice, and I have a lot of great child hood memories around watching that show! Thanks for posting this! I love it. :)
I,am a huge Fan of the Partridge Family and there music , I really like the lyrics of all there songs. The Partridge Family ,The Brady Bunch, was a big part of My days living at home. They where clean Family shows that everyone could watch without leaving the room. Two Thumbs Up !!
Despite all the tell-all books about shows like this, the story behind the scenes etc. the actors, writers etc. made this show believable, and I refuse to feel cynical about The Partridge Family. A happy fun show back when I was a kid.
This song helped me get HOME. I was some miles outside of Albuquerque and had to get there with a car that broke down numerous times. If I could get my car to Alb. I could catch a flight home. I listened to this song over and over and my car made it!!!! And I got home!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cried my eyes out once I finally got to Alb!!!!!

The Partridge Family was way better than the Brady Bunch, they sang, they related to each other like normal people. I watched it every week I was a kid back then around Danny's age.
The name "Albuquerque" works out great for this song musically. But really... has anyone who's ever left Albuquerque ever wanted to go back? This is the magic of song--the ability to create a beautiful alternative universe.
@GlorifiedTruth New Mexico was amazing as I had imagined from this song, now Glenn Campbell's Galveston... figured Galveston had to be HEAVEN from the song no disrespect.....Southwest US is amazing. Excellent post ;.)
This guy LOVE LOVE LOVES The Partridge Family. This song is truly timeless and sublime, and it hearing it makes me nostalgic and wistful for an era long gone by.
@capebee Yes!!! I just revisited "life on mars" on DVD and it made me look up this song. Sam was looking at the ad with the toy from his childhood and he just wanted to get home. It was perfect use of this song. It hit me upon it's original airing as well, since I am the same age as Sam Tyler in both time frames.( I was 4 years old in 1973). Yes this show should have been given more of a chance.

