It was going to be "Hard-core", but they decided it was too good to just be a "Porno", so they went "Soft" and released it soft...BUT during an orgy scene, you can see a woman sucking a guy like crazy.

The scene was filmed at a distance...guess they missed it while editing!

That's kind of a pity, because the bodies, today, are so much better. So even if they found the missing parts, and re-issued the xxx version, it wouldn't be so hot. Opportunity lost. I suppose back then it was unthinkable to release TWO versions....

My fave line from this film was when they first land on Mongo and Jerkov opens the ship door, takes a deep breath and states...

There were meetings about shooting a test reel for The Star Wars by several members of the Flesh Gordon effects crew

who were very aware of the fact that George Lucas was working on the script and that Lucas had originally wanted to make Flash Gordon. I still have a letter from Lucas

on American Graffitti letterhead describing his "upcoming

project" The Star Wars.

As it turned out several of them did work on Star Wars

I still think Flesh Gordon influenced Star Wars, by getting so much attention just 3 years before SW's release, and it takes at least 2 to make a movie from initial deals to final products.