I miss my dad... I am sitting here crying thinking about him and would give anything to be with him again... This song brings out the tears as it is so beautiful...
I've never been crazy about first season songs...his voice was so different. I know it wasnt even DC at first, lol, but he had voice lessons between first and second season and there is such a huge difference in his voice. although...I do like a few early songs like morning rider on the road or I'll leave myself a little time... or of course I think I love you, hehe.
Just my 2 cents. Yeah I saw Cassidy in Laughlin. Yeah I was jammin to the grooves. But everyone else there had been comped from playin at the casino and there was a bunch of grannys and little old men who were goin, huh? But all the ladys in the front row were throwin their panties!
This song reminds me of such a time of innocence long ago. Also reminds me of the man I was going to marry years later. Flew down to Albuquerque to finalize switching collages as I was fr. another country. Got there with hopes of finalizing our wedding plans. Got off the plane and he announced his EX was back and they were getting re-married. What a kick in the heart. Was stuck there for 2 weeks. This song has some bitter sweet memories. That was 20 yrs. ago. married 19 to a much better man.
I am 44 and my 13 year old daughter and 9 year old son love all the Partridge family songs, but this is probably their favorite since I have been playing it since they were born, they know all the words and it brings back memories when i was young!
Gotta chime in here. I say this as a 48-year-old male that's in the music business. This song is criminally unknown; always been my favorite Partridge Family song. My tastes have changed but this still holds up nearly 40 years later.
What was the name of the young girl actress that played the part of the runaway in this episode? I think I just her in a Gunsmoke episode! Playing some wild child Miss Kitty took under her wing! LOL!
had the original album, played it over and over in the 7th grade, this was one of my favs.........oh to be 13 again, when you had no idea of what was to come.......:)
Ahh, great song, great growing-up memories. Loved this show, esp. David Cassidy, when I was a kid. This song was featured in this week's episode of ABC's Life On Mars (soon, unfortunately, to be cancelled), a great show about a modern-day detective who somehow goes back to 1973 - this week, he solved the murder of a stewardess who's a David Cassidy fan - I sang along with every word, of course I remembered them all! Thanks for posting!!
Writers just don't get the credit that they should. Who wrote this great song? I've always wondered if it was based on an incident or imagination. Either way, I have always felt so sad for that poor rag doll girl and I prayed that she made it back to Albuquerque,
There is a "church" in Albuqurque called "The Partridge Family Church". The founder thought this song was a "sign" so started a church named after them. True Story!
Well, I'm IN Albuquerque, and I've never heard of it. No phone number for it, either. A quick Google search shows a couple of strange and peculiar websites informing viewers of the "Partridge Family Temple"--none of which are in Albuquerque--however. (They say Albuquerque represents Eden--HA! They obviously haven't been here.) No "Partridge Family Church," anywhere, it seems. Sorry.
Unbelievable! I believe my first 45 I ever bought was " I think I love you". This was my favorite show! Friday nights The Brady Bunch, The Partridge family, AHHHH. This music and the lyrics came back instantly. Some I haven't sung along with in almost 40 years???? It can't be can it??? Thank you so much for these posts. I'am sitting here in the dark its 12:17 AM and I have been transported back some 40 years almost....WOW!!!!!!!!!!
Funny, in reality David and Shirley were the only performers backed by studio singers and musicians yet every song we hear we think of all of them playing together. That was the power of this show. SumerKis38, you have an unbelievable variety of songs posted! Thanks for bringing back such "growing up" memories!!
so many of these songs just seem to be making me weep lately iguess just anlife ting when u get older makes u try to research some of ur life if u have trouble remembering things in it sometimes songs can help hit anote sometimes not agood note but it make su remembe rthings shakerazz46
Wow, this was one of my favs along with of course I Think I Love you. This song though, for soem reason just meant alot to ne then as a lil kid and now as an old man lol ( 42) . The shows storyline also with this song got to me too for some reason ( the young woman who Cassidy/Keith had feelings for). Thanks for posting, for I know I wouldnt be able to find this anywhere else lol. In fact I used to have their album, but lost it =(.
@Oldiesbuff925 Know what you mean!!! I have the vinyl of Partridge Family Greatest Hits! (I'm 48...) and couldn't believe I found this posted!!! Thanks for the memories!!!
Besides the Monkees, the founding fathers of Country Rock, the Partridge Family is outstanding with this song. Forget the Torta Brothers, Once Parson, the b-Eagless, whatever you might hear from Brunie Luddite, Country Rock starts here. LAURIE!!!
Wow-i liked them back then-heard them first on AFRTS in 'Nam,out of Saigon-always loved the P-Family,even though most of it was 'lipped-synced'...always a great song-makes one almost teary eyed...
I hadn't heard this song in probably 35 years. We used to have an LP or a 45 with Partridge Family songs on it and this song was included. I can't believe how much of the tune and the lyrics I remembered. What memories. Thanks for posting it!

This song about the little lost rag doll is so sad.
Crazy little rag doll, her hair was wild and tossed.
And I put my arm around her, 'cause I knew that she was lost.
She didn't seem to notice that anyone was near
Till suddenly she turned to me and whispered in my ear-
Point me in the direction of Albuquerque
I want to go home, and help me get home.

Besides the Monkees, the founding fathers of Country Rock, the Partridge Family is outstanding with this song. Forget the Torta Brothers, Once Parson, the b-Eagless, whatever you might hear from Brunie Luddite, Country Rock starts here. LAURIE!!!

Wow-i liked them back then-heard them first on AFRTS in 'Nam,out of Saigon-always loved the P-Family,even though most of it was 'lipped-synced'...always a great song-makes one almost teary eyed...

the line "anyone who helps me is a real good friend of mine" is so classic

I hadn't heard this song in probably 35 years. We used to have an LP or a 45 with Partridge Family songs on it and this song was included. I can't believe how much of the tune and the lyrics I remembered. What memories. Thanks for posting it!

The other Albuquerque video was on Splainit's channel which was suspended!

Why did he get suspended?
SumerKis38 4 years ago
Probably copyright violation, they're suspending a lot of accounts that way!

I was wondering where the other "albuquerque" song was
